Amazing views!!! Some treacherous area, so be careful!
Great workout and views. the volunteers are doing a good job fixing up the trail. I got to the park right as they were opening the gates at 6:00am. The parking lot was pretty much full when I got back a little after 7:00.
Amazing view
One hell of hike, really hard! Watch your every step at all times. Take it slow and steady, bring lots of water take breaks but be careful where you take a break it’s very steep hike! Amazing views, so beautiful!! Please don’t take your dogs, they are not meant to be ok the hike! It’s to hard and dangerous for dogs and older people to be on this hike. So please for there safety don’t bring dogs, older people or younger child on this hike it’s not safe at all for them! There is over the 1048 steps and there is huge caps in between the steps. One part there is no bottom below when your going up the steps at one point it’s so scary! When you get to the top the views are spectacular. Going down is even scary because it’s so hard to go down. It’s really hard on the knees and your legs. It’s a huge leg workout.
Fun, fun, fun hike with great 360 views at the top! Easy enough for most people but it can be tiring if you go up fast.
Best spot to see sunrise on Oahu! Fun easy hike for anyone with a rewarding view!
Trail was open today (Wednesday 4/14). The first part is very doable. It doesn’t get really challenging until you’re about 2/3 of the way up. Use the path to the right if you want to avoid the suspended portion of the trail past the “unstable tram” sign that others have mentioned. Overall very straightforward but also quite strenuous with some great views!
Paved. Some dangerous drops. Pay attention with kids. amazing views.
nice views of the light house from above unfortunately the trail to the lighthouse was closed
The stairs are fairly easy the first half of the climb but the last half is all incline. We had no problem doing it but we’re both very athletic people. Bring lots of water and sunscreen. There’s a part on the trail where the stairs are suspended in the air (like a bridge) but take it slow and you’ll make it across with no problem.
A little tough on the way up for a beginner but not a bad hike at all!
Closed today :(
FYI It’s closed right now on weekdays for maintenance, but open on weekends and holidays
Easy hike on a paved road. Make sure you wear sunblock and also check out the off the road paths for some great scenery and photo ops
High incline, paved hike. Great if you want to do a hike alone, or have kids, strollers, or for families. It’s an easy hike, but I do suggest bringing water always, and sunscreen if you’re going early in the day as there’s no shade. Beautiful views!
I’ve done this hike 4x, 2x since moving here this past month ... it’s brutal, but a crazy good workout. The views are always rewarding every time you get to the top! I would recommend doing this hike early or later in the day, as mid day can get super hot. BRING WATER and small snacks. I always eat a banana before hand, and bring some dates with me for when I reach the top. I’d also recommend trail running sneakers or hiking boots with traction at the bottom, as the wood can get slippery if it rained or gets wet.
FYI - our friends went to the trailhead 30 minutes before us and were told by staff that the trailhead is closed today for maintenance.
Moderate?!?’ Ha! Listening to all the panting and distraught faces, this trail is not moderate. As other reviewers said, it is challenging and steep. It makes the stairs at Diamond Head seem easy. Worth the view, nice camaraderie with most fellow hikers. I did notice that a family was really struggling with a baby without a baby knapsack and 2 kindergarten aged children wailing, not crying. Extremely distraught children. Coming back down they weren’t much farther than 30 minutes prior, I hope they are ok. I wouldn’t suggest it for people with babies and/or young kids except for those with babies in baby knapsacks on their backs or front and more importantly, if the parents and kids are fit(the few I did see were to be admired).
It’s steep, but not very far. I wouldn’t say it’s “easy,” but more moderate. Amazing views, definitely recommend.
Hot, sunny, and a little crowded since it's only open weekends rn. Volunteers have done an amazing job at making this hike safer! Great workout
Easy hike up it is steep.
Super fun hike. Started at 5:30 for sunset, perfect timing! Came down while it was still light out. Watch out coming down the trail is steep. Sheesh!
