Went this morning before 9am. Not too many people compared to coming down after 10am. Wow, what a difference. Very pretty waterfall and very manageable hike.

Beautiful falls and an easy hike for all ages. Wildlife is abundant and there is always something interesting to look out. The trail is a little broken up for the last .25 miles, so just be careful with where you step.

Absolutely love this trail. The trail itself is pretty steep on the way up, but there are views all around, so take your time and enjoy the scenery. Every time I drive through the Smokies I make sure to stop at this trail, especially if it's clear and sunny. Last time we were able to spot a black bear alongside the road as we drove to the trail head. There are also plenty of wildflowers growing along the trail as well.

Second time doing this hike, always a good one to stretch the legs. Nice time chatting with the thru-hikers this time of year and spreading a little trail magic!

Great hike. Stopped at Jump Off as well. Beautiful views!

The steep drop-offs made me nervous, but it was a beautiful hike and the waterfall was an amazing destination.

A beautiful short "walk in the woods" Most of the way out to the falls is a gentle uphill and it is only a little more than a mile out. This path is all paved and the hike is good for all ages. Not a lot of parking so you should probably plan on being there early

Nice paved trail. Takes some effort getting up but it’s totally worth it. It is a little colder at the top but so so beautiful. My husband proposed to me up there and it was a wonderful memory I’ll never forget!!

Awesome! We loved it! It’s cold up there and VERY windy so be prepared. Totally worth it though. With the paved path easy for the kids too!

Wow...moderate maxed out!

Not really a trail. A steep short paved path up to the observation tower. A decent amount of people around and some AT-thru hikers starting in early April. A nice little shop and bathrooms by the large parking lot.

beautiful view. step hike, but worth it

Nice morning runs from Gatlinburg hotels

Did this one 4-13-18 it was a great hike difficult on the way back it was a steady steep climb until almost to the end ! The waterfall was beautiful!! Worth the climb!

This is a great trail overall and mostly moderate. I will say the actual .3 miles on the jump off trail are more on the strenous/hard side with steep ups and downs, but the view at the end is worth the hike up there. Definitely a must do while in the Smokies!

Great hike with beautiful views and spectacular waterfall!!

I wouldn’t call this a hiking trail by any means, I honestly wouldn’t have walked up if it weren’t for my significant other telling me how amazing it was. Granted the view from the top was amazing and there are real trails that lead up to the same place you can hike if you want the true experience, but honestly the crowds and actual trail makes me want to rate this as 1 star the view makes me want to rate this as 5.

Beautiful view and falls were amazing. Good for beginners or young people. Only downside was super crowded.

Nice hike waterfalls worth the hike. You would enjoy it more if you don’t have young children. It was a bit crowded but we expected that.

Very steep climb, but beautiful view from the top. Paved trail, and the Appalachian Trail crosses near the top.

Easy trail, beautiful falls.

Very foggy that day

Great day hike, but you really should consider adding the Jump Off at the end.
Very nice views along the route. As many have noted, the Bunion is crowded with day hikers and thru hikers. There's room to at the viewpoint depending on your confidence and adventure level.

I would recommend combining this with the Jump Off trail -- this is an unofficial trail about 2.7 miles in from the Newfound Gap parking lot on the AT which is marked at the junction that says to Mt Leconte and Jump Off. About .10 miles down the trail there will be another sign for Jump Off. The payoff is a gorgeous panoramic with very little people there.
I did the Jump Off on the way back.
In all, makes for a nice 10 miler and not a bad way to spend the day on the mountain.

Really enjoyed this. Easy trail follows river. Road into National Park is nearby which detracts, but you eventually get away from it. As you get closer to the visitors center, the trail is part of a maintenance road.

Took this trail two days ago. Not what I was hoping for. Very very busy. The trail is paved but run down to about 3 feet across. A bit of an incline but manageable. The last half mile could be nerve racking to anyone that don’t like heights. The trail followed a ledge and rude hikers all over that are looking down the whole way and not watching where they are going. Causing people to hug the ledge. For an adult family it’s ok but anyone with little ones please control them and hold the tightly.

The falls were good but we visited at a way to busy of a time which ruined it for us. One infant had pooped there pants and the mother was washing it at the base of the first section of falls. Everyone below got to enjoy. The vehicle traffic was worse to get out. Tourist trap for sure.

We accessed the trail head by the rainbow falls parking area. Road was closed so we had to hike to the trail head. There are two options to get to the trail head. First option is to take the paved road all the way to the Grotto falls trail head, Good incline the whole way with a couple of stop points to look at the view of the mountains. Second option is about half mile in you will see a sign for Trillium gap trail. Go right in the woods then left up the hill. This is a much better hike but harder. It follows the paved path but much closer to nature in my opinion.

We saw three bear, a bob cat and a deer almost ran into us on the trail. The Grotto falls trail was busy and it was busy at the falls. Total trip was around 5 miles with the road being closed. Worth it to walk behind the falls.

We took the pavement path back.

Very nice trail, crowded right now due to springbreak.

Fair, moderate hike. The views at the end are nice if you can get to the highest viewpoint, but unfortunately there's only room for about 2 people. Trail is mostly shaded and wet in several spots. The parking lot was full, but only a few folks ventured onto the trail. There is a restroom at the trailhead.
