Beautiful view of the gorge. Breathtaking!

Very challenging in spots, but beautiful views and worth it!

Great Hike! There are several side trails you can take, some of which take you straight up the the cliff. Bring a backpack, water, and good hiking shoes, some spots are very slick and you will be hiking on a narrow pathway.

If this trail was safe, i would give it the full 5 stars! This is my favorite thing to do in San Diego, but that being said, it’s now pretty trafficked and at points, can be very sketchy/dangerous. It’s amazing terrain, beautiful views when you get towards the water, but some parts of it just aren’t meant for people to be going through. If you’re not experienced or don’t have good balance, I wouldn’t tell you not to do it, just to take caution! I’ve seen kids on this trial many times but they also have a low center of gravity and can fit through the tight spaces like the slot-canyon portion. Again, amazing, but just be cautious! Keep in mind, this is not the only way to get to blacks beach. And pro tip: barefoot is easier in this trail.

This was marked by someone who has never hiked. I don’t have any other explanation. The first time I went around I got off trail about 4 times I had to backtrack and by the end lost the trail completely, ended up on someone’s driveway and took that out. I thought I could go the opposite way to see where I went wrong and instead ended up taking a big circle back to the parking lot.
I have been hiking for over 30 years and never had a more frustrating experience than this loop. The blue seems what you follow when you start and then the yellow comes out of nowhere. There are probably 50-100 trails that branch off for access from peoples homes.
I wanted to love this because it’s so close to home but it’s awful and I’ll only ever go back for kayaking.

Nice and easy trails, fun little hike

Beautiful!

This is a great hike for a family. The walk through the gorge is really beautiful. The way back around you get a couple nice views of mountains and the cliffs/pool. It wasnt busy when I was there. If you have little ones, do not bring a stroller. It is def not friendly up the gorge. The walkways add adventure to the hike itself.

Beautiful trails and breathtaking views!

Hiked this as a “spur of the moment” thing when we visited the Scotland monument. Beautiful little walk.

Amazing views! Took my 11 year old daughter up and we both took 1000 photos of Edinburgh! :) Do not skip this hike on a visit to Edinburgh! Second time here and stuck to the castle and art galleries and shopping last time. This hike honestly really made Edinburgh sing to me on a level waaay beyond the castle and sites. Do it!

Really worth it!

Easy 3/4 mile stroll up to the falls. Nice falls but overrun with jackasses not heeding the no swimming or diving signs. Loud and full of humanity on a warm weekend. Nice to see it but I don't think I'll be coming back. Not as spectacular as, say, Kent Falls, and just too many people. Parking is also a mess.

The most beautiful piece of the world I’ve yet visited! Absolutely worth it. :)

Limited parking is available in the upper lot at the trailhead if you want to avoid a long walk up from the south lot. We arrived early on a weekday before our flight, and it wasn't overly crowded. Trail itself is easy with gorgeous views of the coastline and cliffs. You are exposed most of the time so sunscreen and hat is ideal.

Suggested by a local to climb clockwise vs the steps. The advise was great. More enjoyable to climb rocks vs. the hundreds of steps.

Short but sweet. Good for an evening outing. Leads right to the picturesque beach.

Took my wife to get her out in the fresh air, just a little 3 hour drive from home. She is by no means a hiker but she did OK with this. It's amazing to see people who you think would be in good shape who are out of breath just getting to the start of the gorge area. This is not a hike really but a nature walk (as their signs say) so if having trouble doing this, you should consider getting a little more exercise into your life. Arrived just around noon on Saturday and ticket line was not even a line but upon returning an hour or so later, the line was out the door. There is a shuttle to the start of the gorge if you want to take it but you'll need to actually walk uphill to see this once dropped off. The hike to the beginning is really not far, don't take the shuttle. It's funny because there are signs in the visitor area letting you know this as if some people may have actually asked why they built it so far away from the road. One could only let their imagination wonder why these signs are actually needed. It is a beautiful place and though you have to pay to see it, I guess it's worth it for many. ($16 per person) I see the reason they need to charge as it's a tourist destination and they need to maintain the paths they've built (you can fit golf karts through them) and everything else associated with it. Glad I went but don't expect to be back in the near future. The cost is really why I only rated this 4 stars instead of 5. And yes, my wife got her wind and made the couple miles.

Awesome

Nice easy walk. Took me half an hour to get to the top, not a major incline. Nice views but very crowded at the top.

Excellent! Easy parking, well marked trail with wonderful views. Highly recommend!

So crowded.. it is an easy level, definitely not a moderate one. Go there during the week and early if you want to enjoy without so many people.

It is super nice!

Awesome and beautiful! It rained, so we were delayed 30 minutes in a shelter at the beginning of the hike, but I’m glad we stuck it out

Nice views, easy to follow. put on your mountain goat for Boulder climbing!

nice easy hike, do it semi-often. Did it alone in an hour and 45 up recently. halfway down heard what I can only describe as two monkeys calling to each other...

Easy, short hike with beautiful views of 3 different Mountain Ranges. Be on the look out for the Fairy Town. My only complaint would be the road that leads up to the trail head is rough. Go slow if you value your car!
