Great hike if you are prepared. We however were not and turned back not long in. The part we saw was amazing - huge pine cones

Beautiful views, shirt & fairly easy

I found this hike to be a great destination hike. Down hill all the way there and pretty much up hill all the way back. So those with any issues with knees, hips, heart may need to think about this. Moderate is a true rating. Pretty smooth trail as it was an old road. Beautiful destination when you reach the lake.

Ranger said it was .75 mile trail to the beach from the day parking area, it was not, no big deal though just not really a direct route to the beach.. had some ok views the closer it meandered to the lake. Had some decent sized sequoia trees and old growth stumps from logging.

Really nice and picturesque trail leading to a sheltered cove and several small sand beach areas. It's popular with boaters as well, and we saw the Thunderbird there for an excursion. The beaches, like many around the lake, are much smaller again this year due to the high water levels, but don't let that discourage you. This is an easy down hill hike that will reward you with nice views and beaches, followed by a minor workout on the way back up (depending on how much you carry down). Dog friendly. A little bit crowded as it approached noon and later.

This was a pretty and easy trail. Nice views and the trail is visible and marked. This specific loop trail is a modified version of the posted lighthouse trail. I like this one because of the elevation. I am new to hiking and this was easy for me. I do advise to wear proper shoes because some sections are slippery ( stairs).
Tip: it’s 10 dollars for parking/entrance.

Amazingly beautiful!❤️

We hiked down the main path to the beach. The water is crystal clear and beautiful. There are rocks that we swim out to and jump off of... The water was cool but the sun was warm so we sunned ourselves like lizards

Who ever drew this trail did not follow a specific trail. We were able to find our way to the lake, which was great! But got lost in a campground site and had to walk to Fallen Leaf Rd to the main road to find our way out. Not ideal with a baby and dog.

So beautiful and relatively secluded. Big payoff for a short hike- you can hang out at the beach (or the nude beach over the rocks haha) or climb around the rocks and hang out.

beautiful trail!! for those wanting a bit of a challenge you can take the short cuts and avoid the hairpin turns going up or down, there's a slight thin "trail" that guides you through the brush

beautiful! lots of wildlife and blue water! the way back up is a little tough if you try to take shortcuts off the trail.

this was a great trail! wonderful water front

We arrived at the parking lot around 7pm and walked to the Whales Beach for sunset. The view is awesome!

Amazing views all the way down, with some valley/big lake/snow capped range views framed by massive conifers. Fun rock scrambling along the lake, with some neat jumps and balancing. Stunning sun sparkle on turquoise harbor water. The only knock was the number of people making it hard for photography and finding a meditation point. Probably our fault for going on a Memorial weekend; I would likely give 5* mid week.

Parking is a bit of a challenge. That's a great thing as everyone else will have the same issue! I'm always a bit wary of a trail that goes down from the start but this one really isn't too long or steep. Lot's of big trees to enjoy. A large meadow that you'll catch glimpses of. The harbor is fairly small, but as beautiful as all the others in Tahoe. Nice having the signs about the bit of history associated with the area.

Park is still closed for the season as of 4/23 so parking is off road. Directions to the parking lot on this app is slightly short - keep going on 28 another 0.7 mile or so and you’ll see the park entrance on your left. Very nice views from east side of the lake.

Lovely and easy trail down to the water. Crystal clear, would be nice in warmer months to take a swim. Old party house was cool. I can imagine this hike is very busy in the summer as there were lots of people hiking it in April cool weather. A boat was in the bay anchored for a lunch break too.

Great hike down to a not too busy section of Lake Tahoe. We love to bring a picnic and enjoy the day from this spot. The old party house is pretty neat, I can imagine all the Gatsby type parties that were thrown here back in the day. Getting back to the road is pretty steep so pack lightly.

This was a pretty simple and straightforward hike with a really small but awesome beach. My puppy loved every minute of this hike and was sprinting all around just checking out all the smells!

Beautiful beach at the bottom. perfect for a day trip with kids. It is dog friendly as well. The beach can get busy and parking is an issue. Arriving early or late in the day will increase your chances of getting a spot. Trail can be a bit exposed so bring sunblock and H20.

Visiting from the Adirondack Mountain area of upstate New York. The grandeur of the Sierra's surrounding the emerald Lake Tahoe is a sort of beauty I have not experienced before.

Really enjoyed this hike. A good blend of woods and cozy, quiet beaches. The first time we went, no one else was there. The 2nd time, we saw a handful of people. Love the whales at Whale Beach! Note: the stairs getting down to the trail might be a little tricky for some.
