Great hike. We camped at Emerald Lake and it was a beast with camping gear. In the morning we threw on day packs and hit the summit. Amazing views.

I love this hike. So beautiful and a great escape from the heat. Amazing views and the best reward; silver lake.

Got an early start to this hike (around 7-8) and it was a little chilly. The first 1/3 of the hike is in a beautiful aspen forest. Couldn’t get enough of the foliage! The hike then opens up and you’re able to see some beautiful views of the back of timpanogos. After a short steep section to the top, we were rewarded with a view of the amazing lake. It was around 9 at that point but the lake was warm enough that I took a quick swim. Beautiful clear lake! As we descended it got really crowded so I suggest if you want to have this lake to yourself come early.
All in all one of my favorite hikes out there.

Wonderful trail! The lake is crystal-clear. If you want to avoid crowds, go early in the morning.

Entire summit was about 17.3 miles. We hiked it from 10am until 7pm. Very difficult but definitely worth it (especially seeing the mountain goats near emerald lake on the way up and way back down)! The air quality is really bad right now so the views are pretty hazy. But you should still make it to the shack for that overall sense of accomplishment! We saw a lot of people backpacking in around 6-7pm with hopes of camping. There didn't seem to be a ton of places to camp so that was interesting. A fellow hiker told us the chipmunks are so bad up there, they'll eat through anything you have. Anyways, do this one. You may hurt the next day but it's worth it!

We looked all over Utah valley area trying to find a good hike for our small family reunion—something young kids, grandparents and pregnant women could do but also something that outdoor enthusiasts and avid hikers would enjoy. This hike was perfect. The drive is scenic and beautiful. The trail is lovely, albeit short, with meadows and (sometimes) flowers and spectacular views right off the path. The view right before the last ascent of the hike is lovely, and those who felt unable to climb the last bit felt satisfied to stay there. The views at the top are splendid though, and it’s not a long climb up the steep part. We enjoyed this trail so much we’ve been back twice since.

awesome

Great hike! Be sure to bring lots of water, and if you're going to bring your dog, pack them lots of water too if it's hot. About half way up the tree cover is very sparse and it can get hot in the summer.

This hike is so AMAZING. The shack! The goats! The mountain meadows! The 3 waterfalls! Loved it!

Amazing hike! This is definitely one of our favorite.

It's a burner. But it's beautiful.

Ran out of water just after the saddle - after that, the riverbeds are dry-washes and the next time you'll see water is just before Emerald Lake. There's a small spring trickling out of the rocks on the south end of the saddle. If you're not looking/listening, you'll miss it.

It was a beautiful hike. Hard, but rewarding.

Not a great hike but its short and has a decent view of the valley.

Great easy hike with incredible views. Our 3yo hiked the whole way no problem.

I stopped doing keto and began using carbs again and the hike was way easier for me (I had a hard time on the horse flat which was rated as easy).
More for hiking rather than sightseeing/hiking.
Should actually take the "views" tag out of the details.
Mostly incline and very rocky.
If you roll your ankles a lot you should buy good hiking shoes/boots or watch where you step.
Going up took an hour and a half and around 45 minutes to get back down.

First timers for my brother in law and I. That mess was hard lol. Ran out of water at the saddle. Luckily the park ranger had a water purification system and helped us out. Definitely take something like Powerade or an electrolyte drink. Not just water. That rock path sucks. Seeing the goats made it worth it all

I did not do the cave tour because tickets were sold out today so will give it 3 stars but the hike is a good cardio , I have enjoyed the workout. Next time will make sure to do the tour.

Emerald Lake to the Summit was extremely difficult (I’m not used to high altitudes, and there’s a lot of steep and/or loose rock to climb). But the views and feeling of accomplishment are so worth it. Just make sure you pace yourself for what your body needs, and look up often enough to know where the trail is. It’s discouraging to get off track when you’re tired. The trail is much easier to find coming down.

Really liked this trail. Only reason I’m giving it 4 is due to how heavily trafficked it is. Camped a bit below emerald lake for a bit more seclusion.

Meh. More for the workout, not the views.

It's a fun trail to do at least once to get a great few of the valley. I powered through it so I was able to get through the whole hike in 3.5 hours. The very end felt like the hardest part because of it's continuous incline

We started around 2:30 am to make it up for sunrise. I was skeptical but it was well worth it. We are pretty fast hikers and it took us about 6 1/2 hours of actual hiking time. Views are unreal

Hiked this last weekend and it was hot! After the first 1/4 mile, the trail is pretty exposed so try to hike early! The dirt road to get to the parking lot is pretty rough if you have a passenger car. The hike itself is fairly easy.. however, if you choose to hike up to silver glance lake from silver lake.. it climbs 800 feet in 3/4 of a mile so it does take it out of you! Otherwise very pretty and a lot of places to relax around the lake.

Beautiful hike that gets surprisingly hard towards the top. Just be prepared it gets steep the last .5 Miles. Just for that I think it may deserve a Hard rating. The rest is Moderate and pretty shaded overall.

Went on this hike during heat of the day. Thankfully there are water crossings about 5 times spread out along the hike so the pup could take a cold sip and dip. The views are incredible.

Very mellow hike if you are advanced. Wear good shoes there is a rock pile for about a mile of the hike near the saddle that is very difficult to maneuver on and if you don’t have a rock plate you feel every bit of it. Beautiful 360 views, great salt lake views, emerald lake was stunning and very cold. 3 hours to the top for advanced fast pace hikers. Expect to take 5 hours up if you are not.

I went on this hike with my grandparents, aunts, and younger cousins and although it was a fairly steep path, they all made it to the top just fine.

Great views. Uphill the whole way. Bring lots of water. There is shade and benches for resting. Great workout - took us about 90 mins up and back but we didn’t visit inside the cave because we didn’t know you have to buy tickets to tour prior - you can buy them there but we got there about 11am and wouldn’t have been able to get in a tour until 4pm. Recommend making online reservations. But still cool to make it to the top without going in the cave. A lot of families on the trail - a lot of the kiddos were crying or tired so depending on your child’s activity level they may not love it.

Beautiful. From ~9500 feet on its a rock scramble but worth it. Look out for rattlesnakes at 10,500 feet.

Very beautiful hike with amazing views of the many trees and surrounding mountains this time of year. Also, the lake at the end is very rewarding. Pace yourself, bring plenty of water and maybe some snacks. Overall a very pleasant hike.
