Absolutely gorgeous! Excellent choice for those who want to practice hiking longer trails but without too much elevation gain. Also great for those without 4WD because you can park at snowbowl!

This is quite fun if you like hopping from one rock to the next, but it’s not the best trail if you are just looking for an easy stroll. I liked it! A bit hard to navigate and there are several paths you can take...but it’s hard to get lost with a GPS.

LOVED this trail. Lots of scrambling, bouldering, and rock hopping. We paused many times to observe the beautiful rock formations, caves, tree varieties, fall colours and explore each area. My wife had our 7mo daughter on her back and managed to navigate fairly easily. It has challenging sections that follows the rocky creek bed but is very doable. The massive cave with falling water at the end was spectacular- pictures do not do it justice- it’s epic.

OMG pretty. lots of dogs on the trails. all cute

Mild rock climbing to the most beautiful payout

Started the trail from the north end. Fall is a great time to go, the weather was cool and the leaves were changing. Just be sure to pack rain gear because the clouds can gather just beyond the high ridges. North end was quiet, didn't see any other hikers.

Great trail not many people on it and always beautiful. The rocks kinda suck to hike over if you have a full pack but it’s worth it.

loved it!

This was a nice hike. It took me about two hours, which was longer than anticipated, but I am confused that the combo trail is listed as easy when each trail separately is moderate.

A good morning hike

This is my favorite trail within a 50 mile range of central Phoenix. This was my second trip there, and it was even better than the first. That's because the Arizona Sunflower was in bloom, and there were butterflies everywhere. I extended the hiking distance by 1.5 miles by parking at the entrance area rather than driving down the dirt road to the trailhead. The wash area at the end of the trail was mostly dry, so extended the hiking distance by hiking around that area as well.

Lovely Nature Walk!

Did 7km to get ourselves acclimated, will come back and do the full hike next time.

I can't imagine a better way to say goodbye to Arizona than by visiting this trail on the way back to Phoenix to catch a flight home. I was so disheartened as most of the parks in the area were closed due to wildfires... Luckily, were able to find this place using All Trails. The landscape was so serene, so beautiful. We went towards the end of June, and found ourselves absolutely alone as twilight approached. This is now my favorite trail in all the world.

good mix of terrain on the trail, uphill and downhill sections, lots of wildflowers and some nice views of the area. spotted a mature red necked thorny lizard basking on a rock, there seems to be lots along the trail but not fully developed into adults. watch out for falling trees!!

I would do this again, but I would go during the winter.
The area was beautiful, though the the water was muddy brown.
There was a few cairns but not much of a trail. We were walking through some tall grass when I stopped to express my concern about snakes and not being able to see my feet. My buddy came up behind me and and suddenly yelled “snake”! A rattlesnake took off through and almost on top of the long grass less than 5 feet from where I had just walked a few seconds earlier. Very scary, and we quickly turned around and got back to where you could see the ground....

Lot of switch backs exposed to the sun for a lot of the trail. Northern section is beautiful. Bottom of pine canyon is about as vibrant green as it gets in Az

My husband and I went yesterday (aug 19th) and loved it! Even the drive in with the cattle is fun. I'd say it starts out easy for about a mile then gets to a moderate/hard level. We turned back after a really great look out point at a little over 2.5 miles because we only had half our water left. We'll definitely go back when we're more prepared! It was rocky and sandy, the views were great, the terrain change was really interesting and the switchbacks provided some much needed shade. (It was 95 degrees out even though it was only 80ish in Payson) We even saw a doe across the valley which was awesome. We only saw two other people in the three hours we were on the trail, which was actually pretty nice! I highly recommend this trail!

Although this hike says moderate it is fairly easy. Fun for the whole family! We had our lunch inside the cave (pick up your trash) which was amazing. Beware the rocks are slippery!

Park ranger in the gift shop is RUDE! do not let him discourage you from this great hike.

good luck.

Great hike! Did the entire trail plus added a bit extra on by going up the Weatherford trail a ways before turning back - would up a little over 12 miles round trip.My wife and I enjoyed all the new growth and wild flowers after a month of some monsoon rains. It was 68 degrees - perfect, wonderful getaway from the valley. Good workout hike too,

So this hike I’ve been on several times growing up and definitely a hike to go on in the late winter or spring to see the waterfalls. Which in the past have seen up to three climaxing with the third in the canyon. I enjoy the difficulty especially because it keeps it relatively quiet of lazy hikers and people who leave trash behind. They seem to avoid harder trails which is great for the rest of us. Beautiful views and water keeps me coming back every year!

Amazing trail. Wonderful views. One of first times using the free app. It stopped recording somehow so not exactly how far i actually hiked. Preparing to go Havasupai - this trail has lots of ups and more ups! Good work out for me. Temp in low 80’s with overcast skies made it perfect !!!

One of my favorite hikes. So beautiful!

Not a bad trail. I’d say it’s easy and for all age groups. Relatively flat, lots of spots along the trail to pick the best route for your level of hiking ability. Perfect for beginners or people just getting back into hiking. Make sure you have plenty of water as with everywhere in AZ! Spots along the trail in the shade to take a quick little break! Check the weather reports and make sure you aren’t going to get stuck in a flash flood! Edit* went on 08/01/31 early afternoon.

We have 4 kids- 9, 7, 6, and 2. The bigger kids could do most of it all on their own. A few times we had to hold their hand but they loved it. There are a few cooler spots with small streams to play in. Beautiful scenery. The 2-year-old had to be held most of the time and passed between my wife and me, but we made it.

Loved it! Good parking lot. Only hiked 2 miles in and out as it started to get more difficult for our small pup. Beautiful scenery. Good tree coverage. Definitely will be back!!

Great hike. Might be hard for young children.
