HikingGreat!

Great kid friendly hike with a lot of fun attractions split apart at the right time to keep them entertained. Clean, well “lite” but marked trail. Easy up and downs and not to busy. Definitely a repeat.

Nicely cleared trail with multiple direction options. Beautiful, shaded forest setting. Very enjoyable. I hiked this with my dog, and saw several mountain bikers enjoying the challenges as well. Definitely would do it again!

Bird watchingGreat!

Trillium and salmon berry in bloom, didn’t see a single primrose though. Beautiful day, not too many people.

Nature trips

Very well maintained trail. Parking lot is a little small. Got there about 10am on Saturday and find no parking. Decided to wait a bit and found a spot. Many nice little creeks and a small waterfall. We were scouting for mushrooms but found none. Daughter spotted a baby deer about half way up. 70% wear masks. Will come back when trail is blossom and greenery. Right now trees are very dry only branches. We took the red town trail and daughter was wondering if the town is red. Daughter was also wondering if red town has treats and ice cream. It turns out the end of red town trail is just another “parking lot” sadly no ice cream.

#CoalCreekTrail is a 5+ mile heavily trafficked out and back #trail located in #Bellevue. I started from Cinder Mine trail head since it is very hard to find a parking spot at Red Town trail head in CMRWP. I walked toward Red Cedar trail head first, on my way back, I took Primrose trail instead of the original route. There is a beautiful water fall. I then continued to Red Town direction to check out another water fall and a mine air shaft before going back to Cinder Mine. https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/sun-04-apr-2021-00-22-490640b https://youtu.be/RXlwT1CiFuA

BackpackingGreat!Muddy

Beautiful trail! This route does take you up the steep hillside, but it’s worth it! I came back down the trail and took the Primrose trail loop for a gentler slope down the hill to the creek.

SnowshoeingFeeGreat!IcySnow

Did this on Saturday March 27 with my 10 year old. Total mileage: 6.1 mi RT, not including additional 1.5 mi RT to the side of the road where we parked our car. June Lake is rated easy on All trails but only in the summer where there is no snow. It is more moderate for me as we started from Marble Mountain Sno-Park. This Sno-Park was shared with snowmobilers who used NF-83 and MSH climbers who used Worm Flows route. I know today would be a busy day at MSH as today was the last weekend to climb Mount St. Helens with a free self-issued permit and this weekend was forecasted to be sunny. We got to the side of National Forest road around 11:30 ish and the parking situation was a total madness and we did not start snowshoeing until around 12 PM. The beginning of the trail was busy with climbers and skiers but as soon as we were at June Lake Trailhead, it was literally only me and my son on that trail. I worried for a bit but there were plenty of light and the trail was well marked, so route finding was easy. We only encountered 2 groups of snowshoers at the lake and I think they used Swift Creek and then Pika trail to reach the lake. I believe this is the trail where they would be able to see MSH unobstructed. From June Lake Trail, we could only see a peekaboo view of the mountain. We took Swift Creek Trail from the Sno-Park, cut right to West Fork Snowmobile trail and then left to Pine Marten Trail. We used the road to reach June Lake TH and did June Lake Trail both ways. On the way back to the Sno-Park, I decided to take the road as it looked easier. We only encountered a few snowmobilers on the road so the whole snowshoeing trip was actually great (minus the parking of course)

Running

Really nice trail. There are some spots that are muddy but nothing too bad. There was a lot of people on the trail but most wore masks and it was easy to maintain distance.

We didn’t follow the trail map but we did enjoy randomly taking each turn and walking through the woods. The road by the water was windy and cold but the weather and temp was perfect up the hill on the trails! Apparently there was a cougar sighting in the area —— be cautious.

Nice urban trail. Lots of planes overhead and you walk through a wastewater plant at one part. View at the beach is nice.
