Nice hike, could see that it makes more sense to go counter clockwise and take the chavez trail to Beaver Brook instead of the other way. I took Beaver Brook first, gradual decline about 1.8 miles to get to the creek. Nice rocky incline on the way out via chavez trail. saw about a dozen people on a Monday with a slight chance of rain. Trail was clear, great for my dog!

Loved the hike. Beautiful views all hike and great trail conditions. Only issue was a few people had dogs off leashes but it didn’t take away from the hike. Will definitely be going back!

Love this trail and the surrounding trails.

Beautiful day and a great hike! Thought it would be super crowded from all the cars but actually had quite a bit of solitude and some friendly passing visitors. The trail can definitely be confusing, everyone else we talked with was checking in on the direction of trails or had made a wrong turn. Other than that, it was a wonderful trail!

We love biking out here! Great views for little work.

Great trail! Great views the whole way with a really good cardio workout. A lot of incline trails the whole way up so be prepared !

Hiked this 3/17. Little Challenging but the views are incredible and completely worth it.

My first time hiking this trail. It was beautiful and challenging. I'm a beginner hiker so I found some spots difficult to navigate. Plus the trail wasn't marked well in some spots. Overall it was a great walk with beautiful scenery. I'll definitely hike it again soon.

Some very steep drop offs if you are afraid of heights, which I am. I was able to do the whole thing but would not do it again or recommend to someone afraid of heights.

It was a nice hike, but be aware of the summit- it’s not very spectacular. There are nice views on the way up and on the first half of the loop (going clockwise) but not much to see at the top but burned trees. The trail was in good shape and we enjoyed the walk. It took us (a family of 4) just over 2 hours.

Great exercise and gorgeous views once you get to the “eagles view” lookout. Awesome, well marked path though I would recommend keeping a map on you to navigate— easy to do with the map they provide at the trailhead. Steady, significant incline for first half— great workout! No traction issues and no snow. Easy to get to using directions from alltrails. I highly recommend!

Great workout and views on this hike. Not super crowded despite the parking lot overflowing. I would definitely do it again.

A great relaxing walk in the woods with enough incline to get the heart pumping. This trail has some diverse scenery: meadows, streams, woods, cliffs. Mostly dry with some mud.

Amazing views especially the loop at the top but I would not hike this trail again. We got passed by 50+ bikers some who were nicer than others in sharing the trail. Biker experience took away from the hike. I would definitely not recommend taking a dog on this trail.

Pretty hike and a good workout but WAY too many mountain bikes. No exaggeration, we passed (or got passed by) 75+ bikes today. We hiked about 8.5 miles (Belcher to Mustang to Sawmill and back) and there were bikes throughout the entire way.

It’s a beautiful Sunday so we expected it to be a little crowded and it was- but only for the first part of the trail. Once we hit the loop, we only ran into a few people throughout the hike. The views are amazing- especially once you get into the loop. It does get tight in places and there are quite a few rocky areas to navigate but overall it was a fun and interesting trail!

Awesome short day hike! It is a little rocky in some spots just as a heads up. Took about 2hours to complete.

Great hike close to Denver. You go downhill for the first half but the creek at the bottom was beautiful. Trail was clean and in good condition.

Went on a Sunday afternoon at about 11:30 AM. Parking was limited, trail was in good shape (kind of muddy), trek took about 2.5 hours. Was just challenging enough to make you feel like you really earned your beer(s) after.

was a good little hike, that uphill was killer but the views we're really lovely.

Went on a Sunday mid afternoon in April and wasn’t too busy. Took the loop clockwise to do the longer part downhill and the shorter/steeper part uphill and wasn’t bad at all. Mostly trekking through the peaceful forest until you get to a series of bridges over the stream at the bottom next to rocky slopes going up around you. Cool stuff but hear it gets crazy busy at times. Nice facilities at the trailhead. Right off 70 and next to bison herd spot. Pickle rick!!!!

Great trail when you’re looking to get a quick hike in. Has its steep parts but its totally manageable and the views are very nice!

Beautiful views! Moderate difficulty but definitely worth the hike.

Intensity is towards the higher end of Moderate maybe even Hard for the first half of the loop up Ravens Roost. The incline really kicked my ass. The intensity drops to Easy on the way back. Nice views but I enjoy a more consistent difficulty throughout a hike. Basically no snow or ice. Somewhat busy trail.

Went with my dog. Easy beautiful hike. Not a lot of traffic on the trails, we saw maybe 5 people. I highly recommend it!

Great trail- I’d head south on the trail first to do the loop. Trail was dry and clear. Minor traffic- great views of Golden and Denver from the summit.

Came down from Evergreen. Fantastic hike. Trail in great condition. Awesome views at the top.

Beautiful trail saturated in the deep forest, eventually joining a stream, with a few of great places to do some light bouldering to get a nice vantage of the stream and one of its many bridges crossing it.

I went between 4–6:30pm and there were very few people around. Saw a few great doggos being very good puppers—the mini Australian Shepherd was bashful.

Highly recommend if you're looking for a moderate-difficult afternoon stroll (coming from an unfit skinny guy

I went on Thursday 4/12 at around noon. I really enjoyed this hike but we also had beautiful weather. Not far from Denver, parking lot was pretty full though. However, once on the trail I didn't see many people. Very scenic views of Golden. Was a relatively easy trail, I was going to do another loop but ran out of time. Took me about 2 hours and I took my time. Trail was marked pretty well except for a couple spots.

great trail! Please keep dogs on lease at all times
