A few inclines on the way in but the rest is downhill. A few Nice little waterfalls.

A nice little hike. Enough to get my blood pumping.

Pretty slick and snowy, but well worth it.

This has been rebuilt and much steeper than before!!! Trail is going from rock step to rock step and kinda like doing high hurdles... lifting each foot up high but worth it

Great first hike of 2019! I really recommend microspikes as it is slick and icy.

Need spikes right now on this one.

Challenging climb but worth it!

Gorgeous green mossy woods with several waterfall crossings. Also saw elk at the end!

Rangers recommmended that I did not go up the royal arch without micro spikes! Flat irons loop was icy and snowy as it is!

Easy and beautiful. The trail was a little wet but nothing hazardous unless you’re climbing down to see the falls up close. The drive to the trail is a little iffy, only because there are so many huge potholes everywhere. Easy hike, will do again soon!

a challenging hike especially if you’re not used to the elevation. Incline right away and pretty much the whole time, but definitely worth it.

Definetly the hardest hike I’ve been on, bring lots of water and a small snack. If you’re from the Midwest like myself be prepared for the elevation difference, lots of yawns.

I accidentally ended up on this trail after starting the flatirons loop and losing my way, and I'm so glad I did! The trail was definitely a bit challenging, by the time I was near the top I was asking people coming down how far it was. The incline is pretty steep for the first majority of the hike, but as you near the end the trail dips back down a bit before heading up, which gives those muscles a break for the last stretch. There are some sketchy climbs on big rocks, but I'm a very cautious hiker and it was nothing I couldn't handle. The view from the top is BREATHTAKING, not to mention the arch itself is of course cool (though I'm from Utah, so I have high standards when it comes to arches). My only big issue was portions of the trail with a certain amount of mud and snow; which of course I kind of signed myself up for by hiking in January. I would recommend this hike to anyone who likes a challenge, pretty trails surrounded by trees, and great views.

We visited this trail on January 2nd when the state parks were free the moss was a bright green! A great hike for dogs. We saw a few waterfalls with on the maple trail.

We saw 20-30 other groups out on this trail during our 3 hour hike today. Gorgeous views. No snow on the trail, but icy in spots as was mentioned a few days ago.

Loved it!

I hiked this with a group in the fall. Outstanding hike and view at the arch. Hoping to trail run up to the "false summit" in the near future.

Nice short hike, rather steep, cool arch. Currently icy in spots, microspikes very helpful.

Absolutely loved this trail! It was difficult and beautiful with an amazing arch worth hiking to. We hiked in Arches NP previously and this arch rivals many there, in fact, we were able to get directly under this one and were impressed with its size. The trail was well marked, offered varied terrain, and excellent views. The elevation, icy surfaces, steep inclines, and rock scrambles provided a nice challenge for us, but may make it challenging for some. Many parts of the trail had a thin layer of snow over solid ice, so consider wearing shoes with good traction.

Great trail for a half-full day adventure the view at the top is so worth the trek. It may be a tough little hike for small kids, out of shape adults or those tourists coming from sea level so plan accordingly. I will do this one once a year now that I know its there.

I would highly recommend wearing spikes. It was extremely icy- especially closer to the arch. There were point I was crawling on all fours and had to slide down some parts on my butt because it was so icy. Beautiful views though!

Fun to get there! Lots of cool places to climb off trail and great views. Went in December- be prepared for cold weather and ice. Take extra traction if possible to make it easier, not impossible without though.

Enjoyable hike through moss covered trees and brides

My partner and I hiked Royal Arch Dec 26th. We left the pup at home, and I’m glad we did because some parts were icy and a little bit more difficult to traverse. I was surprised to see so many folks of all ages on the trail despite being the day after the holiday and how slippery some of the inclines were. It took slightly longer than I had expected but not too bad. I’m glad the weather held off until after we finished though, because I definitely did not look at the forecast. I would recommend making sure it isn’t going to snow/rain for about three hours before embarking.

Overall, the views were great and the arch is bigger than I expected based on the photo. Glad I brought a full bottle of water and let my small pup at home.

A nice family hike. There were definitely some slippery spots, but overall a pretty easy hike.

I have hiked this several times. Great little trail to bring kids on! My four year old mad it up this last summer with some hand-holding and assistance in narrow areas (we stayed up at the lookout and didn't descend to the falls). Last summer my 9 year old made it just fine and we did go down and dip our feet in on a hot day. Very pretty. Just don't be like me and fall in trying to get a photo....the water stays cold! (:
In the summer the lot can get full, but I've never had too much of an issue finding a place to park. Short, but sweet.

Excellent hike with a beautiful view your reward after steep climbing. Spikes needed in some areas today. Not all the great arches are in Utah!

Hiked this mid day on 12/22. Light snow to start then clouds and sun. Second half of the trail is steep and a fair amount of ice. Most people were in tennis shoes but we saw quite a few falls. We were happy to have poles and microspikes. The views from the arch are amazing. Great photo opp.

Hiked this today on 12/20. Great hike, with a steady incline the whole way (except near the arch). Would have been awesome if it weren’t for the ice that covered most of the trail. We only had hiking boots, but poles and traction would have helped. It’s manageable with just boots, but watch your step, and be wary for black ice. No snow on the trails as of today.

This is a hard hike but also really pretty. There was too much snow after the no stoves point so we couldn’t finish the trail.
