Great morning for a Cub Scout hike. Trails struck a good balance for all the participants.

A bit challenging for kids and beginners but really a nice trail for the family. We started along the green blazed long path and both kids (2 and 4 yo) did the first mile on their two feet. That took about 2 hours, so then the little one went up in the carrier and we continued on to the yellow then white with red triangle trails to complete the approx 3 mile loop. The 4 year old did the whole thing with a couple tough spots but she loved it. It took us a little less than 4 hours. We only stopped a few minutes here and there for water or a quick lunch. A couple relatively challenging stream crossings (for little legs) and a nice spot where the yellow meets the white/red triangle trails with some little waterfalls. I am glad we did it clockwise- the more challenging and rockier parts seemed to be in the first mile and on fresh legs. The yellow trail is wider and white with red triangle more rolling hills. All made for a really nice day hike from Long Island.

Hiked the trail today. Basically flat with some minor elevation. I found it well marked. Very, very muddy - waterproof boots a must. Some bridges/planks that make it neat. My wife and I enjoyed it - saw two big buck up close. Overall 4/5.

Fun trail! Ruins, a waterfall, trains, beautiful view of West Point, and a rope swing for jumping into the Hudson and swimming in summer. All that on the first loop! Great for kids.

this is a ez and beautiful hike!

Nice park close to the city

great trail for casual walks with dog

Lower trail was a little crowded as there was a run going on. Once we got off the main path, it was a nice quite hike. Nice views and once the leaves drop I'm sure even better.

Beautiful park, great place to walk your dogs.

Pleasant hike on a well marked trail. Good starter trail for an amateur. (That’s me) There seemed to be a few other trails that crossed this one, I will probably return to try some of those.

Great place with amazing views. The trails are dog friendly and allowed. You aren’t “supposed” to have dogs on the beach but there were many of them playing on the sand and water. Nice and clean. Highly recommend

A little muddy but still enjoyable. Lots of families out enjoying themselves.

Nice hike except you can hear the traffic on Rt 287 the entire time.

Very easy trail. A little muddy on the north side but easily negotiable. Took an infant in a backpack and had no trouble. Easy to extend trail distance depending how you feel. Limited parking but spaces turn over

Love this app!

Definitely NOT an easy trail.PLEASE update to moderate. I followed the directions of the description cause the map was all OVER the place! Finding the trail head was difficult cause it's overgrown. Follow the white trail to yellow to find the falls. I took the whole family and we enjoyed it. Tired, sore, and dirty! Also not sure where the old buildings and wildflowers were but they weren't on this trail.

Just great

A friend and I just hiked this Sunday, and we both agreed the trail markers were albeit readily available for most parts of the trip- are confusing to read on other sections. You have to pay attention to where you are going with the intersecting pathways. Nonetheless, we still couldn’t find the markers to follow once we hiked back around towards the viewing platform (we started at locust park). It was pretty muddy, but it was an enjoyable hike! We did end at hemlock falls and returned back because altogether we ended up doing about 11 miles just by deviating and climbing parts of alternative routes and climbing up to the top of the waterfall. But all in all nice starter hike for those lookin to slowly extend their trips! We are coming back here with a few more ladies to have them try this out before I make them do part of the Appalachian trail and Hawk Mountain. Haha!

Good morning hike!

great for kids

- Nice trail, overall.
- A little confusing to navigate in parts, especially with so many intersecting roads and paths, but doable if you print a map in advance or use a phone for directions.
- Not too many changes in elevation; pretty easy for all ages.
- The falls and view from Washington Rock were nice, but nothing too memorable. Otherwise, not much else to see along the way.
- LOTS of bugs. Must bring bug spray!

Great selection of trails! Make sure and take a map of you're adventurous like me

Great spot to hike
Trail marking could be better but great experience overall

One of my favorite hiking trails. I been there 3 times this year. Easy trail with beautiful views.

Great trail, takes a little over an hour to do the loop at a reasonable pace. The trail markings are clear, so it is easy to make your way around. Good terrain changes to keep it interesting with lakes / rivers / rocks to take in as you go. Really good for beginners!

This trail is NOT DOG FRIENDLY. You are only allowed in a small area and once you have to cross the street, you are not allowed to bring your dog.

Family friendly, Well marked trails. No dogs allowed. A bit crowded and noisy in areas. Stay on the green belt, or take some side trails. Some climbs a bit steep, in soft sand, making footing a bit challenging. We took our time and loved the views when we got to the purple painted trees. Ate lunch and continued on our way.

a go-to walk for me. this trail allows add extra loops to make this as long a hike as you'd want
