8/18/2018-Definitely one of the muddier and more humid visits to this trail. We started around 0735 and crossed paths with 20 groups/solo hikers. There were a handful of large groups with kids in tow on our way out so it seems like the popular time to go hiking is around 0900. The waterfall was nice and the mud slowed us down quite a bit but well worth the exercise!

Definitely a chill hike, play in the mud on the way up and wash it off in the falls as you swim in some amazing pools!

Great trail. Great pool below falls with some good jumping into water from 10-50 ft elevations for daring. Muddy. This is not a trail for flip flops or tennis shoes, should really use hiking shoes....Dozens of blown out flip flops on trail. A nice 3 hr - 4 hr round trip with time at falls and pool. Very muddy ... not too buggy but you will get bit by a few mosquitos.

Gorgeous easy to do hike that is child friendly and paved. Much harder “off road” hike down to the tide pools but definitely worth it (climb straight down rocks)

Gorgeous waterfall/ pond to swim in. Muddy hike that was a little tough to follow at times. Shady. Not child friendly.

Great starting trail! Perfect for people new to the island.

I love it, what's not to love hiking in Hawaii, country side.

Prepare to walk through water more thanks once to get to the beautiful water fall. So worth it.

Fairly moderate with no real gradients. Very muddy at the moment but slippery rather than deep. Very peaceful and great when it’s hot out as it’s fairly covered. Pigs are damaging some of the trail and I saw a fairly large one at the 4 mike mark. Worth doing for a quick outing.

Great trail, though it’s longer than listed. My app said it was 5.6 miles for the loop. Starting at the lower parking lot helped.

A moderately easy trail with an awesome waterfall and swimming hole at the end.

They probably went via Po’opo’o Place or Kamahele St., the two alternate backways. They boarded up the Kamahele St. steps and posted signs telling hikers to go away.

This trail is CLOSED for now. Not sure how others can review it in the past weeks. They have signs posted.

I’m going on my past experience before it was shut. Great views and awesome for exercise.

Quiet technic but ok ... super place to see ... we enjoyed it . Not for raining days at all ... our 9 walked easily to the fall but he is used to .

Came here for the tidepools. What an awesome experience! Should've paid attention to the directions, first headed down the wrong trail from the first lookout. Realized my mistake after scrambling down about 100 feet before deciding to turn back. The trail leading down to the tidepools was off of the third lookout. The way down was definitely more treacherous. Smaller kids would likely need a lot of help. But it was well worth it. By far the most memorable part of the trip for us. The tidepools were amazing with its wide array of fish. Nice reward for the work hiking down with a dip in the pool. The dragon nostrils were also impressive.
The hike back up was strenuous but easily doable. Made it back up in under 15 minutes.
Overall, this is must do for anyone looking for a memorable experience in Oahu.

Great running trail!

What a breathtaking view up there definitely must do trail

amazing

its a very good hike especially for beginners. you can see the H3 freeway and the ridge mountain. it's beautiful

We were there on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't crowded. Dry, desert landscape, but the views at the top are awesome. We had the extra treat of seeing a hanger glider and a paraglider playing in the air right in front of us.

Great ridge trail. Challenging, but much safer than others I have hiked. Not a great hike for small children, but everyone else can enjoy it. It was muddy today, recommend hiking boats or trail runners. Tennis shoes might not cut it for some people.

Despite the lack of waterfalls today, this was a great family hike. We carried one kid the whole way, while our three year old alternated walking/riding. Bring bug spray and wear shoes with good grip as the trail is muddy even during the driest periods.

Awesome hike. According to my GPS it 2.3 miles each way and all uphill. My five year old was a trooper and did it, but she has been building up to these hikes. l carried my three year old in a kid carrier and l would highly recommend a good walking stick for coming back down the summit stairs. All in all one our favorite hikes on the Island.

Such a pretty view!❤️

Great hike for my little ones and pregnant wife!
