We went to the overlook point n saw and we were not thrilled and then we drove to the gorge trail head, We started the hike and its less than a mile once we reached the falls it was surely a great feeling. We went after heavy rains so we could see decent amount of water but if you go in mid summer I doubt if you can hardly enjoy the falls. The gorge trail head is right next to Cayuga so we spent some time there as well, worth a visit!!

I have really enjoyed the hike... Upper and middle falls are really close and its not much of a hike, the walk to lower falls is nice the canyon gets deeper and lot of pine trees around its really nice... After the hike dont forget to drive in park road and stop at all the scenic lookout points you will love itt.... Opps I forgot to mention that the middle falls has a rainbow... :), I would love to go back in fall..!!

This is by far one of the best state parks I've been to. A true gem in the state of New York. Plenty of trails and scenic views that take your breath away. If you are looking for a fun getaway this is the place to be.

Really beautiful spot, great view
Wanted to do
The loop but couldn't find the red trail from the top
So next time we will start on the red trail

Love this hike. Dislike the crowds.

Meh. The formations are a neat sight. The trail itself in my opinion is not too exciting. It’s a pretty short hike. There are a few good lookout spots but other than that they are blocked by trees. Some spots are narrow and close to the edge so use caution. The beach/parking lot was crowded.

really cool loop and some great views. the walk along the water was gorgeous and our dog loved swimming in the small waves.

What a great short hike, portage to the foot bridge. Breath taking views of the falls and the foot bridge over the Genesee river. Easy for kids and new hikers.

Was able to do the whole trail right around 2 hours up and down. Definitely a great trail for the short distance.

Great payoff at the top with a fire tower.

Amazing trail ! Going again this weekend.

Taughannock is one of my favorite NYS parks. A must see

nice after a rain.

First 2/3 of hike is quite easy going. Last 1/3 was a steep incline to the fire tower. Very manageable for us. We had our 11 year old son and Boston terrier with us. Would definitely do it again! Beautiful view!

Well worth it. The review below is very helpful, especially the note about the sign for the cliffs which is very easily missed for being so high.

Good easy hike with family and small dog!

Hiked this trail on 8-2-18. It is.not difficult for anyone in normal health I was with two 50 that were able to easily complete the trip.
The trail was well maintained. The views are very nice. There is some interesting moss hanging from the trees. More like something you’d see in Louisiana. The top was busy with people chatting and relaxing. The fire tower offered nice views to many lakes and ponds as well as the mountains. I had binoculars with me which mad viewing even better.
I would do this hike again.

This hike is not long or difficult but is a little challenging. Some definite climbing on rock and do not ever try hike without proper footwear especially if it’s wet. The trail can be a little confusing at times and you will really need to look for the markers. Some stepper rock climbs in the middle of the trail. The really nice thing about the hike is the sneak peak views you get of the lakes while climbing to the top. Of course the best view is saved for last and the tower is open.

Very nice hike , no real challenges just a steady incline. Trail well marked and maintained. As with all firetowers, amazing view at the top.

Great hike for all ages and pups as well! Very easy and short hike. Great for beginners.

A very well-maintained trail with beautiful views from the fire tower. We thought it was perfect; challenging but not too steep. We arrived at 10:30am on a Saturday in early August. The parking lot was half full. When we finished, the lot was nearly full. Out and back took us 3 hours with a leisurely break at the top. We met a lot of friendly hikers. We stopped at the Adirondack Interpretive Center for a picnic lunch on the way home.

Great trail. Short, a bit steep at times but I my 3yo did it while holding my hand. Can get pretty slick in the rain. Go early to beat the crowds but there is actually plenty of room on the trail.

Couldn’t find the walking trail. Wouldn’t recommend this for any walker. It’s behind a gas station very sketchy

This is a very enjoyable hike. The first 1.5 miles is very easy, some rocks and mud here and there, but nothing terrible. Once you see the lake from the trail you are nearing the turn to the cliffs. There are a couple of side trails to campsites and the shore of the lake as well. Once you continue on you will cross a small snowmobile bridge, and shortly after you will see a second one, the turn to the cliffs is just before that second bridge on the right. It would be easy to miss the sign pointing to the cliffs as it higher than expected. The trail up to the cliffs is what you might expect from any Adirondack mountain trail. Nothing terrible, roots and rocks, and some soft muddy spots and blow downs. The trail up is not well marked, but is well worn and easy to follow. I saw three blue trail markers on the way up and down. Take a mental note of where you arrived on top, as nothing is marked and you could start to descend in a different spot. The location of the cliffs is obvious, and very nice. Overall a nice 4 mile hike. Gets the heat pumping.

This is the 2nd time I have done this hike. The trail is VERY well marked and maintained. The path has a mixed terrain in areas with larger rocks to maneuver. There are two areas with a steeper incline and some people may need an assist depending on their skills/abilities/comfort level. The view from the Sumit is a beautiful sight of Blue Mountain lake.

Great hike! Nice trail but easy to miss the trail in the logging roads that are mixed in...

Nice easy hike to the falls, optional walk along the creek bed in sections. Good for kids and dogs!

Lovely moss covered trail with a bit of work at the beginning. Bring bug spray. Be sure to borrow the trail guide (and return it) it has thorough tree and plant identifications. Fav thing was the hugging tree
