This is a really nice trail, but as has been said, it's not moderate, it's quite easy. Very well marked, which is super nice. Lots of saguaro. It's rocky though, and lots of small loose rocks. It is only one of a few areas in Tucson where lots of people mountain bike, and we went on a Sunday, and there were a LOT of mountain bikers. Now, I also MTB, but I would never ride such a narrow trail on the weekend. Not one biker yielded the right of way, because there's virtually no way to do so. But it was a nice hike with friends, nice breeze, no road noise, no shade. We would have probably given it a 5 had it not been for the sheer number of bikers. Don't think I'll do this again hiking.

Beautiful views!!! Although very rocky and a lot of brush half of it I’d do it again. If you can only do half of the loop I suggest going clockwise and take a pic half way at the top....it’s breath taking. Trail is very easy to follow.

Beautiful. The petroglyphs on picture rocks wash were unexpected and amazing to see. Also sat on a bench in the Way of the Cross garden near the petroglyphs. A lovely spot to rest. And snack.

Clearly marked trails. Beautiful cactus.

Perfect trail to hike with dog and boyfriend.

Excellent walk

took me a little over 4 hours to complete the trail, loved the views, not too steep, and perfect weather!! the app recording didn't work well so I couldn't get the accurate distance

on Phoneline Trail

Took 4 hours today to do the out and back on the trail. Most people seem to take the road back, but to me, road walking is boring and harder on the legs. The hardest part is the first third — both for grade and rocks. Beautiful hike, and starting at 8, didn’t see many other hikers.

Really enjoyable hike. We took the road up and the Phoneline back down. Excellent views and coming down its a very good hike. It wasn’t crowded like 7 Falls and the option to take the road gives some variety. It’s the usual Tucson footing and weather. The 5 star hike in Sabino Canyon is 7 Falls but this is my next favorite.

Really gorgeous area and a well designed trail system that allows for a variety of routes. Some rocky areas, but well maintained overall with good signage. Great place to walk your dog, though there are no facilities at the trailhead--not so much as a trashcan--so be prepared to pack out waste. Plenty of parking, though, which is good, as this seems to be a popular spot.

Great views, not to steep. A very pleasant hike!

Great trail, we took the tram up and hiked back to the visitor center. Take plenty of water!

It took us 2.5 hrs- went off trail by accident. Beautiful walk, shady and cool. We hiked Christmas Day 2018,morning. By 12pm the park was getting crowded.

Quick and easy hike from jw marriott hotel! Views were nice, lots of cactus to see.

Very enjoyable walk!

Rocky terrain, wear boots. Trail does get narrow at points so pay attention to cacti. Great hike!

Wonderful hike, gorgeous scenery. Well-marked trail and not too much people traffic. I took the paved road up to the turnaround (tram Stop 9) then continued onto the zigzag trail to get on Phoneline. Stunning views. Definitely raises your heart rate!

trail running

Easy trail that I was able to run. The trail is relatively narrow though, so there were some areas where I momentarily wandered off into the washes. Beautiful hike with amazing views. Would highly recommend.

A nice short trail with great views of the pass. I did this as a run but it was a bit rocky at times.

We went in April and nobody else was around because of the heat. But the trail was lovely!

Very nice easy trail. Perfect for a morning walk before it gets too hot.

Beautiful trail with many different cactus species present as well as many other native plant species. There are signs designating the species names along this trail. Not too many other hikers but that was probably due to our visit in October 2018.

loved the trail! went during the best time, there was water, it was low 60s, and there weren't very many people. i bet summer is brutal, but i totally recommend it this time of year.

Cute trail. Easy.

Easy hike/walk with friends. Struggle to find the trail in some places but still easy to walk the dry creek bed and pick up the trail further on. Shade, birds, spots where water rushes over rocks, many vista points to stop and snack or take pics.

Really nice walk - took my dog - a few mountain bikers and trail runners out there

Only hiked in part due to time constraints- hiked up signal hill to see the view from up high and the petroglyphs (petroglyphs are why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4). The view and the sheer amount of cacti deserve 4 stars. Hiked it once but would choose to experience another hike should I ever make it back to Saguaro National Park.

Well marked and beautiful views! Took my two dogs and they loved it. Only saw one other hiker and two mountain bikers.

Nice easy trail. Lots of birds, bugs, and just plain ole nature! Good photo opportunities and gorgeous sunset. It took me 1:20:49, but could've completed faster if not for all the photos I took.
Would do again and again and never get tired of it.
