Great trail, beautiful views. Stay at Jake's Place and do a side hike to Slave Falls.

Really great hike! Lots of flowing water and small falls from all the recent rain. Multiple wildflower species just popping out. Recommend starting on lower arch part of loop and taking loop all the way to Jake’s Place (ideal spot for picnic or rest on the rock benches) and on to Charit Lodge. There’s a suspension bridge that follows on to the Sheltowee Trace we had to try out just off main trail. Then on for a relatively steep climb for the last mile. Well worth the finish on the upper loop.

Trail was well kept. Just before and following Jake’s Place there were lots of wooded plank bridges on the trail that made for fun adventures for the kids. This part of the trail followed a well flowing creek. Very wet and muddy trail on the back side but the previous day it rained all day. Waterproof or resistant boots a must.

Took us approximately 4 hours. The 5 year old set the pace.

This trail is odd - some places the trail is narrow - other places you are on the road - some parts are fairly steep too -- and better have your alltrails map - it is very poorly marked -- however, the scenery is great and the lake is beautiful. We mapped it at 4.72 mi. Would def do it again. Dogs are fine on this one - many opportunities to get in the water.

it is a trail that is very well marked and it would almost be impossible to get lost. The Welch's Point Overlook is an unbelievable view of Scott's Gulf. Interesting variety of scenery!

enjoyed this late winter hike but let the tick season begin. found two even after liberal application of Deet.

A great place to hike and get outside with so many trails you could hike for days. Awesome swing bridges to cross the rivers too. The view from the ridge was beautiful and we will definitely be back to do more hiking and possible campout in their several designated spots.

a beautiful area! hiked down to Charit Creek Lodge then looped back out through Jake's place. total 5.5 mi.

Great trail with awesome scenes and many waterfalls.

It was a great trail and a great way to spend the day.

Me and my friend went today! Gorgeous falls, gorgeous overlook, but the trails could have been marked better. We ended up getting lost twice, but finally made our way back!

Seriously in my top 3 most beautiful hiking trails, including the Twin Arches in Savage Gulf and Virgin Falls. The entire route is interesting and amazingly gorgeous, with rock formations galore, several creeks, and all the little waterfalls your heart can imagine. The overlooks are breath-taking!!!

I would recommend turning around and going back the same way after making it to Welch's Point, which is about 2.5 miles in. The last stretch puts you out on the gravel road, and that is what makes the loop back to the trailhead. That part is nothing to get excited about, but the overall experience is still fantastic!

Love love this loop. Amazing views. Beautiful.

Interesting man made waterfalls—quite a feat of labor and engineering, wonderful overlook. The hike goes a way by the interstate which you have to get used to, and big chunk rock demands focus! But all in all, it’s a great hike.

This is a nice hike! If you just want to see the waterfalls and make it to the top of the racetrack, I suggest parking off of Shelton Hollow Road. The waterfalls are less than half a mile away from the pull off where you park. If you start at the official trailhead you hike alongside the interstate and the noise and smell is distracting.

This is a great trail with some good views but the best part is the Arches of coarse and the rock out crops are a sight also I think in one place saltpeter was mined lots of holes drilled in the rocks the part that follows the creek was peaceful but a little muddy loved it I rate it moderate

Considering there aren't many places to go on a nice, moderate hike in the area of Macon/Clay counties, this is a great place to be with nature and to enjoy a peaceful hike.

Nice little hike through the woods. Waterfalls look like a scene out of Narnia when they’re snowy and frozen!

Easy hike. Adequately marked. A lot of the "trail" is actually on road and uninspiring. A short pretty forest section at about 1.2 miles is the exception. The big payoff is Welch's point which is as beautiful as advertised. Never found Amber's "den". There is a sign indicating the direction (this is about 2.2 mi in) and 1.1 mile distance to Amber's Den near Welch's Pt. I took this fork in the woods and after 1.4 miles ended up on the banks of the Caney Fork. Pretty, but not what I was looking for. Virgin Falls definitely the better option if looking to hike in this area.

Pretty cool trail. The waterfalls look gnarly frozen.

Referring to the larger loop hike (about 5 miles), this was a great trail and hike. Well maintained and the arches are great. But even more, the bluffs and rock formations all along the latter portion of the loop were breathtaking. The loop goes last the northern arch, descends down to a beautiful creek, passes the lodge, then slowly ascends to the southern arch. A lot to see along the way on this moderately difficult trail. Well worth it;

Found this trail today it was a great hike with fantastic scenery and fun to hike.

Spent a short winter's day on most of this loop - very enjoyable and the majority of the trail was well-marked with white blazes, especially the Snoopers Rock portion. Had some trouble finding where the trail continued after reaching the ATV road on the western part of the mountain - had to walk up the road itself maybe 150 feet to find a small wooden sign marked "Trail." All in all it was a great experience despite the fog and I'll definitely be back!

Amazing green trail, the turns and downhill riding get you’re adrenaline rushing!

Nice hike through the woods, it is by the interstate. we went after the fires and the top of the mountain was burnt pretty good. nice views and the waterfalls were cool

next to the interstate so you get some noise pollution. I could see this being snaky in the summer. falls are worth seeing!

Beautiful.

This has been my least favorite trail ever. There were lots of spiderweb's, the trail was overgrown with vegetation and as a bonus, we got a bad case of chiggers. The beginning was very beautiful though. I loved the creek.
