So why does it say off-roading if there is nothing to off-roading too??????

very peaceful as always

Great views and an amazing hike!

Did this exact trail and loved it. Well kept trails. Lots of zig zags. Some parts were moderate but plenty of shade that I didn’t need my hat. Parking has fees and would love to use the picnic tables to have a gathering or just use it for our packed lunch.

This is a stroller friendly stroll alongside a pretty shaded creek.

Nice beautiful trail
No elevation

Beautiful place. Loved it

Great loop and easy category is correct.

I did this trail with Bay Trail Runners! Beautiful trail! Plenty of shade and good elevation gains for a challenge.

I love the park itself more than this one trail.

When I do this beach walk, I park on the beach side of the road at the entrance to Dolphin Beach, near the intersection of Sumner and Dolphin Dr. The trail is a staircase down with some garbage cans and dog poop bags. The trailhead takes you down to the beach via a dry creek known as Bush Gulch.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not so much a trail as a literal walk on the beach. It really is a wonderful place, with a seemingly endless, wide open expanse of sand, big surf, and tall, jutting bluffs dotted with coastal trees and plants. Often times the cliffs open up into small sandy coves, gulches, or inlets, areas with soft grass and sometimes flowers, and large pieces of driftwood that make great places to sit, where friends and I have camped and had bonfires. The full moon looks beautiful rising over the cliffs. On clear days, there are views of the Santa Lucia Mountains and the Monterey Peninsula on the south side of the bay, and the Santa Cruz Mountains to the north. The best thing about this place is that it is absolutely ok to have your (friendly!) dog off leash. Rangers often drive the beach, and none have ever stopped me with my pit bull mix running around chasing her ball into the waves. If you are so inclined, as far as I can tell, you could walk along this beach for miles and miles. I have seen seals, whales, dolphins, all kinds of seabirds, crabs, jellyfish, and this is also a great place for collecting shells and sand dollars.

Beautiful trail and managed well with a baby in the stroller and a toddler on foot. Also had my mom who uses a cane with me. Will be back!

Kat: Thomas de Aquino trail intersects with San Francisco Bay trail, which you can take by foot from Sunnyvale Baylands Park ($6 entrance weekdays in summer, ample parking). yes indeed it " intersects" Hw 237 ( in fact it goes under hw) but on the park side, not on the highway side. there is a tall fence btw. park and highway, so you want to be in Sunnyvale Baylands Park , on foot or on bike, to find the trail entrance. Thomas de Aquino also intersects Tasman Drive and Mission College Blvd. but there aren't good parking spots. it is mainly a local trail you take if you live nearby and you are already on foot. Nothing worth driving for. The neighboring Guadalupe River trail is slightly more interesting, wildlands better restored, and takes you all the way to Alviso Marina. Guadalupe and Thomas de Aquino Trails communicate at Tasman Drive, though the connector is a narrow path squeezed on a 4-lane bridge. To avoid during commuting hours and during Levi's Stadium games.

Great trail! Plenty of shade. Took on this trail during the winter so it was a bit cold. Would love to conquer this trail during the summer. Must be pleasant. Overall: easy trail. Kid friendly.

Great place for a fast walk. Very birdy, fun for kids.

I’ve been part of this trail in Shoreline Park Mountain View. It’s relaxing but a bit windy.

Not much change in elevation. Trail is flat and well defined. Great place to run.

Perfect loop for running/ biking. Started my long run at around 1pm and finished the loop in just over an hour. Although it was a bit hot, great time for running for someone who don't mind a little sun tan.

So easy to track your progress with this 8.8 mile loop. Will be back soon.

Easy one

Pretty flat trail, but great place for bird watching. Try not to go after rainy days... the mud sticks pretty thick to your shoes and continues to accumulate until you have mud heels and need to scrape it off.

It’s a nice shaded trail that follows the creek. The creek has fish and leads up to mineral springs. We saw deer and hawks along the way!

Nice shaded trail for hot days

$8 entrance.
A lot of picnic tables with grills.
Children playground{small}.
We hiked a 1/4 of the trail {toddler}.
It was mainly shaded with the trees.
All in all, great hike and not busy even on Sat in summer.

The side along the Amtrak rail was smelly. But the view was nice after we walked past the rail area. It was very sunny but the wind felt pretty nice. It was a good, long walk.

It is a walk along the beach, not a hike. It is a very nice beach to walk on though! Not crowded, at all. Other people had dogs on the beach. The water as nice. Got to see a lot of birds, crabs, and some whales. The beach had many sand dollars as well if you're into that.
