Good hike that is not too challenging but love seeing the old juniper trees

Love this trail! It’s a fun and scenic trail with lots of beautiful trees and cool boulders. Saw several lizards, too.

If you plan to go to see the Aspen trees mid fall - leave by 5 am and be done before 11. The drive up can get very scary since it's one narrow road for all incoming and outgoing traffic. Parking is available and there are dimly lit restroom. Regardless, this is an absolutely breathing experience that I wouldn't trade.

This was an awesome unexpected hike. We stopped by because it was close and we needed to kill some time, but it ended up being a highlight!!! The kids loved the Indian ruins and they really are super cool!!!! But, wow...A LOT of stairs! My kids (11, 8, 5) did this but it was tiring! Plus, there are some areas that do not have railings. As a mom I was stressed in parts, but I would do it again. But I wouldn’t recommend for younger kids unless they are being carried.

An unexpected and really cool stop on our way from Bryce to Grand Canyon. We aren't usually big on human history, but this monument was well worth our time.

Well maintained trail with beautiful scenery. Definitely a good trail worth my trip.

Nice easy trail. Good canyon lookout points from the very beginning of the trail! Flat, paved; again easy but enjoyable. Nice cool down after coming back up from the Island Trail.

Nice informative hike! Plenty to see! Trail is paved. The climb back up is a bit of a chore but not bad at all. Fun!

I’d say it’s more of an easy hike and trail to follow. Definitely cool to see the difference in colors from the lava and vegetation growing on one side compared to the other. Only took us maybe an hour and we were taking our time, talking to others, and taking pictures. Some people, but not near as busy as Walnut Canyon.

Fairly easy hike, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was a little winded going up the stairs on our return back though. We went around noon and there were a good many people there. Definitely neat little hike and great view.

This is a very easy walking path through a lava flow field. The historical account of volcanic eruption and the residual scenery are quite dramatic. There are beautiful views of Mt Humphrey in the distance. The volcanic history is much more interesting than the hiking opportunity, which is minimal. It is still well worth a visit, but more as an educational experience than as a hiking experience.

Absolutely beautiful hike. I've hiked this way twice - once in the summer (end of May) & once in the fall (while the leaves were still yellow). Lockett meadow is absolutely gorgeous in the fall. Inner Basin is a cool little area which is perfect to relax & snack here. If you take the way up to Humphreys - make sure you take a nice long rest here. That hike is probably the hardest I've done up & back. I would recommend going to Weatherford trail and then stopping there or going up Humphreys the easier 6mile route!

Great hike! Pretty rocky so definitely a moderate level. Get some great views of Flagstaff throughout the hike. Good mix of incline and decline throughout.

It was beautiful and not too strenuous of a hike the only thing that made it rough was the altitude since we’re not used to it. We went early March and the trail was pretty muddy with snow scattered around but the temperature was great since it was cool but the sun was shining. There weren’t any wildflowers but the views were still nice mixed in with the snow.

An easy hike! It was a great follow up to Montezuma’s castle as now we got to see inside the dwellings. Lots of stairs, but short and easy!

Did this hike in January with quite a bit of ice and snow on the trail. Good workout with the modest elevation gain. Good option if you are on a tight schedule.

Went out in snow today, had a great hike. Walked to it and got on wrong trail, so had to cross country back to it. At the top of the loop the wind and snow picked up, so came back down instead of continuing. Could not see Flagstaff, could imagine was all alone in the wilderness was a blast.

it was tough not being use to the altitude. but had some nice rocks to sit and check out the views

An easy but very satisfying walk. I don't know who the Fat Man was, but he had great taste in trails!

This trail was fun, we got lost though on the trail and ended up just turning around to get back to the trailhead. Definitely enjoyed still!

Awsome! Hiked when the aspen trees were still yellow

A predictable and enjoyable hike. Met some nice folks along the way. Will repeat.

Moderate rating justified. For beginners the distance might make this a bit too much. Loved the views of boulders and caves.

Walnut Canyon is a great little stop if you are in the area. Canyon and cliff dwellings were neat to see! This hike is more towards easy if you are in shape. recommend for all levels to do though.
