Have done this trail twice both times in early April, bring spikes due to the ice in the trail. Beautiful views of the smokies in multiple locations. One of my favorite trails.

spectacular waterfall. worth the climb up. pretty strenuous last 2 miles

Well defined trail, wet at times but not really muddy. Very heavy on traffic. A lot of people like to hang out at the falls, but it was still enjoyable on a Thursday afternoon during the shoulder season.

Hardest hike done so far, but well worth it!

I went on this trail and it had the best views I’ve ever seen

Beautiful! I am a beginning again hiker. It has been decades since I hiked. This was the longest trail I’ve done so far. I enjoyed the hike so much. It was tough but I survived. It had the water flowing parallel with the trail. It had some steep hills both ways and of course the hardest was the uphill after the waterfall visit. The waterfall was beautiful. There were a lot of families so it’s great family time. Bring band-aids because someone is sure to scrape something playing on the boulders.

Awesome hike! Me and my wife starting hiking the trail around 8 am. the forest was foggy and everything was beautiful. Only thing is there was a couple there that hogged Charles bunion most of the time. other than that, beautiful hike.

Absolutely loves hiking this. Was a challenge but once we made it to the top, it was well worth it.
The view is absolutely breath taking.

The hike was great. Definitely come early to get parking since it’s limited. I would also rate it a moderate hike. Good hike for families to bring kids. The falls was beautiful. Saw two salamanders when I got it the falls.

The trail is rocky and well maintained. It took us about 3 hours to hike up but we were carrying larger packs because we camped out a few nights. There are plenty of places to refill water so no real need to cary more than you absolutely need. The parking lot is plenty large but still recommend getting there early as Alum Cave Trail is the busiest. We probably met 50-100 hikers climbing up as we came back down (the reason I rated it only 4 stars). Next trip to Leconte, we will take a less popular trail.

We had a great hike and gave our adult children all they wanted in a day hike. Beautiful scenery and amazing trails. Well worth the climb.

We were hiking this trail when it was little rain and that was awesome experience, overall this trail is amazing with beautiful views ,very recommended

Great walk and beautiful falls. When the reviews say “heavily trafficked” they aren’t joking. It’s almost too busy to walk it but once you navigate around the people, it’s nice.

Difficult on the way up but the virws are beautiful. Much easier on the way down. Worth the climb!

Fully paved walkway with a great prize at the end of the trail. There is a nice resting spot with a bench and a view at the .7 mile marker. shortly after this the trail levels out and depends slightly.

Absolutely spectacular. Definitely worth the climb. The drive up to trail head was a little adventure as the road has many holes and is not well kept.

A bit more challenging going up than expected, but we were also trying to keep a fast pace. Slippery in spots when coming down- hiking boots recommended if it’s rained recently. Saw a mother bear and her two cubs in a tree which was awesome! Pretty trail and pretty falls

Great trail for our family with small children. Easy enough for young hikers but with enough trail features to create several teachable moments. We will definitely visit again!

Easy walk through mostly dry river bed when we were there (Aug 28th) I really enjoyed the views of smooth side walls and searching for the pictographs. We found them in two completely different areas. Met a local and explored the opposite direction of the waterfalls after we were done there. Lots of rocks, boulders and cairns along the way until we saw a cave up high to our left. It looks like a big sand castle! Not a challenging hike but fun to explore.

It had been raining & it made it (the falls) all the more beautiful. Beautiful walking through the woods. All uphill the first 1.3 and then down hill back.

Great views!

I can't give this anything better than "average" until they reopen the full trail. Pretty tough hike for anyone not in shape, straight up most of the way with a few views. End section to the Chimney Tops is closed (gated and spiked). Park Service built a little overlook pad but doesn't compare at all to the chimney tops. Park Service needs to make reopening this a priority!

Good hike, moderate hills, descents, and flat sections. Falls and pool below falls is great reward. Decent crowds but not annoyingly so.

More people than water on this one. Was disappointed with the falls, particularly given how crowded it was. One or two nice overlooks on the way up...but main take away was either come early or late, or just spend time on other longer/harder trails to avoid people.

Enjoyable trail. Mostly covered mossy forest a good bit of the way. Charlies Bunion is a very cool spot. Definitely watch your footing and your kids!

Great trail and pretty falls. Just a warning...we were there yesterday and there was a fairly large and active yellow jacket nest in the ground right next to the trail. It’s maybe a half mile and those suckers were aggressive. I was stung a couple times and heard of others that were as well.
