Best to go in late August. Going in the middle of summer you will share this trail with hundreds of other people. To crowded in the heart of summer.

Very pretty trail. Not the prettiest hike in this area though. But the Wind Cave is phenomenal! The photos here don't provide it justice. Amazingly tall entrance. Lots of room inside to climb around and explore. Be sure to bring headlamps to allow unhindered exploring. I'm not sure why this trail is rated as difficult. My 4 year old niece managed the hike up all on her own.

Our yearly trek! Waterfall canyon is also definitely worth the extra push. If you're planning to make it an overnighter the far side of the upper lake is the prime territory. Been up here 4 years running and have always seen wildlife. Last time a moose stumbled upon us and gave us all a good jump. I don't know who was more surprised us or her.

Amazing area, good first backpacking trip hike/ location!

Do the full trail!!!! We saw so many people turn around at the falls but we kept going to the top of the mountain and it was SOOO worth it. Probably my favorite hike we did in Yellowstone! The view of all the geysers steaming in September was like something I’ll probably never see again. Amazinggggg!!!!

this is definitely a hike that is accessible in the winter as long as it's not crazy snowy. The trail was easy to follow and trafficked.

There's nothing too special about this hike but it's pretty simple and short. It's a good hike for when you don't have much time that day to go hiking but still want to.

Wow! First weekend in November and a perfect day to Hike. Last Mile had about 5 or 6 big switchbacks and took a little longer getting up that part, but so worth the view.

Was exactly like the descriptions said. We started out around 09:00 and took 5 hours to get to top. I’m very out of shape now days and refused not to give up until we made it. My wife waited on me lots going up but kept me motivated. The views going up and at the top are good enough motivation.

Great hike, say a lot of wildlife, moose, deer, elk. Fishing wasn't to great, but what can you expect since it's almost November.

We hiked this trail in order to summit Disappointment Peak. Before beginning the last leg of our summit, I took a refreshing (and frigid) swim in Amphitheater Lake. I believe we counted 18 switchbacks. Both lakes were breathtaking!

Hiked this trail to the overlook. Wow! it's a gorgeous view. I'd call it a moderate hike. We are seniors in our 60's, and felt like it gave us a little challenge. We packed our lunch and sat at the overlook eating on a beautiful fall afternoon. The only disappointment we had was the lack of wildlife. Even from the overlook, we could see no wildlife. But, that's the way it's been the entire trip. Where are all the animals? Wolves taking care of them?

By far one of my favorite trails in the area.

this is one of my favorite hikes. Theres stunning views even just a mile or two in. My family hikes here every year. You can go inside the windcave, but be cautious, there are currents inside the cave where you can't tell how deep they are, make sure you stay out of the water as much as you can, and take a reliable headlamp.

Great hike! Plenty of good views and not too difficult. We didn’t see any, but watch for bears and moose as they are active in the area!

Lovely short hike/walk. Folks in front of us saw Moose. We enjoyed mallards on the river.

Great hike with stunning views. Highly recommended

Just did this oct 14. got within 100m from the top, waist deep snow and after hours of making fresh tracks we called it! Past the junction there was no way to find a trail. With it wind chill we think it was about zero degrees. If you're going to go later this season I suggest gaiters and snowshoes!

Absolutely a unique hike and well worth the effort to get to the top. Views are unparalleled.

Started at lake Taggart. Hiked this the first day of our Tetons and Yellowstone trip. I live in Houston so would have been a good idea to do a warm hike. The hike felt murderous. The altitude really got me. Great views and a nice challenging hike though. Will definitely do it again, this time after a warm up hike

It is not lightly trafficked July, August

Amazing views. Friendly people on the trail.

Very little snow at the top, amazing lakes. This is one of my fav hikes I've ever done. Would make sure you bring waterproof hiking boots though since the trail was a little muddy and wet

A great backpacking trail with nice lake views at the top. Be sure to take a water filter if you are planning to camp at the top.

This is one of my all time favorite hikes in Stanley! I highly recommend heading down to Alpine Lake on the way to Sawtooth. It's a must see! The hike had great views after the 2nd mile or so and they just kept getting better. If you go in July make sure to bring mosquito spray! They definately do get pretty gnarly especially around the water or in the evenings. Other than the kamikaze mosquitos, he hike is beautiful. Highly reccomend!

So gorgeous!!!! Loved the hike!

We hiked about a half mile to the north and saw two female moose just hanging out. One walked into the river then ate leaves. They were there for a while despite the on and off rain sprinkles. This was around 3pm today 10-2-18
