Love this hike in the morning. Great sunrise over the mountains.

Don’t believe the pictures. If you follow the highlighted trail it DOES NOT take you in front of the Hollywood sign. You get a quick side view. Otherwise, the overlooks are nice and it’s a good workout.

I spent all day at this hiking site!
The main trail is intensive at the beginning with great views of the mountains and city. After reaching the top there’s a cool rock structure you can climb for a much better view of the sunset!
From there the rest of the trail is much smoother. Towards the other end of the road ( Franklin Canyon Park) there is a lake (no swimming) with tables benches to seat. There is parking and has access to restrooms on both ends of the trail (Lake Dr) and Franklin Canyon P! Totally recommend!

To call this concrete walkway a trail or this walk a hike is a blow off the water lie.

This is NOT a trail, but a concrete walk build around a human made lake.

Often times, depending on time and day, it is over crowded. Not uncommon to run into groups of three or four people walking next to each other taking the whole path and blocking others. you have to ether ask them to move or go around them. Complete disregard for others. Not surprising, people often do that on the bike path around the park, why not here?

The best thing about this walk is to watch the ducks swans. But at the same time it can be upsetting. I have seen plenty of people feeding them even though there are signs that clearly state not to do it. It affects their migration habits and it is illegal. But people do it anyway. I suppose some people think signs and laws do not apply to them.

Perhaps my review is a bit more “negative” than others, but I crew up in the Valley and have frequented this park and many others and I have seen this park go from bad to worst. More and more people and people using it few good parks we have in the Valley in very selfish ways. At the same time I am not one to sugar coat things. Yes, it’s a pretty place with some beautiful animals, but it does have it’s downfalls.

Unless it’s raining, do not expect to spend some nice quite time. If you want some alone time and quite time, just you and nature, this is not the place for you.

Great hike if you like some challenge and don’t have a lot of time. Wear sunscreen as you are quite exposed.

Fairly moderate incline; is nice for a quick (usually takes me 1-1.5 hours walking) hike. Love to take the dogs here when it's cool enough. Great views. Water near the end for humans and doggos. Parking is occasionally full, but I can always find a spot nearby in the neighborhood.

One of my favorite places to hike. It’s more of a walk than a hike. I’m surprised it was ranked “moderate”. Nice wide trails. Beautiful view at the “top” where the dog water fountain is.

Great for social walk. Great run for beginners. About 1.3 miles around the lake.

This was one of the more scenic hikes I’ve done in LA. The views (on a clear day) are amazing and once you hit the peak you get a nice [reward] panoramic view of the shoreline and cityscape. I clocked in 7 miles from start to finish on this one. I would rate this as an easy to moderate hike. It’s an incline for most of the way up (not TOO steep but does give you a workout) but there are many parts of level ground. What makes it a bit more strenuous is the distance. The trail is exposed so bring hats, wear sunscreen and bring water. I went around 2pm and ran into hikers/bikers maybe every quarter mile or so, not too busy. Saw people coming up to the overlook point from different trails so assuming many other trails lead to this peak.

Hike here four days a week and it’s a lovely trail. I’ve never encountered any scary wildlife. People are very friendly.

I'm laying here after hiking and I don't know if it's the sun or just taking the more challenging parts of trail but I'm tired... lol This is a nice hike. What I like about it is that it is challenging enough to hike/run without being disappointed that there were no ocean views because of the haze. There is no shade so be sure to stay hydrated or hike closer to sunset. This trail is dog-friendly so be on the lookout since some people some don't pick up after their dogs.

The fire road trail is wide and paved in a way that is versatile enough to hike/bike ride and have your dog off-leash. On this particular day it was kind of hazy so I didn't get the clearest views of the ocean but I read that in a clear day you can see to Catalina. Always be aware that not only are there lizards and snakes but also dog poop to watch for. Also know that some of the mountain bikers come down hill quickly so be alert.

This was my first time but I found out about it because I wanted a trail that was close enough that I could take the dog with he visits. I like that there is a parking lot but also adequate street parking. Respect the neighborhood and when you visit we shouldn't have to worry about permits when the lot is full.

With nice views, a versatile trail and being another gem on the west side I can say that I would recommend this trail for those looking for a little bit of a challenge. Stay hydrated.

This place was beautiful, even though when you get there they have a bomb of trials and some don’t even continue it was beautiful. Very simple for beginners the views of the pond are beautiful, fun to be adventurous and seeing what you find. Once you hit the main trail it’s a good work out.

Havent done the whole trail, although the part I did, seemed fairly easy.

I love the pond which includes koi, fish and geese!

A nice place to take a lesson experienced friend or family member :)

Fun fire roads for easy mountain biking.

great views! I took my dog with me and we had a great time

right amount of exercise 1 hour loop

Fun, easy hike. Great views and feels like you are out of the city for most of it.

The best hike I've ever been so far. Amazing mountain views from the 1st minute.
Be aware - not a lot shade! Better to come in the morning.

It was more of a walk than a hike. Plenty of people around and a nice stroll through the residential neighborhood.

I liked this hike cuz it was easy :)

A bit crowded on the weekend. I went in September and it was a bit hot. But still a decent hike.

Great hike! Loved the different trail options and the view of the water.

Great trail, beautiful views! Would put this towards more moderate but well worth it. We got there early, 8.30am Saturday morning and were only a couple of other people around. Got a lot busier on the way back around 11am.

Love it! Plenty of trashcans along the trail for your dog bags. Parking was not a problem. Only confusing bit is part of the trail is just the sidewalk of a residential street. Also restrooms were out of toilet paper.

Training for a bigger trip with a 50 lb backpack, not my favorite place to hike by far, not a fan of the LA city hikes, but served its purpose for a short commute and quick hike for lunch.
