Says dog friendly, but we drove an hour and a half to essentially be told we would have to carry him to the gorge floor. Don't be fooled, you can totally enjoy all the other loops; like we did! The gorge floor is permit only and NOT, NOT a real path. It is a foot path at a 45 incline up and down through the forest over roots and slippery rocks. It is a treacherous hike. The only path we couldn't go on way the "Hurricane Outlook" path because people had died there the day before. The stairs are a fun one, but if you get easily dizzied or don't like hieghts, I recommend you do NOT do it. I wish I would've known about the gorge floor thing before we had gotten there so I wouldn't have been disappointed.

Tough hike for me but well worth the views at the top. Will do this one again.

Trail was kinda rough and saw a large snake so was nervous for the rest of hike.

Solid trail for a quick hike that’s not too far from Atlanta. Rolling hills and some narrow stretches to keep things interesting but nothing too crazy. Good for all ages.

Love this trail especially as a newer trail runner. Nice staff at the visitors center as well.

Good hike

Offers a different overlook perspective of the canyon. I especially like the large boulders overlook. The sections that are near water are beautiful. If you want to see rhododendron, this is the trail you want.

Hike killed me but great view

Steady climb all the way up. Some great views at the top. Fun trail.

Awesome hike!

We did the West Rim loop along with Hemlock and Cherokee falls. This place has the feeling of being out west when your actually in Ga. It is a busy spot, but well worth fighting the crowds to see some once an a lifetime spots.

This was a pretty fun trail overall a lot of somewhat steep ups and downs and a few tight switchbacks mixed in with a bit of mud and river handrailing. If your an experienced hiker this trail is on the high side of moderate for you but for the average hiker it could be considered hard. There is a $5.00 parking fee (don't be that guy, pay to play and pick up your crap). There is a campsite at the top (3116 ft) but all sites must be reserved but I'm my opinion its worth it due to the fact it comes with benches and a fire pit/grill. Follow the orange markers and you can't go wrong.

Difficult but beautiful hike. I definitely underestimated the 8 miles. You must pay $5 for parking, or risk a $175 fine.

What a wonderful trail for a hike! This was my first time. Wonderful views and places to explore with water views, rocks to climb on, and bamboo area. Beautiful. It would have been tough to run if newer to trail running but great hike. Will definitely be back.

We did the stairs and the bridge. We were going to do some trails but ended up helping some elderly people up the stairs and were exhausted by the time we finished carrying them up. Loved the views though

We did the rim trails and the stairs to the bottom of gorge. We missed getting a pass but without pass you still get to go down to bottom. The pass would be much cooler but the only difference is it allows you to get in water & climb on the rocks. All in all a cool experience. And yes a TON of stairs.

Pretty quiet. Good run. Steady mild ups or downs. Finished next to a nice small lake. Drinking fountain in parking lot. No restrooms. Good wildlife sounds.

While beautiful, I feel like this was a glorified park and not a true hiking experience. I would definitely plan on getting there early to get a permit to go down into the gorge (only 100 per day) - be prepared for the water and a more strenuous trek if you get the chance to do this part of the park.

Love this Trail. It is a little piece of heaven in the middle of suburbia!

I absolutely love this trail. There are plenty of different routes you can take - for those who prefer an easier walk, or something more challenging. It’s very scenic so there’s always something to look at. There is also a dog beach off to the left which is a lot of fun! It’s perfect when the water is low, but after it’s been raining, it’s a little too full to walk out anywhere. Just beware of the parking situation, as there is limited spots and it gets VERY busy on a nice weekend. (Also parking is $5 - cash only).

This is my favorite of all the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area Parks in metro ATL. It has some nice hills, beautiful views along the river, and a good amount of total trail mileage. The bamboo forest is always enchanting and try to find the cave off a side trail. The only downside is that parking can be difficult during busy times. And one way roads in some areas to the parking area so can be tricky. But it's usually not an issue and definitely worth a visit.

LOTS of people there the first week of July when we were there. Enjoyed all the overlooks and the suspension bridge.

So many stairs!!! The suspension bridge was awesome. The trails were very well maintained and we were greeted with a map and verbal directions.

love this trail! great boulders in the river for relaxing, and a decent workout too. the ruins are cool.

challenging enough to be fun :) some decent views, lots of birds. some great spots for running & leaping over roots

If you don't want to test yourself by going up and down the steps, the Rim trails are easy to walk and show off the scope of the Gorge. But if you do want the workout, take the steps at an even pace and keep breathing! Looking across the Gorge from one Wallenda tower to the other gave me chills. Lots of crowds, so there's litter. Take in the theater and information posts when you are done sweating and need the break.

This is an excellent hike for a lazy Sunday afternoon. The trail system is well marked and maintained. Trail follows the river for a good portion of the hike. We didn't see many people at all on the sunny Sunday afternoon.
