The reward at the end of this hike is so worth it. You get a 360 degree view! Breathtaking! The hike is moderate but if your not use to the altitude there are small spots that can be difficult. Rest take your time, enjoy the quiet and beauty along the way.

great trail. great views

One of our favorite trails. Follow the route Alltrails provides so you dont get off track in the dry creekbeds. Dont miss the two side trips: One goes up to the top of large hill for 360 views, the other spur goes into the canyon itself where there are the remains of a homestead at the very end.

#twoenthusiasticthumbsup! start early and enjoy the views and a lunch at the top.

We found it very difficult to find the trail and were almost attacked by a Rottweiler off leash. Do not recommend.

Crags trail is beautiful especially in the fall. The 360 view on the top was amazing and so worth the hike. It’s a little hard to tell where to stop but make sure you follow the trail up to the top! Great trail. One of my favorites so far!

Not to be missed! Spectacular hike, especially in the fall.

Easy walk, reservoir is very low, leaves are barely starting to change. Beautiful day!

After following the advice re: going to dead-end of road and following 'old' trail to meet up with the new Crag's trail, I recommend to all who are not familiar with areas they will be hiking to use extreme caution/avoid attempting to utilize old' trails. The further I hiked from the trailhead the worse the condition of this old trail became to the point where 'guess-timation' kicked in (should have turned back at this point). After a bit of this, I decided against continuing so turned back and began my attempt to retrace my path only to discover that numerous washed out, dead-ended trails and false 'paths' resembled the 'old' trail.

If you have hiked certain areas for awhile, or enough in the past as to recognize other landmarks to guide you back to the trailhead,...then you may very well do okay. But for newcomers to areas to attempt to do so...on your way back toward dusk, or simply hours later after the sun's position has changed and the shadows under trees canopy distort the very slight markings which might/might not be the old 'trail', or, your memory of it's very slight existence becomes muddled,...be advised: the apprehension/possibility of spending a night in the woods only to pick up where you left off in the morning is not worth cutting off a smidgen of your hike to avoid a strenuous portion of a new trail.

Spectacular!

Stunning views along the way, but the 360 at the top is icing on the cake. Get there early, the lot fills up fast, but you can always park at the lot for Raspberry Mtn and walk up the road a bit. It was hard to tell where our destination would be when we first started, but as you start the climb towards the end just make sure not to stop until you reach the top!

The views from the top are well worth the effort and the scenery on the way is beautiful. Highly recommend.

Wonderful trail. Road to mueller start is not paved and mostly single lane. Hike has a lot of variety and make sure to go to the very top of the rocks. The view is unbelievable.

Amazing trail, one of my favorites so far! Definitely will go back in the winter.

Gorgeous trail a bit steep in parts but the view at the top is breathtaking so worth the hike!!

Beautiful views and easy hike. We took our 82 year old Mother along and she handled it great!

Beautiful hike, spectacular view from the top. A little over 5 miles out and back. Perfect for a couple of non-mountain hiking Iowans.

Great trail. Lots of scenery, wild flowers and birds. Quiet.

Great hike with tremendous views at the top. Difficult for the first half mile and the last half mile but pretty easy in between.

What a fabulous trail so close to the Springs! We were the only people on the trail and it was wonderful. Felt like we were in the middle of no where and were only 1.5 miles from the parking area. Some open areas, some shaded areas. I will definitely be adding this one as at least a monthly hike for my hiking group. Yes, the trail is simply a dirt foot path. Yes, there are overgrown sections. But it felt so wonderful not to be on a sidewalk or some wide bike path. You literally feel like you are out in the woods getting lost somewhere. Several areas require a bit of looking around to find the other side of the trail on the dry riverbed crossings. When you get to the top of the "loop", the side excursion up to the "lookout" is totally worth the extra 10 minutes!! Such beautiful 360 views. I honestly feel like we stumbled upon a hidden treasure that not many people know about. During the weekends I could see it being a pain to walk the single track if constantly encountering people coming the other way and having to move off trail as there is a LOT of cactus around. During the week, there was no one and it was a great treat. Started hiking around 4:30, back to the cars by 6:30 with the side trip up to the look out and simply leisurely walking along on the trail. Lots of little lizards and birds, no rattlers today.

I mean, yeah, this trail sucks. You don't want to hike here.

Picked a beautiful day to hike up to the Crags! It is an easy trail as long as you stop to catch some air & enjoy the views of the amazing rock formations. The view at the end is well worth it & plus meeting new folks from other places! You will not be disappointed!!

Beautiful. Well kept trail.

Beautiful trail! Beginning is a semi steep climb that gets your heart pumping esp if not used to the altitude. From there a nice rolling trail. Some shaded then a section that opens up to a meadow. Last half mile is another climb to a fantastic 360 view! Road to the trailhead is narrow and rough but my small SUV handled it.

Very nice trail with good views of mountains and forest. Wide well maintained and marked.

Beautiful view at the end. Worth the hike. However, my recording said we walked 6.8 miles on this trail.

This is an easy hike, with a gradual descent toward the reservoir.

Take your time, bring the kids, and enjoy the stream that feeds the reservoir. The reservoir is low right now, but gives you a unique and interesting perspective.
