Really beautiful walk. Along the river and back over moorland. Only drawback was last bit on road. Otherwise really enjoyed

Nice walk by the river. Covid means it is currently one way. And beware - the footpaths appear to cross the river on the map, but only if you are happy with water above your ankles!

If you like a hike this is a great walk. The Tarr Steps are with seeing. They are grade one listed medieval bridge. Some bits are muddy so take you walking books. At some points it was like a scene out of Lord of the Rings.

lovely trail following the river. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear as the path can be very slippery and muddy if it has been raining. We took a detour to see Tarr Steps bridge and then through moorland to avoid some roads. all in all, a good long hike.

We didn’t start at the start point, We started in the small village Porlock, We went anti-clockwise, Weather started off rainy but soon stoped, There was not wind so wasn’t cold, We did 14km in 3h 30 minutes, This wasn’t a very hard walk, quite easy with a good varied amount of things to see, Also a varied terrane with muddy paths, Stony beeches, woodland uphill and yes.....down hill. There’s also a lovely little place at the end of Porlock weir to get some home made soup, The rout from the old Life boat look out to the beech is not clear, a little confusing at it crosses a live stock field that say no right of way and you can’t see a path, But this is the way. All in all a lovely little walk.

WalkingGreat!

The walk was beautiful, it feels much longer than 8.1 miles due to the hills. quite rough terrain at times but very enjoyable.

Due to covid, this hike was done in reverse in order to adhere to the one way system of the much shorter circular trail which you overlap with a bit. Even w/o that I would do it in reverse order and get the steep bit out of the way at the beginning, and end with the trail by the water and under the shade. Note that doing it in reverse, you'll walk on the road to Withypool for a bit before going off road again. Withypool is about half way and you can stop for lunch or a snack if you've not brought along lunch. There are muddy bits even with a dry summer this year.

Great walk. Very muddy and some difficult terrain. Steep climbs to avoid disappearing paths. Cow churned paths. Autumn colours were fantastic. Pubs very welcoming. We had a great day.

The beach of Porlock is made up of boulders, so that part definitely isn't easy. Access to the beach from the path up to the coastguard lookout is temporarily closed off due to grazing cattle (didn't see any though)
