I wanted so much to love this trail. It has water, great birds, horses, cool plants, and is pretty unique among places I've been in Arizona.

There was trash everywhere. I just wanted one spot on the hike where my partner and I could sit for 15 minutes overlooking the water without an empty beer can within 20 feet. Couldn't find one.

If Arizona cleans this area up, it becomes an easy 5 stars.

Nice moderate uphill hike, quite craggy. The final ¼ mile up to the peak is just as the signs indicate, narrow and steep, but not overly so. I'm a flip flop hiker and had no issues ascending or descending. Great shade spot on the peak for a quick break if extending this trail to Lost Dog Wash (nice easygoing extension). Also, keep an eye out for the larger lizards just a little before the first landing. Overall a nice hike.

The trail itself to me was boring. And with the noise pollution of other park goers with kids, it's easy to be detracted. BUT, the horses. (sigh) And sometimes horses in the river playing around. There's just something about the horses that brings me back to this trail almost quarterly. Every time I go, I sit for a solid 30-60 minutes watching them. I typically always bring out-of-towners here if we have time, because the horses are so special and it's not a trail you need hiking or trail shoes for.
If you're not into wild horses, look for a trail elsewhere.
The horses are (unfortunately) people-friendly because idiots feed them. Last year, sadly, someone shot two of them. My point is that these horses are trusting and will come close to you. So please don't give them reason to fear by acting loudly around them; be respectful that you're in their habitat as only a visitor. And, PICK UP YOUR TRASH, this includes orange rinds and apple cores. Do not feed the horses!!
The parking lot is quite large, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot.

It is actually beautiful. I went this am, late start. Turned around after a bit. On trail 45 min. Came back to my car & rear window smashed. Items stolen from car. Police said several cars were hit. At sunrise & another trailhead.

Really too bad

Beautiful canyon on the way in and really nice views from the top. I saw 5 other hikers on my hike that started at 5 PM on Friday afternoon. 75% of the way was shaded and a nice breeze was blowing which brought the temp down 10 degrees or so from 108 when I started out. The 1000' foot climb up is a lot easier than comparable hikes around the valley.

Silly Mtn is just across Hwy 60 from our RV Resort and every time we pass the parking lot we see many cars parked there. Finally my hiking group walked over from Canyon Vistas RV Resort and hiked the loop you see here, plus every "cross path" for a total of about 6 miles. The group marked it Easy to Moderate but there wasn't much in the easy category... but the scenery was a big surprise and I'm glad I did it!!!!!!!

Nice hike by the Superstitions. Enough of a challenge in 90 degrees weather. A couple of tricky spots crossing other trails so keep an eye on your map.

A wonderful, moderately difficult, non-technical hike so close to Scottsdale! We started at 5am and caught the sunrise on our way up - the views from the top are incredible. Highly recommended.

Decent views. Easy to access. A bit too close to the highway for my liking.

Love this trail and it''s not as traffic as other trails I go to.

Like this Trail, best to get an early start this time of year. A lot of the Trail is vertical inclines. Good workout!

Awesome hike! First time out and it was challenging when you are closer to reaching the peak. For those who are on a weight loss journey, I am 300lbs and took a couple of breaks on the way up but was able to go up the Treasure Loop Trail and connect to Prospector’s View Trail which doubled the hike. If I can do it, YOU can do it too

Nice terrain and inclines. Amazing views, worth it for sunrise. Got there at 4:55 on a Saturday to 1 other cars. Full parking lot by the time we left

Badly badly marked, maybe not at all, more just weaving little sandy trails. Half the time we dead-ended in the river or bushes. Very little shade on the trails that are accessible. Busy spot for the river, bbqs and little rc cars. The river was gorgeous and we saw a small herd of horses and a big bull across the water! Pretty wild flowers and trees too.

Decent trail if you don’t want to drive to the park, though you still have to pay. Views of the Superstitions and Pass Mountain.

Awesome trail! I went at 6pm and saw a total of 5 people there and back. Great scenery in all directions!

This hike is absolutely beautiful! You really get to experience a little bit of everything this desert has to offer. The views are fantastic and the hike easy, so even with the 100+ degree temperatures it was pleasant. Tips- Pack lots of water, be mindful of snakes!

Beautiful and kids friendly

Great for a nice walk, a number of different trails and good views.

One of the most surreal moments of the trip was to arrive at the trailhead (sunrise) to witness the beauty of the Salt River wild horses. Amazing. The hike is beautiful with incredible views. Be cautious as the trail is quite narrow and steep at times. The narrow part can create an issue with rattle snake encounters... as we experienced on this hike. We expect to run into all sorts of wildlife during these hikes but did get ourselves into a pickle on the trail. Our issue was upon our return to the trailhead where we encountered a coiled rattler in a covered brush area near the shore. It’s beautiful in this small patch of area but you only have one way to pass through. There is no where to climb up or around in certain areas so if your trail is blocked, it may pose additional impediments. Just be cautious and aware of your surroundings on this trail. I suggest a walking stick of sorts.

4 stars mostly for sentimental value. Some nice views of the Superstitions and one confusing part where the trail follows a less than obvious route.

Good climb up and views. Recent trail maintenance has cleared some of the larger loose rocks and the climbing isn’t difficult.

Parking fees have increased to $7 if you don’t have the pass.

Fun short trail. Not difficult at all.

Great trail. Moderately hard. Longer than 3.6 miles. Both people in my party clocked it at 4.6 miles round trip. Steep the last part to the peak. Would love to do this trail again. Highly recommend, nice views.

Great trail for photos of the Superstition Mountains. Me and my parents in their 50's who don't hike at all easily completed this in 90 degree heat.

I’ve done this hike numerous times and it’s always a good time. BUT! Note to self - do not go on Memorial Day Weekend - what is usually a very quiet and peaceful hike is nothing but boats, jet skis and loud music.

this was a bad hike. there is horse poop everywhere. although we saw some horses it was smelly and there were a lot of flies.

This is one of my all time favorite hikes. It’s beautiful and the views are amazing.

Great hike to start with to open up the lungs to prepare for more difficult hikes (if you’re visiting). Nice elevation gain;more of a steep incline toward the top to reach the summit. I would consider this a pretty rugged trail to run on.. It was challenging in a good way, moderate is an accurate description! We started late, about 9:30am, I think it was 79 when we started and mid 80s by the time we finished. It wasn’t unbearably hot. Nice breeze at the top and on the way back down.
