Fun and easy trail. Great views and access to the beach.

This was fantastic for a shorter trail. The super dense woods were beautiful and peaceful.
There are fire rings at the camp sites for anyone who dares to backpack in firewood.
There's a group of five sites near each other in one of the camping areas, but only a couple have good access to the lake for water.
The one site that is by itself (3/4 mile from the others) has access to water and it's own biffy (there's one for the five sites to share).
Piknic tables at every site as well.
Went on a Thursday night and didn't run into anyone backpacking or camping.
Bugs minded their own business.
The bull frogs were VERY loud at night which made for a difficult night of sleep.
I would definitely hike this trail again with ear plugs for sleeping.

Beautiful hike. I would suggest getting there by 10 am to beat the crowds. This time of year it was dried up quite a bit so the waterfàlls don't look as powerful. Next time I will go at the very beginning of Sumner.

This is a beautiful trail that covers the Oregon gamut (minus redwood trees). There’s a beautiful moss covered forest, streams, beaver dams, a lighthouse, hobbit holes and a misty expanse of beach with driftwood and interesting features. We added the lighthouse hike to the loop and it changed it from a walk (sometimes people in flip flops carrying beach chairs) to a hike (vertical gain through starkly dry and rain forest areas). The negative here was the road noise from the 101, which runs through the middle of the hike.

Love this gorgeous place. We hiked to the beach with the pup. Broad expanses, sand formations, shadows from the drifting fog. Followed the trail markers on the way out, on the way back took the high dunes. Peaceful adventuring in an amazing location. Will be back.

We hiked the dune trail to Three Mike Lake, taking the longer loop at the beginning. Because of the Sandy Plover we didn’t walk on the beach portion with the pup. Hike ended up being about 7.8 miles. There was thick sand throughout the portion from the main trail to the lake. Went off trail towards the end and through some dune valleys and peaks before scrambling up a dune to reach the rim overlooking the lake. Could hear the ocean, very peaceful, there was no one else out there.

Nice hike up a gravel path/road to the light house. Beautiful lighthouse and views.

The map displayed in the homestead trailhead suggests that after reaching Sweet Creek Falls one can go east and get to Beaver Creek falls. The trick is that in order to get there, one should cross the creek in Sweet Falls area and take the trail uphill. Of course, one can simply drive south and hike to Beaver Falls from the bridge.

Fun hike with 4 teenagers taking the lead. Trail starts near visitor center. Parking permit was required and could be purchased for $5 for the day. Super cool tree at the end of the trail. Reminded us of what the tree might have been like in the book "My Side of the Mountain."

This is one of our favorite trails. We have visited Sweet Creek in every season and it is beautiful every time. Fun to see the water a bit lower so we could explore on the rocks. Parking is limited so arrive before 10:30 am on the weekend.

As beautiful as dunes can be, however 3 stars because: 1) some benches are too tall: probably, the soil settled with time; 2) the dunes block the view of the ocean; 3) "Warning! Mountain lion is active in this area" as posted in the kiosk by the bridge leading from the loop north-east to Alder dunes. "Is active", not merely "sighted."

Lovely walk along the beach.. trails diverge South end at the road and you can walk to the light house.

I added on the lighthouse trail to make it 6.6 miles. From forest to beach to vistas to the lighthouse this is worth a stop. Most don’t do the China Creek Loop and it was beautiful.

My friend and I hiked this trail today after a long day hiking Kentucky Falls and then on to the Florence for some RR! I must say that it has been years since we had visited this marvelous little wonder!! It’s funny the beauty you can miss with kids, dogs and too many people. Soooo glad we stopped on our way out!! What a great way to end our day!! It is definitely a “Must Go!!” Next time we will go out to picnic!!

Great path, easy to navigate. The campsites by the lake are pretty, we just stopped for lunch. The trail felt safe, we saw a few other hikers with their dogs but it’s not crowded. I have a big dog and he did fine, it’s nice and cool in the woods and he dipped his paws in the lake when we got down there. You do have to pay $5 at the self serve station across the street from the trailhead.

Very nice walk. Dogs loved it too!

I didn't have a lot of time for a hike so I just walked from hwy 101 down to the beach and back. It was an awesome little stroll through the dark forest to the Beach. Would definitely recommend this trail.

Really Beautiful Hike. Wasn't too hard at all!

Well maintained and great for kids. My 5 and 8 year old nephews loved it and all the waterfalls!

Short steep hike through the forest with amazing views along the way and on top! Hehe, feels so much more rewarding walking up when you see the folks that came by car

Great trail clearly marked. So peaceful

We were confused when we got to the trailhead because there was separate parking for Homestead and Sweet Creek Falls. We parked at the Sweet Creek Falls lot, which is not the complete trail that is described. It worked out great, though, because today was very busy, and when we got to the falls, there was only another small group there. We back-tracked on the trail towards the Homestead lot (three times as many people there than when we arrived 45 minutes before!) and then made our way back. Lots of small, beautiful waterfalls along the way.

Lots of sand. Best in morning.

Nice short trail lots of stairs we left from the visitors center and there was a tunnel under the highway almost all blackout very beautiful.

It was a nice hike/walk. Lots of people on a Saturday.

Awesome trail!
