Easy trail to follow along. Make sure head down(left) when you get to the fork. I personally found it on the easier die but the sun is draining on a hot summer day. Not many people on the trail when I went but the heat help keep people home. Snuck up on a deer grazing on some plants on the trail. Not a lot of water in September so don't expect much when you get to the falls.

Nice moderate loop trail for early morning or late afternoon. Otherwise it would be very hot (not a lot of shade during the first, uphill, part of the hike if you go clockwise). Beautiful views on the way up. Lovely cool forest on the way down. Busy but not jammed on a Saturday afternoon. Parking is $10 (pay at the machine in the parking lot).

I recommend doing it counter clockwise. East side of the trail inclines slower and has a lot of shade in the morning, but also a lot of rocks. West side is nice smooth dirt trail but more exposed to the sun. So it makes sense to go up slower in the shady but rocky trial and coming down quicker on the smooth but expose part. Overall a beautiful trail with some shade.

Great hike. Many interesting things to see.

Very nice moderate trail, very shady except for the uphill part. One of my favorites for sure.

Well rounded hike - fantastic trail run! Shaded the first part.

So close to Santa Monica and lovely hike.

Just a trickle of water at the falls but otherwise the views are spectacular of the surrounding mountains. Saw a variety of different birds, plants and trees. It was hot but most of the hike is shaded thankfully.

Walking around a neighborhood counts as a trail now?

Great for a quick lunch time hike. Only as challenging as you wish to make it if you combine the trail with stairs or decide to work out to top where you will find pull up bars and exercise areas.

I love this trail, but the amount of people hanging out here just waiting to spot a celebrity is insane. The foot traffic is nearly as terrible as LA traffic. The upside? So many doggos running free just waiting to be petted! It’s definitely a good hike if you wanna get a good sweat going though.

lots of shade in lush valley, and also good views on ridgetop

Do not go anytime after September! The only thing you’ll see is a trickle of water that is supposed to be a waterfall. The water is green, dirty, and gross. This hike was more about the journey than the destination at least that’s what we had to say to ourselves in order to convince ourselves that the hike wasn’t a total waste.

I ran into Joe Rogan strangling a bear with his bear-hands and when I saw this the Bear noticed me and that made Joe turn to me and the bear Ran off. Joe then nonchalantly turns to me and says, "Sup Dude." then just jogs off into the wilderness. I still can't believe what I saw but this was a great and challenging trail.

great trail views are worth the medium effort

Super easy hike. I usually jog there from my apt since I live nearby. The caves are really to look at. Plus, it is the original BATCAVE

This trail was amazing. I luckily got parking right at the bottom of the hill. They don’t allow parking on a Tuesday from 12pm-??? Because of street sweeping, luckily I was able to get there before 12 and snag a spot.

The trail I hiked it was paved for the most part which was cool and easy to walk. It did have great inclines but I guess because I’m used to hiking steeper inclines it was easy. The views are panoramic from any area and it’s absolutely spectacular.

This trail will definitely make you want to get fit... there are so many beautiful bodies (LOL) guys and girls. Bodies where you see, and you’re just like “damn... I want to be that”.

The trail has no bathrooms so go either in your car in a bottle or definitely make a pit stop somewhere else before you head up there.

I will definitely be back! I can’t wait to try out the other trails this place has to offer!

There are a few ways to do this trail, but we opted to do the loop CLOCKWISE, extend down the fire road a few miles, then returned for the remainder of the loop.

For an easier hike, follow the main trail out and back. It is beautiful, green, and well traveled.

You should be an experienced hiker to complete the full loop as the first portion (Rabbit Hole) is VERY steep and somewhat slippery for about 1.5 miles to Parker Mesa Overlook. Wear HIKING footwear and bring lots of water. To find this option, you have to access the trail by dipping into and crossing he wash as you enter the gates. Follow the trail straight into the woods for about 50 yards or so. When you see the “trail closed” sign straight ahead, look up and to the left...WAAY up to what looks like a dirt mess...that’s the trail

Beware of squirrels.

Best place in the city

Good trail with awesome views on a clear day. Great for sunset.

This is something I recommend to everyone visiting the city. It provides a different view of the city and was a great way to repurpose the old railroad.

Great for bike riding and has great views overlooking the city and the statue of liberty.

Took a beginner hiker and her dog and we had a blast! The hike provides great views with a couple stream crossing and at the end is a great little waterfall and pond to cool off in! Wasn’t too crowded either. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun afternoon hike!

Fairly easy hike. You have the option of stairs or straight trail which is nice. Restrooms and nature center at top r kinda nice.

Great afternoon hike!

Despite there no longer being a waterfall, the area where it once was is still very pretty. The dried riverbed was at times better to hike along since the trail is not maintained and currently has a lot of poison oak. Also there were lots of signs to watch out for rattlesnakes, though we didn’t see any along the way. Overall no regrets about going just to see those rocks at the end but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go again when there’s so many different trails to choose from in this area.

mountain biking

Its a brutal climb to the top with a mountain bike. But well worth it for the view and long descent. The down hill portion is fun, and a little chunky in some parts. But nothing too difficult. Not recommended for beginners though.

Easy access with reasonable amount of shade along the way. Big part of the trail is paved.

i did this tail about a year ago. the first half of the loop was fun but after the decent, well, i didn't expect to be knee deep in creek. i had a friend with me who very much did not like the second half of this trail.
