Perfect for kids! So fun

Okay, new favorite hike. Except my friend and I were grossly underprepared for how much water we needed. We hadn’t really researched this hike before hand and thought it was much shorter than it was. However, going the extra mile(s) (LITERALLY) made all the difference. It was so worth it even though I can’t move today. Perfect Mt. Timp. training(which is what we’re doing). There are parts where you have to practically boulder. So be prepared for your arms to get a work out as well, especially if you’re shorter like me. Bring LOTS of water. We spent the entire day, from 6:30am-8:30pm hiking and exploring the trails off it and the waterfalls., making our hike at least 9.5 miles long. We were taking lots of breaks for fuel and hydration. If you go when it’s super hot like we did, make sure you dip your hat in the water anytime the river meets the trail. For me, this is the hardest hike, or even any kind of physical activity, I have ever done. To be able to accomplish it made me feel really great about myself because I actually had it in me to do something this hard. Every step of the way is worth it, bringing all new kinds of beauty.

Once you get past the lake, the trail is much more fun and the waterfall and surrounding canyon walls are stunning. I wouldn't rate this as difficult especially compared to Mt Olympus..

Worthy of a visit. It's a very simple, well-worn trail to follow and there are some nice views at the falls. You won't be disappointed

I went about a month ago and my mom's friend tore a ligament plus the hike is not moderate at all it is really hard.

Wow, 3.5 miles of ascent and the last half mile is a challenge for sure. Found the peak (mailbox and US flags)! Super view from on top!

We saw a rattlesnake on the horse trail about 200 yards south of the Orson Smith trailhead about 10 AM today.

It had about 6 rattles and slithered off into a small patch of scrub oak. It did rattle eventually inside the clump of brush but it wasn't coiled when we saw it.

I hike the trails in the area about once per week. This was the first rattler I've seen on the mountain.

tuve la oportunidad de llegar hasta la punta, fue una gran experiencia, me gusto mucho, volveria a subir...

I did this loop earlier today...did a little geocaching and then because I am a glutton for punishment I hiked up to the lower falls. Both are good hikes....just different and the difficulty level is harder for the lower falls. This loop trail still gives you a workout because the first part of it is going uphill so ignore the difficulty level rated as easy and give it a try and if it's not enough then go up to the falls....I am sure that will be enough unless you are in incredible shape. have a good one all.

My favorite waterfall! very whimsical and peaceful. It is a short hike and great for yoga/meditation or pondering time. The waterfall is breathtaking tucked around Rocky mountain and forestry. I go here often to relax...

Amazing hike, crazy steep and unrelenting climb with few flatter areas but the views at the top were so worth it!

Hiked this with a group of 12 20-somethings on a Saturday from 7:30am-12:30pm round trip. The key for us: weather. The hike is difficult no doubt, but manageable for all of us across a range of athleticism. The boulder scramble at the top weeded out a few, but the view from the summit was WELL worth it. Crucially, though, the day we went was overcast and temps stayed between 75-85 with even a little drizzle on the way down; this felt perfect to us. If you want to make the hike a little easier, search for a day that’s gonna be overcast but not very rainy (rain makes the rocks at the top dangerous). Hard to find in UT summers, but makes a big difference.

This trail is a strenuous one. It’s nearly a mile from the parking lot to the trailhead, so plan accordingly. The temps were right around 100 in early July, so bring plenty of water. Steep steps and large rocks are prevalent for much of the hike, but the waterfall is a beautiful destination. The upper portion is even steeper than the lower, but it’s worth the wobbly legs you’ll have at the end of the hike!

I started at 9:30 AM and finished the round trip at around 2:00. It is definitely a good workout... I would recommend bringing a lot of water and leaving earlier in the day.

Beautiful trail! The lake is gorgeous. Highly recommend.

6 am start and had shade pretty much the whole way up. A lot of high-stepping on this hike, definitely works the quads and calves! For comparison, it’s MUCH more difficult than Lake Blanche.

With that being said, it’s definitely worth the summit! Spectacular views at the top.

beautiful, shaded, and not too long. I was able to get up to the falls after work in the evening and race the sunset back down the mountain in just a couple of hours. gorgeous views and it was too crowded on a Friday night.

GO early! very little shade and it was pretty warm by 930 am.
Easy hike... up hills and down hills. beautiful views.
bathroom in parking lot is clean. parking lot small, but if you go early no problem.
we used walking sticks and glad we had them. suspension bridge was a great photo opportunity. walk the trail past the bridge a mile or more and fun rock formation to walk through. fun for children.

Amazing trail! Pretty easy until the last part to the falls. I did see a mountain lion on the trail a while back. Probably not there anymore and very unlikely to see one, but be cautious!

Loved this trail. It wasn’t too hard to do even for a newbie like me and my pup. She enjoyed the views and getting out. Luckily I brought lots of water for me and her. Make sure you bring water for yourself and your dogs there’s not much to keep you out of the sun most of the trail so hydration is key!

Very nice hike with great views over the city for the first part. Definitely worth going all the way to the falls! The trail isn’t perfectly marked, but it not difficult to follow.

Only about .20 miles from the trailhead, steep steps at the beginning but pretty easy and short. Past the waterfall is very steep and slippery, don’t let young kids climb up there (learned that the hard way).

beautiful short hike! waterfall at end is bonus!

trail is well maintained. easy to moderate. view and bridge is bonus at the end. best to hike in the early early morning!

This trail is rated at a hard but we did this on July 4th and it was relatively easy until you got to the last half mile. The last half mile is kind of steep but the water fall at the end is totally worth it.

4 start for the lack of shade, but if your hiking this trail, you know what it’s about before you start. It’s well worth the work.

The trail is beautiful. It is difficult but the waterfalls are awsome. Really enjoyed this beautiful trail. Should take plenty of water as during hiking you will not find drinking water.

I was aching to try this hike alone and see what kind of time I could get. I felt really good about my 2 hours and 12 minutes to the top. It took a good 3 days to recover but now I am itching to go back. So Amazing! Hard on the knees.

Intermediate to advanced hiker.

Started at just before 8am, got to the top in ~2.5 hours. Drank 40 fl oz of water. Mostly all shade at this time. Pretty intense hike given how short it is and how much elevation gained. The scramble isn't bad, short with lots of good footing and edges to leverage with hands.

Descending down was mostly not in the shade. It got hot fast. I missed how long it took me to get down but only had 25 fl oz left, wish I had more. I also wish I had started earlier to avoid more of the heat.

Lots of lose rocks coming down the scramble. From the saddle on, the path is narrow with lots of big enough rocks that you can't rush it much. Ran into a few rattle snakes. Some sections towards the last half of the hike descending that you can rush by running.

The views are great.

It is a steep hike, but is very short. It’s beautiful once you get up there, just watch out for the ducks and geese
