I e only ever done the very short part of this hike where we loop back after the suspension bridge but this time we decided to go right and continue on. I looked at the map and I saw where we could stay in the Lava Canyon trail by keeping left at the bridge. Once we hit SCOTT trail we took a little break over looking the river. We decided to go down SCOTT trail u til it met up with the upper part of Lava Canyon trail. It is t marked but you can see the trail to the left. Also I knew it was only .3 of a mile. They really should put signage there. The upper trail is all up! Looks like an old Forrest access road overgrown. But we had to take a couple short breaks to rest. It’s over 3 miles up. I believe we climbed about 1204 feet. I could definitely say no dogs past the suspension bridge and this is definitely rated HARD in my book. Scary at times. I am glad I did it.

Very beautiful with fall colors. Falls were alittle weak compared to other times visited, yet just as beautiful and worth the drive!!

This was by far my favorite hike of 2018. Challenging, beautiful, fun and plenty to see. Went of trail to get behind and underneath some waterfalls, but nothing too crazy!

This hike was pretty crowded on an October day. It starts out as paved, but turns into a rocky and dirt trail shortly into the start. It can be pretty slippery at times. It’s very beautiful and you get to go behind waterfalls.

kids loved it :)

This trail was absolutely beautiful. The trail was well maintained and clearly marked. It rained the night before so some of the trail had standing water but it was easy to go around it. The hike to the falls was slightly challenging with some incline and stairs but not grueling. This is a heavily trafficked trail with plenty of parking. Really loved the scenery on this trail.

Nice walk, small workout going back uphill. Had a picnic lunch on the rocks down at the river. Very nice.

Full of tourists.

Quite easy. lovely scenery. very busy on a Sunday around noon.

Lots of mushroom :)
Easy in most parts. Just before the waterfalls is a narrow slippery part of 10-15 meters.
Don’t forget to bring 5 dollars for parking.

⬇️⬆️ straight down, then straight up. Sore legs tomorrow!

It was a nice view but just very crowded... Very.

Went during the week and there were still a fair amount of people on the trail in the morning, but didn’t feel overcrowded. Winter Falls is currently dry and Double Falls is barely a trickle. Overall beautiful fall colors and scenery.

amazing cool day. easy walking. beatiful waterfall.

Absolutely beautiful!

Quite busy but good views.

Beautiful hike and waterfall at the end. Easy for myself and 11 year old daughter.

Pretty easy and nice!

The hike down to the river is as impressive as the falls itself, just kidding dummy the falls are so impressive.
Bring a couple different pairs of sun glasses to experience the cool secret optic fall attraction that happens. My glasses have a blueish hue while my girlfriends gave off an amber colored effect- she asked if I wanted to try hers but I said “no” because my male masculinity is very fragile.
I wanted to go over the falls in a barrel but we got there too late and I didn’t see the line for it and figured they must have ran out, next time we will skip picking up a friend from the airport and just go straight to the falls.
Oh and the hike up from the river to the top- if you have any bratty kids or old people in your life take them there just for that- they’ll hate every second of it and you’ll feel good knowing that somebody that deserves great discomfort is receiving great discomfort.

Went with my sister and 3.5yr old son. Loved it!!! The views at the falls are gorgeous. You need the Northwest Forest Pass or $5 to use this trail!

Such a beautiful hike. I live close by, so I did it in a few sections first. Took my sisters with me once. Then took my husband and we did the full loop last Sunday. He had not been there before. He loved it too! Lots of people later in the day, but most are very friendly.

Love it.

Busy path that was paved and pretty structured, but leads to gorgeous falls.

Loved the informational plaques. The Falls were gorgeous! The trail was heavily trafficked and there were many signs of rule breakers along the sides of the lower river bed.

Gorgeous Seattle woods. Easy trail, lovely waterfall

Fantastic hike with one amazing waterfall after another!

Not for kids or dogs. Watch your footing as it gets very narrow in some spots. It was pouring rain when we went so we had to be extra cautious on the slopes and the ladder.

Exquisite and idyllic!

This was an easy hike with gorgeous waterfalls. It can get crowded, especially at the falls that are less than a mile from the trailhead, but the farther away from the trailhead I got the less people I saw.
