I was taken aback by the ginormous, mossy boulders that make up this stunning trail. You can tell that this area has a rich geographic history to it. I have been to Niagara Falls more times than I can count but truth be told... I had no clue that this trail even existed. One of my close friends brought me here and now I can’t stop thinking about how badly I want to return to it. Make sure not to miss this trail!

Very nice/easy flat hike. Beautiful waterfall. Very tall. One of the prettiest.

short, with some what of a steep hike with an amazing view. would be nice for a picnic.

Love this place. If you go super early, or camp over night, you can hear the loons. It’s a beautiful sound! I’ve hiked in and used a kayak. Just remember to go under the over pass and always turn right if you kayak in, and you’ll get to Good Luck with no problem. :)

Awesome hike! I did this with my dog last week, for the most part it was pretty easy terrain, towards the top it did get a little rocky and I did have to lift him up at some points because he couldn’t jump that far. It was very cold and windy at the top as well which he wasn’t a fan of. Overall the hike was great! So beautiful. It got pretty muddy half way through so make sure to wear appropriate boots for it!

We took the gorge trail out and back, if you haven’t seen this trail definitely do it. There is a good set of stairs to climb and my knee was hurting but it was worth it. The fall was gorgeous and the bridge crossings were nice. You also should see the cowshed falls as well, it’s on the way.

Three large falls and many smaller falls. When the water is flowing through the gorge it is spectacular!

Spectacular waterfalls.

Waterfall after waterfall after waterfall! The gorge trail delivers endless beauty. Our dog loved it too. Took the rim trail back which gave great sunset light through the trees. Overall great walk in in the park lots of majesty for minimal to moderate effort.

Almost run entire way up in 2.5 hrs to make sunset, exhausted. What a race!

Very beautiful sunset!

From autumn colours to snowy winter on top and iced road at the end, you would experience huge different landscapes which makes the hiking very exciting.

Very muddy in certain area indeed.

Coming down taking memorial highway, which closed in Oct. Took 2 hrs. Clear night, star shining and Milky Way is high up in the sky. But it ends in a different trailhead. We were so lucky to meet a family from Tennessee. They drove us to our car. Big thanks here!

Overall, perfect and excellent hiking.

What a great hike. We started from the observatory parking lot and of course added Esther for a total of 10 miles. Check out my full write up.

Wow! This trail is called Good Luck cliffs for a reason, Good Luck on the descent without breaking an ankle, wrist, or hip. Unless, this time of year the conditions warrant not a good time to hike— overall, it was pretty dicey. However, all worth it when you get to the view from the top!! It is spectacular, as well as seeing all the caves and “stone-scrapers” on the ascent. I would not take my dog on this trail again, he was very agile but it was risky navigating the tree roots and flat rock surfaces on the descent.

****Just remember watch for the “cairn” on the right side of the trail before the second bridge—- that’s where you take the trail to the cliffs.****

Otherwise, you are hiking along Good Luck lake and further ahead is the trail to Spectacle Lake. The reviewers were right, little to no markers.

A nice easy walk with a spectacular view of Taughannock Falls. Lots of people coming & going but never too crowded to get nice photos. The gorge is as spectacular as the actual falls.

Always enjoy this hike any time of year except spring but only because the black flies will eat you alive.

Did the trail today hot and muggy for October
Leaves are changing. The falls had plenty water flowing and great hike was steep in the middle section
Popular trail being near Ithaca

It was an excellent hike. After Marble Hill the trail does get pretty wet, and I’m not even talking about the trail to Esther. No visibility from the top today but it was still worth it! It took me 3 hrs and 20 min up and 2 hr and 20 min down.

This was a really beautiful hike with great fall colors. It was pretty muddy, especially Esther, but still a fun hike!

A charming and leisurely hike. There are a few sets of somewhat steep stairs, but the climbs are brief. Beautiful waterfalls throughout. A small picnic area at the top before you head back down makes for a great break for kids.

We must have missed some markers because we thought we had completed the hike. I wish we'd gone a little further, apparently we were very close to the top. We finished off the day by kayaking on the lake... beautiful and definitely worth the trip!

Easy hike to a beautiful waterfall. you can get close enough to feel the most off the falls.

This was a beautiful, unique trail. The combination of man made structures and natural gorge were impressive to say the least. It felt like walking through a canyon built in biblical times on. The gorge trail and the rim trail had the most beautiful and literally breathtaking stair cases. I ran the 4.7 miles starting from the cabins and found that route excellent since the gorge trail was much more scenic and less challenging so it was a good way to cool down and end the run. Careful with the slippery stairs and maybe try doing this hike at the end of the day while the sun is just setting and rays of light drift through the lightly wooded forest and highlight the falls.

Hiked gorge to top and then took rim trail down- amazing falls on gorge trail A rim was quiet forest and so peaceful- lots of steps especially on gorge trail

I solo trekked this nice and slow with stops for photos on the way up. From this starting marker is 10.4 miles round trip not including Esther, so that should be updated. It was very muddy after all the rain last night. Worth the hike but took me about 8.5 hours solo with my short legs with some breaks and soaking up the sun and at the top.

Started at the bottom and went up the south rim. Steps weren’t bad at all! Beautiful views, well marked trail. Overall a fun hike!

I would have brought thin gloves with me as it was cold and starting to ice towards the summit. Long sleeves and another layer would be appropriate. It was a beautiful day and challenging hike. There was a lot of water on a lot of the trail too.

Great trail! I wouldn’t classify it as moderate closer to upper easy than moderate. However it was very beautiful the entire time! We started with the Rim Trail which merged into the Bear TrIl, then loops around the Lake and got back into the Gorge Trail. Took about 1 hour and 35 minutes or so. We had our dogs with us a long the way. There weren’t too many opportunities to let them off leash because of the occasional drops from the river or service roads but they still enjoyed their time.

Trail closed as of 9/17 indefinitely for maintenance

Fantastic trail for both a hike and bouldering!

Hiked back in June 2018, and previously in 2013. Great trail, train bridge is fun to go on but sketchy if you are afraid of heights, something like 175' over the creek below

Great trail for the whole family.
