Nice trail if not crowded. Fun to do with a little snow. Amazing view of the reservoir.

My first real “hike” in Colorado. At the start of the trail I saw so much dog poop. I am glad it wasn’t all over the trail. Once you head up in elevation the pine trees start appearing. So scenic. The waterfall was frozen but I bet in the spring it’s stunning. I’ll be back.

love the fresh snow

This is my favorite close by hike ❤️

Beautiful views by the reservoir

Easy hike! Only some patches of ice but I was fine without crampons. Super clean trail & easy trail to follow thats offleash for the pups!

Loved it. Great hike from beginning to end. Some icy patches, glad I had crampons on my bag. Next time, I’ll pack a lunch to enjoy along with the view from the top.

Awesome trail for hiking running or nature walking with your dog. Yesterday was very cold, came back with freezing hands and face. hand warmer and a scarf would it helped. Beautiful views specially when you get to the dam.

Excellent views; great introduction to Fort Collins.

Great place to hike with the dog off leash. Crampons would have been useful today (mid December) at the higher elevation but we were okay without them. Recommend to dog owners.

This was our first time to hike Horsetooth and it was beautiful. I took my 7 and 10 year old and we all made it to the top with no issues. There are a few slick spots along the way but we easily navigated around them. Views from the top are beautiful and I’ll be back for sure

I love this place

Beautiful and secluded. Need spikes for the upper loop part.

This was a great hike. It was so icy and hard to navigate. I will definitely go back when it gets warmer.

Great views! Currently the trail is a little icy and snow packed. We got through just fine without spikes, but they certainly would have helped.

Great way to burn some calories on Thanksgiving. A decent portion if this hike is on a gravel road but it was beautiful thoughout. Lovely views and some moderately challenging elevation change. Some parts were quite icy today but we were careful and fall-free without krampons.

Great hike, snowy but very accessible.

This is borderline easy-moderate. The majority of the trail was snow and ice covered on 11/10/2018. We had microspikes and didn't have any issues. Would definitely recommend microspikes or snow shoes in the near future as winter starts moving in. The streams are partially frozen but you can still see some water flow - makes for some neat ice formations! The lakes and ponds are all frozen but still very pretty

Do not hike this trail. Only hike this trail if you want a rude man to drive past and threaten to call the sheriff on you when there are no trail closed signs posted. Come back in ten years or so.

This is a really great day hike if you live nearby and are off to a late start for the day. We came from neighboring Longmont and started the hike around 3. Got back to the car right after the sun went down. The creek is beautiful and it's really cool to see some local infrastructure at work. I highly recommend this hike.

Easy and fun hike with the kid and the dogs.

low traffic, beautiful pines surround you, very peaceful, great for anyone

Beautiful hike with some stunning views. Very heavily trafficked especially on the road leading to the Sleepy Lion trail, but everybody kind of spreads out after that.

We went on this trail on (10/15/18) after a big snow and it was awesome. THE MOMENT we stepped out of the car we saw a huge moose about 100 ft away. Immediately turned around and walked towards the trail. About 20 steps into the trail there was an even larger moose, about 50 ft in front of us. We were pretty spooked and almost just went back to the car but we waited a bit and he went on his way, so glad we continued. We went up and turned onto the first lake trail (I forget the name) and it was frozen and beautiful.

$11 day use fee, there are better places in the area with no fee and less crowded. The sign said something ambiguous about there being no fee during winter, so I watched a few others drive in without paying and assumed it must be winter. Trail was icy, used yaktrax. Snow was deep past Isabelle lake. I think you can park back a couple miles from the long lake TH and walk in for free.

I loved the walk! It was easy and gave ya some work uphill. It was very very windy.. sometimes you can see the Elk and sometimes you can’t. Great for families with strollers!
