Flagstaff Hikes Map

The trail is covered in snow now which is beautiful, however most people don’t go further than 1.5 into the trail as if gets more difficult to see the trail. Also, the road to the trail is closed so that is s commitment of 3 in plus 3 miles out so be prepared to hike 8+ miles if you are doing this hike

The road was closed for the season (today is 10/20) so we had to hike in 3 miles to Lockett Meadows. The aspens were beautiful and the trail was pretty rocky at first.

Perfect trail, it’s a bit longer than expected but beautiful. The views are badass and even after a good snow it was chilly but yet no way unbearable. The snow was melting so the trail was a bit muddy so be careful where you step. Some trekking poles wouldn’t hurt. You couldn’t see the top of MT. Elden due to the fog but still super pretty. Me and my girlfriend did it in 1:12 and it was 3.06 miles. We took a ton of breaks because she doesn’t hike all that often. But she made it through fine. It is a little hard to find though.

The ranger station next door is not where you wanna go. It’s a parking lot at the trailhead is where you want to go and park. At the ranger station it will have a sign for fat man. There won’t be one at the parking lot.... ya I know stupid right? Make sure to layer up it was a little chilly.

Most beautiful hike I have ever done! going from fall to winter was breathtaking. Highly recommend. Part of the hike was a steady incline but very worth it.

Absolutely gorgeous this time of year. The Aspen trees are so colorful and make for an amazing hike. Also, make sure to go the entire hike or you will be extremely disappointed. Once you make it up the large hill and round a corner and start to see the snowy capped mountain it opens up onto a beautiful colorful meadow — KEEP GOING! This isn’t the end. Follow it into the snowy mountains you will eventually see the trail continue and hike into the snowy beautiful mountain trail (if it’s still there) what a beautiful treat!! We lived this trail. With the colorful Aspen trees and fresh snow— seems we picked the perfect day!

Went there just for the trees in October. They were nice. Maybe a couple weeks late as the leaves on the floor were getting gross. I just kept hiking up though... and eventually got rewarded with an amazing view of 3 snow capped peaks!!! I was not expecting that. I went almost to the end of Inner Basin but eventually the snow on my puppy concerned me to the point of turning around.

Far- far- far too many people though.

The most amazing hike I have ever done! The colors were breathtaking and it was perfect temperature. Got to the end of the aspen trees and decided to keep going, and glad I did! Maybe 1-1.5 miles, I’m not sure, but you get to this meadow area and see the snow covered mountains, just spectacular! We did however get hailed & rained on at the very end of our hike as the weather called for it, but so worth it!

Gorgeous! According to the Apple Watch a little over 6 miles round trip but totally worth it. Also the directions through all trails app are wrong- look for forest road 552 which is about a mile
Before where the app says 522 is (this road doesn’t exist). A few bumpy and steep miles in the car, but I have a small Mazda and had no issues. Just take your time. One of the prettiest hikes I’ve done in AZ

Wonderful trail the aspen grove is amazing. Only thing is the drive up is a little harrowing. Well worth a few gray hairs getting there.

The road up to the trailhead/camp grounds is a bit bumpy and steep, but in my opinion, I've been on worse (fossil creek). You could get there in a car IN GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS. The trailhead itself was AMAZING! Everywhere you look you'll get an amazing view especially during the fall season.

Bumpy road up to the trailhead. Beautiful spot. Took us about 3 hours with a 5 year old and multiple stops. Fairly easy walk. Majority of aspens had turned and there was snow on the ground. Beautiful. We went on 10/9.

Went 10/6 and the aspens were still greenish yellow. On 10/7 they got snow in Lockett Meadow so who knows what will happen with the leaves.

A beautiful setting filled with rich history, fantastic views, and a good burn on the way up all the stairs. It's a short hike, but well worth it, especially if you go up and down the stairs twice.

Nice leisurely hike and the trail is well maintained.

Loved the trail. Hiked with a group of kids and they all did well! Paved and not very natural but it’s cool for what it is. Hiked it back in July

My go-to easy hike. I always start @ 6:30am to avoid the crowds. I make it a better workout by doing a double Loop. Clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Each loop takes 40-45 min.

fun but super crowded

Awesome trail with some great views! go easy on the dirt road to lockett meadow, watch for other cars and you will be fine. lots of switchbacks and high altitude, bring a good amount of water!

Enjoyed it, but with young kids, multiple trail offshoots and poor trail signage, we got off track a couple of times. The views are beautiful. Deducted a star for really vague signage.

9/7/18, A.M.
After Wednesday’s fiasco at Doe Mtn., wanted to try this one out. Great trail for me in that it’s paved and many incline areas have handrails, not to mention the path is not narrow!

Great points of interest with info and great views along the way.

Have water handy, needed more so on way back up (those stairs are a cardio/heart rate killer! lol).

The history and views are awesome. The fact that you get to actually be inside the Sinaguas’ dwellings is amazing!
A must do hike!
