Saw 2 moose on trail on way back down from Blanche at 8:45am. One got a little aggressive and charged a hiker coming up the trail, but did not make contact. Whoa! Heads up!

This is absolutely one my All Time favorite summits in Utah. I love it because it’s steep and relatively a short 3.3 mile to the top. My personal record to the summit stands at 1 hour 37 min and little under 41 mins to run back down to the trailhead. As of December 8th, I have summited Mt. Olympus 16 times in 2018.

Beautiful day on trail in the snow, handful of hikers. Spotted moose off trail, took nice photo. Hikers I bumped into reported 3 moose on trail and said a bull acted aggressive. Turned around .5 mile from top (not interested in bumping into aggressive bull so turned bag. Wore Salomon Speedcross GTX with gaiters and tights, was enough, brought poles. Did not need Microspikes, no ice, just new snow coming down today. Enjoy!

Quarry trail parking was covered in packed down snow. Parking across the street was clear. About 3” of snow on the start of the trail, probably 4-6 at the top. You may still be okay without spikes, but I would’ve been faster if I had hem with me. Great option for a regular winter hike.

Awesome views once you get on the top spine of the hike about a mile from the summit. Mount timp looks amazing from here and you can see the Wasatch front for miles in both directions

Great hike with amazing views! Went today and the trail was snow covered with patches of ice so cleats are recommended. We were fortunate to see a moose as well.. highly recommended hike!

A great running spot. Easy access, not too hard, reward with a good view in the end.

There is some trail erosion. Can be crowded over the weekend.

If anyone sees a leatherman in a case, my sister dropped hers (custom made 18 yrs ago) and would love it back if someone picks it up.

I did this hike on Nov 16th, and chose a day that the weather would be pleasant. I recommend bringing sunglasses or a hat because the trail goes southeast the whole way and the sun was right in our eyes. It was a beautiful day, icy but sunny. It was pretty slick on the way down with the hard packed snow, so be sure to have good treads on your boots. If you are with amateurs like I was, I would definitely go early in the day. It will take over 4 hours to go down and back, especially if you want to sit for a while and enjoy the sunshine on the smooth cool-looking rocks up top, overlooking the lake. Once we were out of the sun, it was quite cold so gloves and a hat were nice. We went later in the season, so we only met a couple other hikers along the way. We did come across some deer up close, darting across the trail.

I did this hike as a prep hike the weekend before I did Mt. Whitney. It was my first time doing it even though I have hiked all over the Wasatch Front. I was amazed at how majestic this hike is from beginning to end. It's a great hike to do in the late fall and early winter because it starts at a relatively low elevation compared to most other hikes near Salt Lake City/Sandy, Utah. As such there was little to no snow on the trail. I did it in about 5.5 hours (around 3 hours up, 2.5 hours down).

On the last quarterish mile scramble to the summit, I got misdirected and started ascending the wrong way. Luckily, a dude set me in the right direction (thanks Stu!) and I got to the summit to take in the preposterous views of Salt Lake Valley. Early on in the hike, it also forks and one prong of that fork goes down the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. I walked down that trail for a few hundred meters before I realized my error (thanks to the AllTrails app).

I highly recommend this hike.

Loved every second, on the way up at least

Great hike. Started to snow on the way up and was really slick coming back down. Would suggest micro spikes for the downhill. Beautiful trail, Lake was frozen but still worth it.

Rated at 4 as i lost the trail both up and down and there was a decent amount of bush-whacking/scrambling. Only one area where it was slippery enough to use spikes going up today, about 20 or so feet. 2 hours up.

Sunny. No material wind. Microspikes not needed today. Only a few brief slick areas on trail. Started at 11:20am, 37 degrees at S curve. Parking lot closed for season. Wore tank, baseball cap, wool gloves and tights. Didn’t use wind breaker, could have gone with shorts, would still suggest gloves for top. Took me 1:15 from trail head to top, if you’re somewhere in that range or faster would highly recommend shorts. Enjoy!

Great hike!! Very beautiful scenery, especially at the top. Took about 2hrs to reach the top, moving at a quicker pace. The trail is a steady incline, and very rarely levels out. May prove difficult to someone unaccustomed to physical activity, but certainly doable. Some small ice patches, but not enough for crampons yet. Would definitely recommend grippy shoes/boots and some trekking poles.

I brought two 11 year olds and an 8 year old. The trail got a little bit muddy as it got warmer. Overall, it was really fun and beautiful.

November 10,2018

It was a very easy to follow trail with some beautiful views. Basically all uphill to get there and all downhill coming back so I hope you're in better shape than me. The lake is frozen which was a little dissapointing but still beautiful. There were a couple icy spots on the trail but most of it is still clear. The parking lot is closed for the season. I would recommend starting the hike around noon. We started around 9 and were hiking straight into the sun all morning. Up near the lake are some colorful rock formations that are pretty cool and Sundial Peak is breathtaking.

Are you in shape? Let’s find out! Total workout! Down hill in fall sucks due to all the toe grabbers covered with leaves and steep trail . Bring a sack lunch and water.

Good casual hike. Negligible snow. Minimal ice and mud. Lake was frozen over but not enough to walk on.

From Silver Glance I pretty much went straight up the mountainside to Silver Lake Peak.

Made it to the saddle, about 700 feet from the summit, but time and conditions forced my hand to turn back.

Started to get sketchy at this point of the ridgeline requiring bouldering / scrambling on ice covered rocks with a good depth of snow in some spots.

Disappointed to not summit but proud of myself to be able to summit future summits by not summiting this one.
A different route / time of year / companion(s) are probably needed.

literally best hike ever. I tracked it as 8.3 miles and took 4 hours but would probably take 5 at a more leisurely pace. lots of snow right now! really intense legit a hard hike. climbed 195 flights of stairs. please take a flashlight with you. this trail can take a long time and hiking poles would be smart

Phenomenal views at the top. The hike itself is challenging but more because of the length than the grade or terrain.

So gorgeous! Tough climb up if you’re not a regular hiker but so worth it.

Mild incline, great views. Trail starts out muddy and gets snowy towards the end. You shouldn’t need microspikes just yet, hiking shoes/boots with good traction and/or trekking polls should suffice. It’s much colder at the lake, so make sure you bring adequate clothing to layer up when you get there.

Beautiful went in October and nov colors were beautiful keep going around to see smaller lakes there are a couple of water falls that way defiantly worth the hike

Found a sport dog field trainer thing on the trail. find me on Instagram @savethenegs to retrieve it.

beautiful hike, worth the trip

Spectacular view of the SLC valley! A great Halloween hike!
Dress warm ❄️

Holy crap what a trail!!! Very rewarding and yet hard , not for the fainted heart! Did this hike on Halloween day, you may see snow towards mile 3 once you get to first summit it’s all dried! Lot of people on the trail. Made it to top in 3 hours plus about half hour for breaks and picture takes, coming down was also a little challenging because of the snow that melted and now it was slushy, def hiking poles . Coming down took me 2 hrs.
Layer up as it’s very cold on the scramble area if sun is not out. Happy hiking!
