Went on 08Dec18. A couple of areas where spikes are useful, not bad at all for this time of year.

This is rated "HARD" but find it to be intermediate; it shares the same trail for the Dry Creek Trail which is rated Intermediate. Went Mid-November 2018 and it took about 2.5 hours with stops for pictures and taking in the views. Trail was a mix of compacted dirt and some loose rocks so wear shoes with ankle support. Trail was clear of snow and there was only one icy spot about 1/4 mile up past the trailcamp meadow. I was easily able to walk through the brush and avoid it. The dead horse is still on the left of the trail just past the post for the 046 trail (on the right). The horse did not smell and was half buried, however my pup's nose had no trouble finding it. Only docking because the signs for the falls didn't exist.

Nice short hike, a bit washed out with some loose rock areas. Views are well worth it!

Great hike for all experience levels. When I went, there were plenty of families with kids, trail runners, and pups on the trail. There was no snow or frost when I went.

Difficult on the way down due to slippery gravel. Great view at top! Good hike with 2 eleven year olds.

On a clear day, it is a STUNNING view. Even on a smoky day, it’s still beautiful. It’s a steep hike up and not marked. However, it’s pretty self-explanatory. It’s well-traversed enough. You get to this first lookout area that’s flat, which means you’re almost there!

Excellent hike this morning. Predawn start to catch the sunrise from the top. Fresh layer of snow 1-2inches. The streams are frozen over enough to support my 200+lbs. Didn’t attempt the lake although it looked pretty thick. Plenty of deer to be seen and some moose tracks.

We went in November and the trail was rocky for a good portion of the trail and icy in a couple of spots but mostly dry. The falls leaves were mostly fallen. There was little to no signage to point us toward Horsetail Falls but we veered right at the first two forks and then went down a path to the Lower falls. Spectacular views and wonderful to see at dusk. It took us 2.5 hrs to go up and back.

Hike is fun and gives a great view over SLC. You park on the road and walk up. Look for the Yellow sign with numbers as this is the start of the trail - there are no signs for it. TV remote is a nice touch.

Beautiful view! Just like most people describe, this trail delivers a nice short, challenging jaunt.

I've read in other blogs that it is recommended to extend your trip to Mount Wire, a continuation of the Living Room Trail. I also recommend the summit Mount Wire to the old radio tower (breathtaking), but I would say taking the southeast route to the summit FIRST would be much easier (counter clockwise). That stretch is steep with loose rock scree and is difficult coming down. That way you'll have the Living Room to reward yourself with on the descent.

If you're just doing The Living Room, that is great too.

Very beautiful and enjoyable, however there are a lot of different trails and none of them have a marker so you kind of have to figure it out yourself. Good luck.

i liked it pretty short so go to red butte and make it a loop!

This is a beautiful trail (minus all the horse poop). The signage to the waterfall could be improved! It’s a steep climb but take your time, you will be be rewarded with nature beauty

This trail is always crowded and just really not worth the hype. You follow an eroded gulch half of the time. Wasps love the rocks at the living room. It’s popular because it’s accessible from town and not very long.

I enjoyed this trail! We started up about 7am. The fall leaves were pretty (once it was light enough to see), and there was very little mud. Because it was early on a Monday, we only passed a couple people coming down. While it wasn't so steep that you were rock climbing, it was a steady unbreaking incline up the canyon, and quite tiring for beginners. The "living room" set up at the top was awesome! (whoever brought the remote for the TV is the coolest). The view was gorgeous, with the sun beginning to shine out over the valley.

The water fall has dried out , but it was nice and easy hike . I enjoyed it itself

Beautiful hike! Lots of scrambling up the rocks

Really fun little hike, so close to town. Lots of people, lots of dogs, beautiful views from the "furniture."

This is one of my favorite lakes in the Wasatch. A good all around hike with a fantastic mountain lake at the end, that you can swim in. The trail gets fairly steep in some spots but nothing too bad.

Great hike to take the pups on with gorgeous views! Would definitely do the hike again on spring and fall! Mostly shaded single track trail with dirt and some boulders throughout. Had a nice quick stream crossing where you walked over some rocks and boulders to keep your feet dry. Almost all the fall leaves were on the ground already so the backdrop had a lot of bare trees. Not too crowded on a Saturday surprisingly. The drive up the road to the trailhead is pretty rocky and rough which was not very fun but the hike and views were well worth it. Parking lot was small so we parked on the roadside. Was glad to see that they honored the National Parks Pass so we didn’t have to pay any fees.

Beautiful hike!! Today the snow was about a foot deep on one section of the trail, but we were able to follow others' footsteps and really enjoyed the hike. It took us a little over two hours.

awesome hike! packed my 9month old and a bag with food and my tenkara fly rod. my wife had a little rough time but did great. The water shed has fish! wild brown trout. they loved the shop vac nymph.

Great views, great hike

Unable to hike now due to snow. I’m sure this hike is wonderful, but just wanted this review to be on here so people know the condition of the trail.

Great trail to take the pup out on! Keep an eye out for the moose about 1/2 way up. He loves to hang out in the thicket by the pines.

Rocky and not a pretty trail, old atv trail.

My friend and I hiked this trail after work. It was muddy and I slipped twice, but that was my fault. It was cold and snowy but it’s a beautiful trail and a beautiful lookout.

Love this hike. It’s awesome. The water slide at the end is cool too. Not sure why it’s rated hard though. This is moderate. Don’t be intimidated. It’s pretty trafficked though for sure. One of the best endings though.
