Very beautiful hike with the enormous variety of plants and trees that flourish in this nice climate. Make sure to use some mosquito repellent before you go and wear shoes with a good grip. January 4th 2019 it was very busy, muddy, and slippery.
It inspired us to go on hikes around where we live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada CA.

Took the dogs on this hike one evening and started with the upper portion. It was gorgeous and shaded, not to strenuous, and easily traveled. The tunnels were unique, we didn't go past the third tunnel as daylight was fading but plan to go back. As for the lower section of the trail, it is poorly maintained and muddy. It probably didn't help that it was getting dark but once we got to the stream we weren't sure if we needed to cross or go along the side. GO ALONG THE SIDE! Obviously if it had rained recently we probably wouldn't have had a choice but that was the most difficult section to navigate. Definitely just stick to the upper portion if you're looking for a cleared path.

We will definitely be going back though.

My husband and I very first hike in Hawaii. we chose Diamond Head. enjoyed the views. Too busy on MLK day. Could not get a good leave.

Short, moderate hike! There was way too many people though. It was difficult to take pictures at the top. But the view was well worth it.

Rocks can be slippery but footing is solid overall. Good workout; nice morning hike.

I was more annoyed at having my pace set by the 8,000 people ahead of me than I was thrilled about the views. There are better less crowded views on the island.

so pretty!!!!! and long!!!

Not too far but you will definitely feel the elevation. Very rocky and muddy and be mindful of other hikers.

Beautiful views. Wear comfy shoes & bring lots of water and sunscreen. The sun is brutal and there is no shade anywhere. Our first time and we saw whales. Awesome experience for our family.

waterfall a bit overrated. not worth paying almost 16 bucks.lol. nice family walk

went on a Sunday it was extremely busy. nice view at the top.

Loved this quick little shaded trail! Perfect for the dogs, just a little bit of mud. Really make sure you go clockwise to get the best view. Took us about 2 hours to complete.

I'd also park at the beach and walk up. The parking isn't designated and you don't want to park in someone's yard or something on accident.

The falls are beautiful, but we were more drawn to the views along the trail leading up to it, and another trail going through the bamboo woods up to the left of the falls. The views were gorgeous, some looked like they were straight out of Jurassic Park. However, because of the easy accessibility of this trail, it gets crowded.

On the day we went hiking here, we later found out there had been a big land slide by the upper waterfall and that some hikers were missing. Hence, be careful with climbing higher and going off the trails, especially after rain. Take the warning signs seriously!

Have to find someplace to park about 1/2 to a mile down the road. Not very many people go so it's not too hard. Pavement walk after you get around fence and then just one decline down with ropes to help to get you to waterfall.... worth the risk and just an easy walk

For the views, walk past Ualakaa Trail onto the road, and follow it uphill to the state Pu’u Ualakaa State Park. Walk past the parking lot and you will come to a lookout point.

Took a 6 and 9 year old on the upper waimano trail. We found the 3 tunnels that others had mentioned in their reviews. We followed the trail through the third tunnel instead of turning for the loop and found 2 more tunnels (the last was flooded and had a bunch of still water - lots of mosquitoes). The trail was beautiful and would actually be a good running trail. Overall, we had a lot of fun!

A nice, easy trail. I recommend bug spray.

absolutely stunning views of oahu at the top. wear a hat. bring water. the sun is hot and unrelenting. the pathway is paved for a little and then becomes uneven rock. i definitely would recommend it to anyone. my handicapped dad didn’t go to the summit but was able to walk up to about 700ft elevation.

It's uphill, but paved so seems more trail than hike to me. Regardless, beautiful views from the top.
Hiking down the "secret" trail to the tide pools definitely increased both the challenge and the adventure.

unless you plan on doing the stairway, the trail kind of ends lackluster. Be prepared for lots of mud after a mile and a half. Good hike though. Fresh air.

Many homeless, although I had no issues with my kids.

First of all, the parking! Wow!! can't do much about it, but when when you get a spot your good. The trail is paved all the way and you are in a moderate incline. Worth a morning stroll as we were fortunate to see a few whales early noonish!

Lots of people but well worth it with the views at the top. Plus the bunker walk through is a trip to the past.

Great for Beginners and people looking for a nice trail for fellowship.

Lots of mud and shade. Will be back to look for the Plane Wreckage.

Short, paved walkway. Beautiful views at the top. It’s more of a uphill walk than a hike, but certainly still enjoyable.

Upward incline the entire time with some Lookout spots along the way. Some off-paved paths that looked interesting but I wasn't that brave... One wrong foot and you could slip right down the cliffs. Not much to see along the way except cacti and scary spiders in the brush. Once you reach the lookouts to the ocean it's beautiful. Deep blue and you might catch a glimpse of a whale. We saw a little baby one playing in the distance. At one of the whale watch spots there's a steep Rocky trail down to the tide pools. Wanted to do it but it was really windy and we were already pooped as it was our second hike of the day. Heard they are a must see though. Saw tiny people down there floating in them.

Wear appropriate shoes if you're not experienced or tend to be a little clumsy like me. Steep but well worth it. Lots of people but it's a short beautiful tropical hike worth visiting.

Can get a little muddy but definitely worth the hike. Easy to do and a definite must if you are visiting Hawaii.

Easy hike but heavily trafficked. This hike is definitely a good start of you are planning on coming to Hawaii to hike. Great views from the top. If you aren't used to hiking you will get tired and the stairs may seem like they can beat you but you got this.

A great hike to take people on because it’s not too challenging as to be overwhelming but it’s also not boring. You really get to see the layers of the mountain from down by the stream up to the strawberry guava and ironwood and then native koa and ohia. You’re rewarded with a good view of the windward side and it’s possible to walk along the ridge and explore some.
