Great short and easy loop trail. It has a brand new kayak launch but you have to walk in about a half mile to get to it. Make sure it’s high tide before you trek down.

Great trail for the family especially for younger kids. Easy trails and theyre not to long. If your looking for something a little more serious your not missing much if you pass on this trail. It's more suited for picnics and family time.

I’ve kayaked the Lower Cape Fear river from Fayetteville to Wilmington in 4.5 days on one trip and the upper from the dam to Lillington. The upper half has a good current for flat water but the lower is mostly class A’s. I enjoyed this river because it was chill but had to portage to often in challenging spots with lots of gear. Would still paddle it again.

Great places to explore the old dunes of the island.

This is a great local scenic trail that I have done many times with my four Shih Tzu companions on land as well as in my kayak along the lake's perimeter. Lots of wildlife including birds, turtles and alligators. It also has lots of geocaches for those into geocaching. There is even a neat Wherigo geocache "GC65EFK" which provides you a nice tour that follows this path.

Short and mostly flat. Wear good shoes as there are lots of surface roots. After a rain the trail is muddy in spots. About halfway through there is a platform overlooking the sound. There wasn’t.a lot of wildlife out at the time except for an abundance of frogs along the trail.

I've enjoyed this beach walk many times with my four Shih Tzu companions in recent years. The southern half is the best part because no cars/trucks are allowed except for a rare ranger vehicle. Very peaceful and usually takes me about five to six hours to walk the 18.2 mile round trip starting at the gazebo on the north end to the turnaround point at Cape Fear Point. It is well worth the effort. And for those who are in to geocaching, please check out the Wherigo geocache "GC63J2J".

Although we only walked 1 mile into the trail, I loved what I saw so far. I can’t wait to come back with my bike to see the whole trail.

Enjoyable loop trail through a maritime forest to a salt marsh with a view of the sound beyond it where several shorebirds feed. There is an elevated deck overlooking the marsh and sound that would be a good place to set up a spotting scope. Poison Ivy is abundant along the trail but the trail is wide and it isn’t much of a problem. I’ve never seen so many Fowler’s Toads in one place. They were hopping off the trail every twenty or thirty feet. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead.

Easy hike...went at 430 pm on a Wednesday and there wasn't anyone else around

Pretty area, good for a loop or two for running. Do NOT let your dogs loose or go near the water. I know at least one dog who got pulled in by a gator and never resurfaced. :/

going there to night to camp out and go fishing

Great little park. Very nice trails. They have horse and bike trails that go all the way up to the Neuse River, plan to try these next time. They also have live (rescued) birds of prey and reptile and amphibian exhibits.

it a good place I went there to find all the camp sites but only found 2 the one that had of the map thing on the trials was not there but it's very nice going camping and fishing there soon

Long paved loop. Great for bike rides. Beautiful scenery. Playground for little ones and paddle boats available for rent but not the best part of town.

good park for a quick hike. Partially closed due to high water table on March 28. Always see people fishing. great for seeing wild life from snakes to osprey.

The Lake Trail at Cliffs of the Neuse is a very smooth trail meandering through the woods and by the lake and boathouse. Very pretty, however the trail is not at all marked well. There are no trail markers nor is it on any of the permanent maps at the park.

Fully paved walk way, 4.3 miles, leave your hiking boots in the car.

Good, short trail. Had some really nice views of marsh and wading birds half way through the loop. Tons of fowler's toads and other little critters along the trail too. If you venture out in the late afternoon/evening, be prepared to be bitten.

Enjoyed it!

Easy. Nice views

Had a great time on the trail all to myself and my dogs on Christmas morning!

I used to walk this loop as a child so I love the views look for the alligators they are there! I’m especially tied to this loop I got married at the fragrance garden! Be mindful though it isn’t the best area walk with caution and with a friend

Beautiful trail with plenty of parking (multiple lots around lake). Watch for broken pavement here and there (usually from tree roots). Be aware of your surroundings and, due to safety reasons, I wouldn’t recommend running here at night. Gorgeous scenery though! I love running here.

Great for a solid distance run and good scenery on the loop. I will say that urban aspect of the park with suspect individuals lingering at certain spots and the odors that also come with urban areas versus other running spots in Wilmington area put this down on my list personally. Still a great run that I take on a couple times a week. About 4.5 miles on my route and does the trick for a midweek run.

we kayak the cape fear alot !! so much fun!!

Great escape from town in town. Bring bug spray.

We got there and no one was around to help. turns out you have to call ahead if you want to ride horses there. And it's $10 per horse. So if you want a spur of the moment ride, this isn't the place.
