HikingGreat!Snow

Loved this beautiful trail! Did it with a few inches of snow on the ground (11/11/20) and it wasn’t too bad. Didn’t see another person the entire time. The views are incredible! I recommend you do it counterclockwise for best vantage point and views.

Excellent hike with beautiful mountain views! Some moderate inclines add a bit of a challenge. Mostly open sagebrush with one section of gorgeous forest. Take a pause after the forest section (side trail to the left) to see the valley/gulch where you can see the trailhead.

Lovely fall afternoon hike. Enjoyed this loop more than proctor mountain or chocolate gulch.

Hiking

It was a nice hike with a good climb and good views. It had too much sage brush for my taste. There were a couple of nice forested sections but at least half the hike was out in the sage brush.

BackpackingGreat!

Did it backwards and avoided a lot of traffic. Great for dogs too. Very good footing.

Not great for Mountain Biking some very steep unridable sections going up towards the top and pretty loose coming back down. (Maybe on an ebike)

I love this trail. Easy loop, great views BUT the smoke was so bad. At this time with the wildfires it’s probably not worth it.

HikingGreat!No shadeRocky

Ditch your stairclimber and bust this loop. Or just bullet up the left side for a fast panoramic view of Baldy and the valley. We took the kids and they loved it. Not too much traffic when we went, just a perfect little walk (straight up) the hill and what a view!

We did this counterclockwise much more shade this way going up and wonderful views going down gives you time to take it all in! Bring lots of water and I found little spots of shade to rest. My kids loved this trail once we got the climb out of the way.

Lots of grouse for the first mile, if you go counterclockwise. Trail is also overrun a bit at the beginning. Went late in the afternoon, not much coverage so bring water and a hat or go earlier in the day. The view of Baldy at the top is pretty spectacular. Hard to run down, if you’re a trail runner, lots of loose gravel and rock. Definitely better to hike this trail in late May early June with the wildflowers.

Great hike. Early morning got a little chilly at the start but once you get a bit higher it def warms up. Sadly most of the flowers that are prevalent on this hike are gone.

Some spicy downhills with scratchy sage brush, uphills kinda sucked cuz you had to pop off the bike and walk it a lot but very scenic my man

Wildflowers are abundant. Signs of bear and elk in the area. Came across a badger at the first viewing area (counterclockwise). Highly recommend for a quick hike (1.5 hours)
