Been coming here for my evening work outs, I love this trail, lots of wildlife and beautiful views and tonight I saw TWO MOUNTAIN LIONS!! They were on the laughing horse section of the extended trail, I noticed a herd of deer running up and over the ridge and a few seconds later I saw the two lions below crouching down and moving from bush to bush! Got my heart pumping but what an experience!

Extremely popular trail. We started at 6:30 in the morning and didn't have to share Emerald Lake with too many people, so going early will earn you a little more serenity. It's gorgeous all the way there.

Hiked this on a Monday, 4/16 ~0930. Only shared the trail with 1 other couple but the lot was filled by the time we left. Microspikes absolutely needed, gorgeous hike! Can be difficult to find the trail at first, just take a left at the huge boulder after Nymph

We hiked this with 4 kids aged 5 through 9. We made many stops along the way but was delightfully enjoyed by all. We were there in July, the trail was crowded but less so as we passed the first two lakes. We swam in the lake, it was wicked cold, and then basked in sun on the large rocks to dry off. Great times by all.

Very flat hike. Good for beginners. You pretty much get the same view the whole way, but it's gorgeous! I only went about 3.5 miles in and turned around. Lots of traffic on a Sunday, but the trail is so wide hikers, bikers and runners can enjoy in harmony.

Some very steep drop offs if you are afraid of heights, which I am. I was able to do the whole thing but would not do it again or recommend to someone afraid of heights.

LOVED the red rock views on this hike. Truly spectacular. I just tried to imagine I didn’t see the giant houses nearby. ;-)

It was a nice hike, but be aware of the summit- it’s not very spectacular. There are nice views on the way up and on the first half of the loop (going clockwise) but not much to see at the top but burned trees. The trail was in good shape and we enjoyed the walk. It took us (a family of 4) just over 2 hours.

Forgotten Valley is actually probably only about 3.5 miles round trip. I’d rate it as moderate... plenty of uphill. Beautiful bright blue pond and old houses from the 1800s at the end of the trail. Went 4/16 and no snow. Make sure to keep track of where you turn as there are a few times the trail branches off.

It had been a long time since I had been on this trail, and was sad to see that the surrounding area had been pretty heavily developed. The trail itself is still nice, but the view of mini-mansions was disappointing to say the least. If you are trying to get way from civilization for a few hours, this isn't your trail.

We went for a bike ride, it's a beautiful place, mountains, river, bighorn are some of the things you can enjoy on the walk, an easy way for the little ones.

Gorgeous red rocks. Easy to get lost, but that’s part of the fun! Best if you enjoy climbing rocks - climbing to the peak of them was a highlight for me. Can be scary climbing back down from rocks. The grass is so green at some parts that it looks prettier than some golf courses!

It’s a beautiful Sunday so we expected it to be a little crowded and it was- but only for the first part of the trail. Once we hit the loop, we only ran into a few people throughout the hike. The views are amazing- especially once you get into the loop. It does get tight in places and there are quite a few rocky areas to navigate but overall it was a fun and interesting trail!

Awesome short day hike! It is a little rocky in some spots just as a heads up. Took about 2hours to complete.

(8 p.m. - 11 p.m.) Snowing at Bear Lake parking lot and all the way through Emerald Lake. Nymph and Dream both had water on top of the ice and had to walk along their shores. Used crampons from the parking up to Dream Lake and then switched to snowshoes. Wind has always picked up at the start of Dream Lake, with the snow visibility was poor, needed to use a head lamp to and from Emerald Lake. It was a good trip!

Average at best. It’s more a biking trail than hiking trail. So you have to step aside for bikers a lot. Also not ideal for dogs for the same reason. The enchanted forest part of the hike was very pleasant and peaceful. But apex trial is completely exposed to the elements. Also definitely not 5miles. The trail shown is around 3miles

I went on Thursday 4/12 at around noon. I really enjoyed this hike but we also had beautiful weather. Not far from Denver, parking lot was pretty full though. However, once on the trail I didn't see many people. Very scenic views of Golden. Was a relatively easy trail, I was going to do another loop but ran out of time. Took me about 2 hours and I took my time. Trail was marked pretty well except for a couple spots.

Great for most levels of ability. No need for snow shoes, was just fine in microspikes, probably wouldn’t recommend without. Beautiful views throughout the hike.

When it is windy, this is the best place to hike. My favorite go to hike. There is also a trail head a Pocco Calle and better parking than on the busy road!

Beautiful, fun hike! Did on 4/11 and traction definitely helped, especially coming down. You definitely don’t need snowshoes right now though. The trail is pretty easy to follow for the most part. Just make sure when leaving Nymph Lake, you go on the left side of the rock, not the right.

Parking lot was completely full (1pm), had to park down the highway a bit on the side of the rode. Trail was in good condition, though, mostly dry. Long stretches where there was no one else on the trail with me, which was great. Beautiful views of Golden, Denver, and the mountains. Great afternoon hike only 30 minutes from my house.

Words can’t describe the beauty of the entire hike. Not a bad hike at all good for everybody

Nice walk, friendly people and dogs.

Quite icy. Had snowshoes but only needed them to deal with the ice.

Was not expecting to go on this hike but so glad I did! Some parts get a little narrow and close to the edge but nothing hard to navigate. My favorite hikes include water, huge rocks, dense forest mixed with amazing views & some wildlife & this has it all!

Decent trail. A bit muddy at first this time of year but it dries up not far in. The trail is narrow with a lot of rocks. Nice sweeping views of the valleys below.

worth the hike! the last mile is tough but the views are spectacular. This is my favorite hike in Colorado.

Did this trail on bike. Very beautiful scenery. Saw mountain goats and Deer right next to us. Kind of windy for a bike ride..down hill was fun!

Very beautiful area, you’ll definitely need micro spikes and trekking poles, it made a world of difference even on the easy bear lake hike. Unfortunately we got lost after nymph lake and had to turn back. Wish there was some visual marker after nymph lake.

The mountain shop is 30 minutes away, not 12 minutes as one reviewer posted so best to get the spikes first.

Lost dog. His name is Stanley and he was last seen on this trail on 4/5. He is a 70 pound wire haired German Shorthair pointer. Very friendly. If you see him please call 720-940-1089. If you can grab his collar and catch him please do so. His owner is hiking the area to find him as we speak.
