Awesome views!!! Really bummed about the communication tower. However, it did sound like a passing helicopter, HA! It was a very nice hike, other than that. The stream is just beautiful. It was very wet today, maybe it’s not always like that, but we didn’t mind at all. We just changed socks at the top and we were all just fine. Trail was easy to follow and will be back in the summer.

Hiked on November 3rd. Absolutely beautiful trail. A couple tricky mini scrambles, that would've been less tricky if they we're as wet and slippery. Views are amazing, as expected. A bit of snow closer to the top.

An exceptionally beautiful area and stunning views. The tower and summit were frozen and with ice along the upper parts of the trail on the rock scrambles, microspikes are a necessity. A great hike all around.

A great hike that would’ve been a lot easier had it not been for the frequent mud jumping. The views from the tower were stunning and I even saw a guy hiking in sandals

Great hike on a gorgeous day after leaves have almost entirely fallen. We went up on the new trail & down on the old one. Surprised that the snow increased from a dusting at the trailhead to as much as 3" midway up, but it was sunny & calm. Made for great photos at the snow-frosted summit overlooking the brown trees & blue lakes in the surrounding plains. The fire tower had 2" wind-blown frost crystals on the edges, but was not slippery. Does anyone have a reference for the old ski trails?

Snowy, muddy and slippery today but still a great hike. Gradual climb with lots of bridges and stairs.

As other reviews state quite rocky and steep right from the get go. Ankle support and good tread this time of year is necessary. If you’ve hiked before it should be no problem. My husband had a hip replacement a yr ago and we made it up in an hour and 15.

Hiked on 10/24. Great hike, it was raining and then snowing so absolutely no view but great nonetheless. Took us 5 hours. Spikes needed near and on the summit.

We did this hike in possibly the worst weather conditions. Pouring rain so bad the trail became a stream. At the top it was mixed rain and sleet. On a nice day I would rate this trail moderately easy, under the conditions I did it in , it was all but easy.
I would do this again when conditions are favorable.

Did this one today, later in the afternoon, so I finished in the dark. I like a hike that lets you warm up your legs before you hit the steep pitches. This hike is ideal for that. Today, even at lower elevations, there is snow and ice, so micro-spikes are essential, especially going up that final pitch to the summit. The views are totally worth it, although the lower set of stairs have been removed, so access to the tower is nil. Again a great hike, but micro-spikes are a must.

Did goodnow today. Very nice hike. Fire tower was in good shape. Nice view :)

Great hike and great view but giving 4 stars because I don't think it was all that dog friendly towards the end. My dog and I hike a fair amount and run trails all summer too, so we are not inexperience.

It was much too cold to cross Lake Jimmy on the submerged planks so we took the nice little side trail around it. The first 40min or so were quite easy although a bit muddy. Snow appeared after that and then about 50min into the hike it got hard. Maybe the last half mile or so was scrambling up fairly steep rocks and my dog had a hard time figuring out where to go. We did make it up and I'd say it was worth it, but I'm not sure if I would do it again. Great hike! A lot of rock...I mean a lot. Would try to have a good pair of hiking boots, ankle support recommended, but it's up to you. Wind and cooler temps at the top, so I always bring an extra layer, (when hiking in the Fall, and early Spring). Don't let the elevation fool you. Good photo opportunities at the top. Good photo opportunities on the way up as well. Be safe and have a good hike! Don't forget to let someone know where you are!

Beautiful 360 view at the top. Extremely windy but so worth it. It took me around 4 hours to complete.

Great views of Lake George but the fact the fire tower has been transformed into a communication tower and the wind turbine sounds like a helicopter landing spoils the experience.

Actually icy spots on the trail today. Time to start getting the winter gear in the pack. Very enjoyable hike. Some steeps but not too long. Great views from the tower. The communication towers nearby detract from the natural beauty although it is nice to have a signal.

This is a moderate trail. Well maintained. It is quite windy on the summit. That's why it is named as Hurricane Mountain.

A good 3-hour hike that leaves time to enjoy the day. Some pretty steep spots and good footwear is a must because there is a lot bare rock and wet leaves. The wind can really howl at the top too. Rewarding view - and a climb up the fire tower is an unexpected (and a little nerve-wracking) delight. Plan roughly 1:45 up, 20-30 minutes at the top, and 45 minutes down. Expect to see plenty of others enjoying the trail.

Hiked Hadley 10/19/18, great conditions, sunny day, slightly muddy so with the mud and leaves I suggest boots or shoes with good traction. Views were great, peak leaf season, a little past peak at the top. Good mix of pines and deciduous. Nice little hike that gets your blood pumping for sure. I’m in okay shape and it took me a little over an hour to reach the top. Fire tower was open. Views are spectacular. Enjoy!

Hiked on Oct 15th, 2018. It was raining but the trail wasn't too muddy or slippery. Some rocky sections. We went up the East Trail and down the North Trail. The Fire Tower is open but due to the clouds we didn't have a view. The ranger cabin is in bad shape. Overall a very nice hike which we will revisit so we can see the wonderful views.

Great hike, good family hike.

Great view from the fire tower!

An easy hike I’ve been doing since I was little with my family. Beautiful views and the tower is pretty cool!

Beautiful hike with great views!! Heavily trafficked, but still worth doing!

old trail a 5 maybe new one a 3 light snow on top

Way way too busy. Can’t enjoy the hike or the summit. Another victim of its own success. Parking lots and sides of road over run with cars. Inconsiderate people plying music and partying in summit. Not fun at all.

Hiked on 10/14/18. Beautiful hike to see 360 degree views of fabulous fall foliage, Lake Champlain, the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. The trail is a bit muddy in spots, but not bad. Watch out for the ice and water on the some of the rocks just before heading to the summit. The top of the fire tower can be windy and cold, so make sure to bring a hat and gloves. It took us about 2 hours each way with a nice break at the top for lunch in a sheltered spot away from the wind.

Breathtaking views at the summit and several points on the way up as well. The trail is clearly marked and well traveled. Steady uphill climb with some rocky parts to keep it interesting. I went to see the fall foliage and was not disappointed in the slightest!

Great hike, excellent views the whole way

First hike for wife and I. Great views. Was a little slippery because it rained a little throughout the trip. Good boots, good stick helped a lot. Was about 45 degrees but very comfortable until the top. Got some great photos. We left at 10am and we’re first ones up for the day but saw about 20 people while at top and on the way down.
