Absolutely gorgeous seasonal lake. We hiked to this trail on 4/19 from the Majestic Yosemite Hotel at about 9:00 AM on a snowy morning. There was no snow on the trail, but it’s flat and paved so even if there was it would be doable. By 10:30 the trail was much more crowded. We couldn’t get around the loop because it was flooded but the views were amazing and worth it. Have brunch at the Majestic Yosemite and treat yourself to this trail.

Steep and icey even late May. Great views at the top.

Beautiful trail every step of the five miles. The incredible mountains on either side are stunning, and the Mirror Lake is so nice. Not a big lake by any means, but the reflection of the mountains on the lake is very good to see. I’d recommend going counterclockwise so you see the Mirror Lake toward the end of your hike. The five mile hike with only a couple hundred feet of climb isn’t all that easy at the Yosemite altitude, but still worth it.

The hike up to the falls was extremely easy but the view of the falls coming down the cliffs was spectacular. Would highly recommend for all ages. I suggest parking on the road slightly past the trail because it was extremely hard to find a parking spot. Great choice for a first day and super refreshing to feel the most from the falls spraying up at you. *bring a poncho or rain jacket if you do not want to get wet.

The lake was beautiful and the view of the mountains reflected off the water was priceless. I would highly recommend to anyone willing to walk a while. Other hikers were extremely nice and There were large boulders that were great for climbing (without a harness needed). Will definitely want to do this again. The water in the lake was not the cleanest and was extremely freezing but there were multiple kids swimming in the water. Overall: spectacular views, beautiful trail through the trees, nice people, great hike.

Most beautiful area near the valley floor. It's a must see.

A nice easy trail if that is what you are looking for, and spectacular falls. Good for the whole family, best in the springtime.

I explored the park and took a lot of great pics on wed 3/28/2018. I had arrived in Yosemite around noon so I didn't want to start any of the long or challenging hikes too late. This one was a good alernative. I was able to get some exercise in and complete a new trail in the process.

Quick and easy trail. 100% worth the time and effort. You can get soaked on a hot day if you like, or just get some awesome photos of the base of the fall

Hike at sunset!! We did and we had the most amazing 360 view of the moon rising as the sun was setting behind us. In the top 3 most amazing things I’ve ever seen!

I went on March 19 and it was a delight, with snow still on the ground. Slippery in parts of the paved trail, so it’s better sometimes to go off the trail just a little bit and clamber up and down. Excellent atmosphere, filled with spray from the falls and the roar of the water when you get to the top of the trail.

Walked the path today 3/25/18. Path is very well marked out. We walked only to Mirror lake and then turned around from there. Hike was very easy but unfortunately the lake wasn’t quite a lake as the water levels are low. It was hard to get a nice picture of the reflections. However, it did mean that we were able to walk into the middle of what would be the lake and see half dome from a different a very beautiful point. Would definitely recommend for all of all hiking abilities. Happy hiking!

My first trip to Yosemite... A buddy decided to celebrate his birthday there and I decided to join on yet another adventure, no tent mentality. We snowshoed to about a quarter mile from the point. Set up camp with shovels, tarp and snow stakes. We dug about 4 feet below the snow and built up a couple feet and patched the holes in the walls on the exterior and interior as needed. Visualize a 10x10 floor plan that featured an 18” tall trench in the middle that led outside the snow cave. Space for two individuals could easily fit on each side of the trench which also acted as a face to face round table for entertainment, and a place for cool air to settle in the night as we slept. A couple feet outside of our door we set up a kitchen area to prep our food. A sled which we happen to haul served as a multiple tool... A door for our snow cave to keep predators out, a snow board to ride down gnarly decents and last to haul out our tools and garbage.

So when we got our permit pass to camp overnight, the ranger didn't mention thin ice
(Trail 18) en route to Dewey Point. On our way back I fell in about knee deep while hauling the sled and luckily I was able to make it out. Two of my buddies fell in as well, one waist high and one knee high. It ain't no fun without a little excitement. My only disappoint was not being able to start a campfire, it was super cold at night even with all our gear. My hands and toes were frozen but I was able to boil some water and put it in an empty mountain house package and use it as a heater to bring them back to life. I'd recommend covering your snow boots over night to prevent them from being less frozen in the morning. Tip: boiled enough snow water to put into a 32oz nalgene and stuffed boots, rotate at 5 minute intervals.

"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."
Snow Camping Brain dump: come with ready made non perishable foods, waterproof shoes, rain jacket, rain pants and know your clothing layering basics, down blankets, down booties, bigger fuel canisters, sleeping liners, high SPF w/ zinc, chap stick., backup fire starter to a lighter, windshield for stove, battery pack for your electronics.

Awesome Trail , went with my 7 yr old. it was so icy and dangerous when we went.
My son loves it , but i had to slide down to the trail on the ice yet it was Fantastic

Short and sweet, just the way it was meant to be. Pretty cool in the rain. They’re going to be renovating the trail soon, to make it more accessible and crowd-friendly, better bathrooms, better parking lot, etc.

Took the meadows trail to get to Dewey Point... A lot of Frazil Ice, really dangerous... had to take the way back after sticking your entire leg into a water hole , having my snowshoe stuck in a bunch of trunks...
Maybe the ridge trail is better, if you doing the trail, try this one ;-)

The climb was tough! But the views were absolutely worth it. It felt like we were walking straight up the entire time, though. And it was too crowded (this was why I took a star off). It is a trail you need to do at least once in your lifetime though. The views of half dome, Nevada, and vernal falls were breathtaking.

If you want to see a waterfall but are short on time, this is one to see. Best time to go is in the spring/early summer when the snow is melting.

The lake is more like a pond but still pretty. The 90 degree angled granite in the background is what will take your breath away though.

amazing view. you can see upper and lower falls and also half dome.

Such a beautiful snowy day for a wonderful trail

started my hike at Yosemite village, went to half dome village, then on to mirror lake, absolutely beautiful there, from there I went to the ahwanee hotel where I ate my lunch on the back lawn and felt like a king.after lunch I set off for Yosemite falls, then walked through cooks meadow to sentinel bridge.came in February in hopes of seeing horsetail falls at sunset but alas we're back in a drought year and there just haven't been enough precipitation, but I'm not disappointed, after all I'm in Yosemite it's beautiful here and no crowds!

easy going trail with good views!

Just a short walk to the trailhead from Upper Pines Campground, which is where we camped. It was an easy hike, and we enjoyed the beautiful views of Half Dome. We were surprised to find the water level at Mirror Lake was pretty low at this time of year, but a nice walk nonetheless.

Beautiful hike, lots of amazing views. Saw two doe mule deer yesterday. Went around in a clockwise direction, this brings you by the interpretive section at the beginning of the hike.

Magnificent view!

This is one of my favorite hikes in the park. Amazing 360 views on the top of the dome. View of half dome Yosemite falls Nevada and vernal falls. And it’s absolutely stunning!! A Must do in Yosemite. It’s worth it to make it to the top if you take your time anyone can do it !!!

Easy yet so fun
