Veda and Mirror are preferable to Trillium Lake. Crowds are awful. Trail is in utter disrepair. Signage sucks. It was overcast, therefore views of Mount Hood were non-existent.

To call this a hike would be a bit of an exaggeration. Went on a Sunday in August and it was so packed it took us about 10 minutes to find a parking spot. Entire lake was full of people on floaties and kayaks and paddle boards, all of the beaches were loaded with people... Just not the place to be if you're looking for a peaceful hike. That being said, if being at a busy beach is your scene, it was a beautiful beach with an incredible view of Mt. Hood, but it wasn't my thing.

Worth the walk!

Beautiful waterfalls!!

Flat. Good "warm up" trail with neat mossy tree views and river. Runs along river and the road but only heard 3 cars whole time near far end of trail. Couple spots to dip toes in river and possibly swim, take water shoes. Need a parking pass, get one at the Zig Zag info station .25 mi west of Salmon River Rd.

Great hike but hit it early to avoid congestion.

Super easy hike, and beautiful there, but not sure if it’s worth the drive

Easy 1 mile loop with my 4 and 7 year old boys. The scenery was otherworldly and kept my kids entranced. Only part of the trail is considered handicap accessible, but for parents with really little ones: all of it is doable with a good jogging stroller (though a double stroller would be tight).

This was a nice trail, we started at Tumalo Creek trail and arrived st the visitors parking area to a great view of falls from a distance. I was tired but wanted to get closer and possibly underneath but didn’t do it. Hopefully before we leave I’d like to get to the visitor area on top of falls!

Great views of the pinnacles! Not to be missed!

Great for new hikers with kids.

Fun loop but much of the boardwalk is in disrepair. We went around cautiously and enjoyed the wildflowers.

Fantastic hike, you can walk almost directly underneath the waterfall!

Easy trail. Not necessary to go far for the best views. We went to the park boundary and saw the old stone structure that used to display the parks name. I assume this was once an access point to the park.

Great views, if you are lucky there are raspberries to pick on the side of the trail.

Wow great trail. My family and I walked 2.5 miles to the fish hatchery then turned around and walked back. It was perfect. The river, the views, just a great walk in the woods. Good for kids and dogs.

Nice nature walk along the river!

Short, flat stroll while viewing the pinnacles.

A portion of the trail was closed due to construction. In June 2018. We followed others around the closed part and enjoyed the views. There were a lot of people fishing and swimming who appeared to be have a blast. Be sure to check availability for camping before you go. It was completely filled that week.

My family spent a lot of time here when I was a kid but I never got to hike around until now. Great little hike. A lot of places on the highway side for hiking buddies to play in the water. I don't care for walking through the camp sites but that's the trail.

Nice little trail!

Nice little trail!

Excellent forest walk.

Peaceful easy hike. Great growth and shade at the start and new growth after last years fire towards the falls. Easy access and soft trail.

Very enjoyable trail but way too many people. Very convenient and right along the river.

Snowshoed this loop in the winter and it was beautiful. A couple of downsides: the trail is very narrow so you have to be paying attention to skiers or mountain bikers coming downhill, it wasn't super well marked in the winter and we ended up going a mile in the wrong direction. I'd love to try this again in the fall when the leaves change!

An easy and beautiful walk through the forest right by the river. Highly recommend! Especially for an early evening stroll. There is a $5 fee for use but you can’t pay it at the parking lot, you have to get a pass at specific locations in town.

The map represented on this page is not the First Street Rapids trail. The first street rapids trail starts at the end of NW 1st street. Please rename this trail as the extended version of the Reed Market South River Trail.

Amazing scenery. The best view is right from the small Tumalo Falls parking lot (no hiking required (not always what we want to hear)). There are plenty of trails around, however.
