Fairly easy trail with some great views of Golden, Coors plant, and Denver. Lots of interesting rock outcroppings and formations. Also lots of great places to take pictures.

When we went (11-15-2018) there was a fair amount of snow and ice on the trail. The trail is obvious and we had no problem navigating the ice and snow with just our hiking boots.

If you're looking for something to hike in winter without dealing with unknown conditions in RMNP, this is a good alternative.

The definitive Boulder workout. One of the first to try if you are only here for a short while!

Great trail and beautiful views.

Great trail. Awesome views.

Of all the gulches on the front range this one is only a medium amount of gulchy

Amazing fog this am with snow flakes. Trails dry with friendly people and amazing views. Happy Thursday m8y's Oiiiii

I love this trail! I just wish people would realize that the “Dogs Must Be On Leash” signs do, in fact, apply to them and their dogs. Today I watched someone leash their dog to start because the maintenance person was in the parking lot, and then as soon as they got out of sight they unleashed the dog. If you know what you’re doing is wrong, why are you still doing it?

Beautiful but busy, go early

This is a nice, close-to-Denver hike. I’ve done it a half dozen times at different times of year and it’s definitely best when it’s not scorching hot. There are some beautiful views (even a glimpse of Mt. Evans) , a bit of rock scrambling, a section of forest cover, and I’ve never seen it crowded.

Lots of steps up (45 min) but worth the reward. Easy hike down.

Great views of Boulder. Decently trafficked by people and easy to find the trail. Around the peak it does get pretty rocky so good shoes and sure footing is highly recommended. Haven’t hiked in awhile and did the loop in a 1 1/2 hours with a longer break at the top.

East trailhead Castle Trail up long switchbacks to Walker Ruins & Summer White Hse (great views west!) return Down Turkey Trot Trail north facing sections icey slush. 8am start, not too crowded mid week.Windy, layer up, gloves & ears. CMCDan,Nov 2 ,2018.

Gorgeous trail. Strongly disagree with the "hard" rating-- it's difficult for a relatively short period of time, so I think it's more in the moderate category. It was actually rated moderate on alltrails until about a month or two ago.. not sure why it was changed.

This trail is short, energizing and has better views than some of the even harder trails in Boulder.

When I first moved to Colorado 4 years ago, I rode from Westminster to Golden in the first week. I remember entering this trail and cruising toward the mountain on it, in and out of the trees, and just being in awe of this state's natural beauty, even in the city areas.

It was a fun loop. Nothing extremely notable though. Like other reviews have said, I think it was worth doing this once, yet I'm not rushing to want to go back.

If you are going to do this hike as a loop , I would recommend going up Mount Sanitas and returning Sanitas Valley .

Great hike.

Great local hike. Lots of doggos on the trail enjoying the best of life.

Hiked 10/29/2018 Castle Trail up to the Presidents Summer House. Beautiful views. Not too busy. Perfect weather and views. Easy to moderate. Great trail while acclimating to the altitude.

Really awesome trail that has a waterfall and many connecting trails BUT, as simple and short as it is you can get lost pretty easy so be careful. Saw one snake but not too crazy of wildlife beyond that. CLImBerS will love this place as it has many tie off points for ropes or you can free climb and boulder a bit. Descent amount of people but everyone was pretty chill and it was a good vibe all around

Trail was great for a nice afternoon stroll. Just enough to get the blood pumping. Not much of a waterfall right now; but hoping to do it in the spring again.

Good hike that’s not too hard or too easy. Not much shade on a warm day. I don’t think I’ll do it again but I enjoyed it once!

Steep uphill climb for the first half if you're coming form Morrison, but lots of switchbacks makes it easy. Once you're at the top, you'll get an awesome view of Denver and Red Rocks. We also saw tons of wildlife. Lots of options for castle and trail exploring, too. Really good place to take someone new to hiking or visiting the area because you can stay up there for hours or come down if they're not feelin' it. Get ice cream in Morrison after!

Nice little hike. I would call this easy rather than moderate. A couple of sections to get your lungs working, but easy otherwise. Lots of people and pets around 11:00, but until then, we virtually had the place to ourselves, even on a Saturday. Not too far from town, so definitely one I'd do again!

Fun trail for a quick hike. Clean and not too tough.

Hiked it today with our dog starting from the Applewood side. Street parking only so we parked a couple blocks down from the east trailhead. Good rocky incline that's not too difficult then everything flattens out on top of the mesa. Wide open trail up top, nice and easy hike.

We parked near the entrance to the amphitheater and came down the stairs on the right hand side and out to the trailhead. The sandstone rocks are incredible and are definitely the best part of the trek. The hike itself is fairly easy and the trail is pretty wide most of the way. If you’re visiting the amphitheater, go ahead and do this one.

This was a good hike. Pretty steep right from the get go. We took a lot of breaks. Good views along the way. Not overly crowded on the trail, but parking was pretty hard to come by on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Coming back up from the river was the hardest part for me. All in all, 4 hours well spent.

This is a great little hike. It’s pretty steep and gets the heart pumping. There are great views of Boulder along the way, and spectacular views from the top. Definitely worth the climb.

Our first run in Colorado - absolutely perfect! Very runnable, well maintained, and excellent views.
