Awesome trail! some incredible views. Took about four hours at a relatively quick pace stopping in a few locations along the way and taking some of the small pocket trails during the hike. Even saw a mother dear and baby deer and they just stood there eating while I videoed them.
A couple of steeper parts that will work your legs a bit but nothing too technical or complicated, unless you want to climb up on top of some of the larger formations at the top and along the way.
Make sure you bring some water and energy bar.

My girlfriend and I loved it! If you’re looking for water falls there were none this time of year (August) took is 6.9 Miles to do the whole thing

August 18, mountain bikes the trail with my 13 year old. We loved the trail, absolutely beautiful and fun. We are from Michigan so this was definitely different than what we are use too. It was a blast and I would recommend it to anyone.

Nice trail close to town with rocks and nature. Very enjoyable.

The rapid elevation increase is immediately apparent. The change in trail, foliage and scenery was enjoyable. The last 10th of a mile will kick your butt, be prepared! The view of Horsetooth Reservoir and Fort Collins is breathtaking! I would not recommend this trail to those out of shape or new to hiking.

The entire elevation gain is the 3ish miles closest to the lake, where the incline hits you like a wall! We found ourselves scrambling quite a few times up and around rock walls. The lake is underwhelming, not sure if the final climb was really worth it. The weather was beautiful though, and friendly hikers and packers that we passed along the way.

Low intensity hike. The scenery is beautiful, but there is no shade so bring lots of water and sun screen! I saw two rattle snakes while hiking. Also they’re plenty of mountain bikers, so be cautious.

wonderful trail!

Beautiful hike! The view is amazing

Beautiful but very challenging! Did this hike on Saturday. Got to the trailhead at 9am. Took the Greyrock Trail to the summit then did that to the top, backtracked and then took the Greyrock Meadow trail back down. Definitely a difficult trail—lots of vertical climbing and the rocks at the summit were tough! Plenty of loose rocks too. I was glad I wore my good boots. The views were gorgeous and despite the warnings I didn’t encounter a single rattlesnake. Completed the entire thing in 4 hours.

Fun trail. Was a little tuff at the beginning but also challenging and not to hard. Had 33’s with a 4” lift in my 2001 Jeep wrangle. Took that trail like a champ.

Fun trail. Very green this time of year.
The ascent right at the beginning is fun but the crystal mountain trail was gated off.
The closure signs looked fairly new.

I like this trail, but I logged about 6 miles instead of 4.8 like it says. Just be aware!

Absolutely fantastic. Wonderful hike with rewarding scenes and serenity from top of the tooth. Lots of people in the parking lot, nobody on top. Everyone scattering could have been due to periods of heavy rain and maaaybe some lightning. Stayed away from summit until storm cleared. Spectacular!

Love but be cautious of rattle snakes !

Great hike for kids but much better in the Spring. We didn’t do the loop, only to the base of the falls for a snack, then to the top of the falls and back down. 2.6 miles round trip. My two boys are not strong hikers. I carried my 5 year old for a bit of the hike back and my 6 year old was moving slow. We saw a lot of wild flowers and a few birds. This time of year (Aug 1) the falls are only a trickle. There is very little shade until you get to the falls so go early.

Some of you must be smoking some good stuff and not sharing, because I drove up this trail for an hour and never even considered putting it in 4wheel drive...
the point I said enough is enough was when I saw a speed limit sign.
how this is rated a 4wheel trail at all, let alone a hard trail is beyond me...
yes it's bumpy, yes there's pot holes, it was pretty, it was a nice drive. by no means was it hard, not technically challenging in the slightest.
there were some nice camping spots, but again, if I could drive a Honda accord up this, it should not be listed as a "hard" trail....

Did this trail about a week ago with a large group and absolutely loved it. Trail isn't too difficult until the very end going up the actual rock which requires a very small amount of climbing.

We did encounter a medium sized rattlesnake on the trail as well, so be on the lookout. The area is full of toads and deer as well.

The top of horsetooth was truly breathtaking. It offers a nearly 360 degree view of everything and the sunset was gorgeous. Definitely worth it for an evening hike, just bring a headlamp for the return trip. For some people there was no cell service, so if you're an out of towner like me, make sure you have a ride arranged prior to hiking, or at least someone who can hotspot you. Would love to go back for a sunrise hike!

It was beautiful, it didn’t take long to do. I wouldn’t get excited if you planned on seeing a waterfall, it’s more like the leaky hose someone mentioned before... but views are worth it.

We found this trail to be much easier than described in other reviews. I took my 7 and 9 year old boys and they had no problem getting to the top. Nice and cool still in July at 6 am. Windy at the top. We saw lots of deer. Amazing views at the top.
