Hiked on 12/5/18 - It's pretty easy, only a 620' elevation gain (Source: Flagstaff Trails Map) from the parking lot to the top of the loop (where the Mt.Elden trail T's off) so I hike the Loop clockwise, then counterclockwise.
I've now hiked the Double Loop 68 times, Humphreys Peak 4 times, Mt Elden 85 times, O'Leary Peak 51 times, Bill Williams Mt 5 times, Kendrick Peak 7 times, Lockett Meadows-Inner Basin trail hikes 5 times, Sandy Seep to Heart Trail to Mt Elden and back 2 times. Also a bunch of Caves Crater hikes.
I never really hiked much before I moved to Flagstaff (August of 2013) I spend @4 months out of every year in the Altered

A very nice short 1-1.5 hour hikes. Trails can be confusing so pay attention to where it is most trafficked. Rocks are steep and I recommend at the intersection going right instead of left. That will save you. Rocks are slippery.

Great trail and a lot of potential to go even longer with other connecting trails. So it could be a short hike to a few hour one depending on what you want to do.

Great trail. Some fun spots with rocks to climb as well.

Well maintained, well marked trail that's perfect for a quick hike after work or before breakfast on the weekends. There are a lot of cool trees and rocks along the trail so it'd be a fun hike for families.

Great trail.. took our time and enjoyed the views. Had a few nice climbs too! Took the trail right to left and it was easier than the other way.

Perfect trail, it’s a bit longer than expected but beautiful. The views are badass and even after a good snow it was chilly but yet no way unbearable. The snow was melting so the trail was a bit muddy so be careful where you step. Some trekking poles wouldn’t hurt. You couldn’t see the top of MT. Elden due to the fog but still super pretty. Me and my girlfriend did it in 1:12 and it was 3.06 miles. We took a ton of breaks because she doesn’t hike all that often. But she made it through fine. It is a little hard to find though.

The ranger station next door is not where you wanna go. It’s a parking lot at the trailhead is where you want to go and park. At the ranger station it will have a sign for fat man. There won’t be one at the parking lot.... ya I know stupid right? Make sure to layer up it was a little chilly.

My go-to easy hike. I always start @ 6:30am to avoid the crowds. I make it a better workout by doing a double Loop. Clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Each loop takes 40-45 min.

Enjoyed it, but with young kids, multiple trail offshoots and poor trail signage, we got off track a couple of times. The views are beautiful. Deducted a star for really vague signage.

Pretty easy hike honestly. I had no trouble on it and I haven't hiked in almost six months. There are some parts where you might have to scrabble with your hands, but they're still not that bad. There are some beautiful views on the trail that would make for great photo ops, but I didn't have my camera with me.
The only problem that I had with it was that it was kinda busy for my taste, but that's just one of my weird things, not a problem with the trail itself.

We were in town visiting and wanted to do something close to town. This turned out to be a great little hike. Took us about 1.75 hours with our dog. Busy trail with lots of friendly hikers.

Nice hike. Stay on the path most traveled rather than deceptive offshoot trails or you'll add unexpected distance like we and a few fellow hikers did. Would have been fine except more mileage than my 10 yr old had signed up for and we heard about it. Enjoyed the workout and the views.

Beautiful but not so easy loop. In lieu of distinct switchbacks, it seems the trail goes mostly straight up towards the top. Great bouldering and views along this loop.

Good hike. Great for kids over 5.

We always do this hike when in Flag, nice one hour circle with lovely views and plenty of wildlife. It was a very quiet morning hike on a week day so no trouble parking

Good family hike. Trail was open when we arrived.

A little less fat now. Big rocks, little lizards, great times.

Nice hike to get the blood flowing and give a decent workout! Lots of pretty trees and good views.

Excellent incline! Many great photo ops - great beginner hike! Take about an hour a moderate pace!
