High winds, snow drifts, blue skies with awesome priceless views. We were 500m from the highest elevation on the trail, however the snow drifts and steep narrow terrain made it unsafe to proceed. Definitely will be back in summer/fall.

No Widlings or Whitewalkers to report. A small contingency of the Knights Watch ventured out along the beautiful river and rustic bridges. Not too much traffic and made it half way between Lillian and Lower Galatea Lakes. The views are probably much more rewarding in the summer. Brace yourself....winter is coming.

Some of the parts of the trail were closed so it was up and down the same path to the mini lakes at top.

We did that morning Nov 24, 2018 after snowy night, it was very nice with many up and down hill with very nice view, it has parking lot so you don't need to park your car in the road side...

Nice walk around a lake, especially on a summer day. Can be busy, but still enjoyable.

Easy hike really close to Banff town.
No longer than 1 hour, not very steep but amazing views from the top both to the valley and the town.
They have several viewpoints along the way, and reaching the summit is easy. Great for beginners.
You can leave your car at the beginning of the mountain just by the cabins (free parking) and hike the road that leads to the actual trailhead for 10 minutes.
Totally worth the effort.

Frozen lake was amazing!

Wow! Amazing reward at the top!

Gorgeous view!! Nice easy trail :)

Stunning hike, easy terrain. Beautiful after first snowfalls

Nov 11 2018
Beautiful winter hike. Easy trail was very easy. Probably good with a stroller.
More difficult was full of tree roots and rocks under the little snow. Closer to the top of more difficult trail you need crampons. It was pure ice due to the overflow.
From the lakes, the hike up the stairs has a nice lookout. At the very top you can cross the road for a nice mountain and lake view.
Outhouse on site.

Fun little walk. Pretty scenery

Went on Nov 12th. Sunny. Temp -5. Trail spilt into more difficult and east. More difficult has lots of frozen icy surface which are extramely spiliry. lots of beautiful forest view and sunny mountain view. Trail beyond water fall is covered in frozen ice. Spikes are recommended for that part of the trail.
Grassi lakes at the end of the trail is very beautiful and not frozen so you still see the beautiful color of the water.
I would go back in summer again.

Enjoyable easy hike :)
Went 3 weeks a go a bit slippery in some spots but other then that a good fun hike.

Not recommended for the harder side in the winter unless you have good shoe spikes. Great views and a pleasant trail when recovering from a hard trail. Lots of traffic even in winter and much better than Quarry Lake all around.

went on Nov 11th. Temp -5. Sunny and snowed a little bit.
watch out for deer bo(p)m(o)b(o)s(p).
Very light and easy Trail, and close to town so u get a bit of road noise. if you're in the area and are looking for a nice light walk, it's not a bad Trail to take. the river was partially frozen, watch out when you walk on the ice because we almost fell in.

nice little loop around the Quarry lake.
very relaxing walk. nice view of mount lady mcdoanld. also good off leach dog park area. lake was slightly frozen. lots of cute dogs. took us 30 - 45 min with broken legs. not really broken but worn out after mt lady McDonald trail.
peeing in the lake is not at all recommended as it is a very popular community trail.

This should really be rated as easy- if you can do it in jeans it’s not that difficult. Beautiful views of Banff at the top, great hike if you want to squeeze something quick and easy into your day. Wise to bring spikes in winter- there were a couple sections where they would have been appreciated.

We did this hike on November 3rd. It was beautiful. Hardly any snow.

A beautiful location for an off leash dog park! A short walk to the lake and a small loop around it.

Enjoyable hike with scenic views of the spray lakes for most of the way. The campground is closed so parked at the further parking lot and walked along the road 1km to the trailhead. The initial trail was flat terrain for about 2 km but quite icy in multiple spots. Took us 3.5 hours to get to the beginning of the lateral moraine, from where the glacier would probably be visible in summer. We turned around at this point due to knee-height snow and undefined trail/glacier. Decent winter hike but lack of reward in reaching the destination. Fresh snowfall would make the trail more difficult to follow in winter. However, would recommend with variety of terrain and views.

Hike was awesome! Easy trail for sure! Highly recommend it, lots to see for sure!

nice hike.

Did this mountain via ha ling gully (wear a helmet) , miners peak to back bowl of grassi. Climbers scramble up to a ridge and venture upwards it until you reach a small climb on a narrow with dramatic drops on either sides. Conquer that and its smooth sailing. Take Lawrence grassi route out. Super fun alternative routes for ha ling and grassi

Mt Townsend or cougar peak via cougar creek;)

Windy. So very very windy, which makes sense with the name. Bring layers, last 200 m is cold and gaiters are key as snow is knee deep up top. Pretty hike though!
