Beautiful! A little bit shorter than I had hoped. Great view from below and above!

If you've got friends or family visiting you in Vermont, Mount Philo is the perfect way to spend a few hours. A very easy mile each way gets you some great views of Lake Champlain and the surrounding areas. Very crowded in the summer, try to hike this one around 5 or 6 pm to catch the setting sun over Lake Champlain.

This was a pretty hike but not what I would call easy. There were some pretty steep sections that left my family winded. The forest was lovely but not a good view of the waterfall and the highway detracts from the window view.

Nice family friendly hike. You can choose to stick to path or follow the paved road both up and down. Offers some beautiful views of Lake Champlain.

Well marked, great hike, nice environment . All the people that use the trails are very friendly. An excellent multi recreational area.

enjoyed hiking here. we met so many people from different age groups. very nice view at the top and relaxing picnic spots. restroom area is also well maintained. in short worth the hike. and perfect for beginners!

A pleasant trail with wild berries and a brook. For a more “moderate” experience, be sure to climb the hill to the upper trails (see my photos of the “Afternoon Delight” and “Sundown” trails up there).

Perfect hike for beginners. Gives a challenge at the beginning, great view at the top and easy paved road on the way down. I would have preferred a wooded path the entire way but this hike was enjoyable. We passed many of all ages, 3 years to 70s. Some of the younger kids were complaining but our 8 year olds did great. The path was hard packed and steps were available in some areas.

Really enjoyed this trail. Mostly really easy, great for families and dogs.

Very nice day hike — varied views along the way, peaceful place.

Nice waterfall . Easy to get to!

A nice nature walk with the added nicety of reading some of Frost's greatest poems in a pretty setting.

great views and an easy hike. picnic area at the top.

I rated this as a decent outing because the falls are nice and refreshing. This is NOT a 2.9 mike hike. It is a little under a half mile to the falls.

Wonderful nature walk with added bonus of Robert Frost poems. Take as much time as you need to read the poems and reflect on them. Benches available by some poems. Well marked and maintained trail. Would do this again.

NOT 2.9 miles. More like a 5 minute stroll from the parking lot and then BAM ... you’re in a pristine medieval forest that looks like a movie set. The falls are splendid, but make sure you enjoy them from above as well as below. From the top, the dangerous and gorgeous views of the slot canyon below are a must see. Who knew this was just off the highway? Now you know. Put it on your short list of things to see in the Stowe area.

Beautiful view, nicely maintained trail, kid friendly and high foot traffic. Wish it was a little less busy but it was a VT summer day, can’t expect to have the trail to ourselves. Was a great hike with the kiddo.

Great waterfall and short hike. Water was crystal clear and the perfect temperature to cool down in July.

Decent hike. Could hear highway the whole time and see from “window” view. Still pretty, especially when you first walk in. Great hike if you are looking to go all the way to Camels Hump!

Easy loop around a nice series of waterfalls, Very popular spot, so expect company.

Great little hike. We were checking it out for hiking with friends that don’t hike. This is an easy one with beautiful falls. We started out around 7 AM and had the trail to ourselves. Also went past the falls for another 3/4 of a mile just for the exercise. Nice trails with a couple steep spots that can get the heart rate up.

Unfortunately, I relied upon the description at the top and shouldn't have. This isn't an out and back but a loop. I saw map and it shows it going out to the "X" and thinking that's the end. The X part is really nowhere special on the trail, you wouldn't know the top of the hill once you're there, it's just wooded area. It is marked by blue blazes and when I decided to check on my app where I was, I kept wondering where it went since it said it was an out and back. I thought maybe the trail had a second entrance from the road nearby but I was wrong. I spoke to the park manager and he showed me on the flyer that it was a loop. I went about half way and came back the way I came in and now wish I hadn't. This trail was a day trip for me and too far to think about going back. To get to the entrance of the trail, once you pull in to the parking area, the fire tower is just to your right. There is a grassy area to its left so go to the back of this grassy area and you'll see the sign. The trail has numbered markings which are stakes in the ground. Hopefully, you'll have grabbed a brochure at the park entrance before heading up to the parking area. The brochure explains what is next to the numbered stakes. The trail does have some undulation and a bit more elevation changes than I expected so though it's rated as easy, it's not like you're walking flat out like around a lake trail type. Nice view from the fire tower but on what I saw, no real scenic vista unless it was on the back half of the loop which I never did get to see.

This is an extremely easy hike for a family just beginning. Gorgeous views of a flowing river and waterfalls. Lots of fun places for kids to explore and play.

Good workout, great with dogs. The trails are intended for mountain bikers, but hikers/walkers r welcome too. Park at the Shaw Outdoor Center, check out the trail map on the north side of the center and pick a trail. I enjoy the Blue Trail the most, wider so easier to step aside for any bikers. Bring your water, you’ll need it as it’s a steep climb that switchbacks up the mountain. Many lookouts along the way and good pausing spots. Nice short local trail system.

Well maintained, well trodden. Went on a week day encounter six sets of folks during the trip. Great views of the Green Mnts and Adirondack’s (w labeled signage). Some fences to keep idiots and children from falling off the overlooks.

This is not 2.9 miles.... half mile round trip maybe a tad more. Nice view of falls.

Easy. Nice waterfalls. . There is a beaver dam on the left when you first start walking. You can see tree stumps with teeth marks.

Short but sweet! Breathtaking waterfall at the end of an easy and short easy to follow trail.
