This is a fun hike to do with the kids. It isn’t easy but our two little ones can still manage MOSTLY on their own. There are a couple places where you may need to spot the kids if they are young like mine (5,6) due to needing three-points of contact at a drop-off. The views are great and there is plenty of room at the summit to enjoy a picnic. The dogs can manage well too. We’ve done this hike twice because we enjoyed it so much.

Beautiful hike! Steady incline to the summit but not very hard at all. Awesome views. Please pick up your dogs poop! I’ve done this trail multiple times and have always found people just leaving their dogs poop bag along the trail. There is a trash can at the bottom, it isn’t hard to do. If you find a lot of bags littered, consider picking it up and disposing of it yourself. Let’s keep the trail clean!

Went out here today, it was a lot of fun.

Snow was approx 8-12 inches deep on much of the road making it quite a challenge. Several people needed pulled out after getting stuck

Views on this road are amazing, but I did not encounter anything that would make this anywhere near “moderate” without the snow.

Excellent hike that had me peeling layers as I gained elevation. Heavy snowfall was nicely compressed by the hundred or so people who must’ve gone before me. Couple of spots were slick and required three points of contact due to ice, rocks, narrow trail, and steep canyon sides. Not too many people out. Great views along nearly the entire trail. Agree that this is on the easy side of ‘moderate.’

Great trail, so long as you’re prepared. If you find a 4+ inch fixed blade Gerber knife along the scramble, his name is Brütus; please treat him kindly, sharpen him weekly

Great hike with excellent views at the top. Somewhat icy the first third of the trail, but I hiked it in tennis shoes and was alright.

Love this trail........and do so does my dog!

The view at the top was absolutely breathtaking. The best view I’ve seen from North Cheyenne Canon.

This trail was very scenic and beautiful. Easy hike and worth the views!

Great hike. Got a pretty good workout as it’s a good bit of elevation gain. Would recommend traction devices during winter months as it is a bit icy.

Highly recommend spikes on shoes this time of year, practically a necessity. Fairly short way up for an incredible pay off

Beautiful shirt trail!

Beautiful hike, but need traction due to ice on first third of the trail. Great views! Wear spikes/traction on boots as most of the trail going up the mountain is covered in packed snow that is very icy and slippery. Easy to find, but parking fills up on nice days/weekends. Busy trail on the weekend, so if you’re looking to get away, choose something more secluded. Even with the icy conditions it is a beautiful trail, great views, and nice little workout. On the easy side of moderate in my opinion.

According to the trail signs it was actually .3 miles one way. The waterfall was iced over and trail very slick. Beautiful views tho

Very nice trail that is well groomed with a few slick spots that don’t get any sun in the winter! Very friendly passerby, with the only downside being people don’t pick up after their dogs...... At least kick it off the trail.

Very enjoyable 2.5 hour hike. Beautiful views from the top. Glad I brought my microspikes for icy parts of the trail along the north face.

Awesome views. Started snowing once we were at the top. However, you should have spikes on your shoes right now. Tons of slick ice. Fell most of the way down. But was worth it.

Sooooo dope 10/10 with beautiful sights all the way up. Hiked in December of 2018 and the first bit was pretty icy just watch where you’re going!

Great Views on this one! It was very icy/slippery especialy on the decent, so bring appropriate gear if you plan on going in the winter months.

This was a very enjoyable hike, this week it has been quite icy in many areas early on but further up it's dry, traction would've been nice but good shoes and the right foot placement is key. Near the top there is a section that our 40lb Sheppard had a hard time but made it to the top. The views are amazing

Very nice hike; a little steep in places which wouldn't be an issue without the ice. Traction devices recommended for descent! Beautiful view at the top with a cute little Christmas tree.

nice little hike. consistent uphill climb but not too difficult. trail has packed snow and ice on the north side. very nice view of Colorado Springs.

We love it. Very beautiful.

beautiful trail!

My favorite hike near the Springs! So beautiful at the top.

My favorite hike in North Cheyenne! The view at the top is absolutely stunning and worth the steep climb near the top. Did it today and it's a little icy at spots but definitely doable without yaktraxs/spikes. Highly recommend this hike :)

The rating for this trail is accurate, there are a few spots where it is a little more difficult when there is ice and snow. The views at the top are pretty awesome, you can see the city on the east side of the summit and the mountains on the west side. Parking is good, about 10-12 spots. I know it states dogs need to be leashed but when I did the trail I passed about 10 different hikers with dogs running free.

Lovely views! Came midday and only ran into a few other single hikers. The snow is mostly melted. There are snowy spots but it’s mostly packed down. I wore normal hiking boots and had no problem, didn’t need yaktrax or spikes. A little icier coming down especially at the top, but with careful feet you’ll be fine. As long as it doesn’t snow again, you could do it in tennies with good grip or trail running shoes... both groups I ran into only wore these.

Stunning view from the top, especially with the snow and Christmas lights around the city. Trail was lightly covered in snow, definitely icy in spots from being packed down. Spikes not necessary, yaktrax may have been a little helpful in the icier areas, but also not a necessity. Left the trailhead at 4:30pm, jogged (slowly) about half of the trail back down and got to the car by 5:15 just as it got dark enough for a headlamp. Short and sweet!
