Favorite trail, only an hour or so from home. Cement mile markers the whole way. Would get dropped off at Jersey Hollow Rd. and run down to the Pyle and sit in the river, refreshing.

We followed the trail clockwise in early-mid Nov, with sunny and crisp clear skies in the 40s with leaf-concealed mud and puddles in low areas and some small icy spots in the elevated rocky areas. It was interesting seeing the faint remains of Doodletown, and the assortment of mountain tops allowed for numerous beautiful viewpoints, including Bear Mountain, the Hudson River, and NYC. I’d consider this a Medium-difficulty trail. Elevation gains were a nice challenge and GPS was invaluable on this partially-unmarked trail. Foot traffic was light to moderate. Would love to see it in June!

Was surprised to see how close to nature one can be right here in the Bronx. Luckily in my trails I saw a few people and even though it felt quite for most of the trail, I had the fortune of seeing a family of deers! It was such a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing trails I’ve done. Truly recommend it. There were some parts that was a bit scary, like walking under two tunnels to get to the other side, but other than that, it was a great nature experience.

An excellent hike, with varied terrain, excellent views and beautiful trails.

A word to the wise: if you load and follow the exact path outlined above, please be aware that this is not 5.5 miles. The complete loop, covering Bald, The Timp and Doodletown is 7.5 miles.

Wonderful, none the less, but plan accordingly. Not the first Harriman/Bear Mtn Park hike that’s miles off in distance on this app...

Lots of rain earlier in the week so the falls were pumping. Perfect day, great marking even with all the leaf’s easy to follow trail.

Perfect day for a nice long trail hike with my dog. Gorgeous views. Lots of bird sightings and evidence of other wildlife. (Only down side was hearing construction close by).

This was a great hike. Downloaded the map since others have said it is poorly marked which is true. Be warned accounting to our fitness trackers it was closer to 9 miles and we did not deviate from the mapped route. Recommend for those in moderate to good shape.

Awesome views. Lots of history took place along these paths. Great hike!

Ran gate to 11 and the trails were perfect as technical trail can be. Be ready to do some climbing

Beautiful scenery, tons of history, love it.

Some stretch of the trail is completely rocky. Beautiful view of falls in many places - great for picnic. Wish there were more signs to indicate the trail paths. Hiking in fall is perfect here as there were no bugs. :)

Great loop hike, particularly during leaf-peeper season.

Allows to go to Kensico dam, but is almost all along the parkway.

Great XC trail, plenty of down hills as well up hills to keep you in shape.

First, the trail is absolutely beautiful, but the mosquitoes were other worldly. Despite reading previous reviews of the mosquito issue, I thought it wouldn’t be a problem due to our trip taking place during early Fall. However, I was sadly mistaken. I wanted to take more pictures than I posted in this recording, but slowing down below 5 MPH to take a picture led to being swarmed by dozens of mosquitoes within seconds. I literately couldn’t open the camera app on my phone fast enough before I was covered, and that was with a liberal coating of Deep Woods Off from head to toe. I couldn’t imaging going anywhere near the trail on foot during month outside of November through March. It finally got so bad that we had to turn back less than half way through to end the suffering. Perhaps I’ll try this trail again after a good hard freeze.

Lightly traveled trail on the day I was there. Not a trail for sight seeing of vistas but the beauty of the trail and tree canopy is fantastic.

I Added Rainbow Falls Trail. The trails were wet & muddy but good shoes and no problems. It was cloudy but still beautiful.

Excellent hike for fall.

Did the first 3 miles from Ohiopyle to get to some brookie streams. Challenging beginning at mile 2 but a good workout

It’s all alongside the highway, if you were able to see the view more it would be nice. The coolest part about the hike was that I ran into a snake

Multiple peaks with short but steep climbs. The trail marking is HORRIBLE - we had to have our AllTrails map out the entire time. We took multiple wrong turns. I wouldn’t say to avoid this trail, just be cognizant of trail markers.

best trail

Nice hills. Clear trails . Amazing its in ny.

Fairly heavy traffic when I was out, so don't plan on escaping into natural solitary. Overall a fun hike on the strenuous end of moderate thanks to some steep climbs and scrabbling. I would recommend proper footwear for maximum enjoyment and safety, on a wet day like today I was grateful for the tread.

Very nice trail. Part of the path (right before doodletown) is unmarked. I had downloaded the map here and followed via GPS.

A few sections with some decent ascents but overall nothing too challenging with little to no scrambling needed. Go on a clear day, views are awesome!

Away from the big crowds.

This hike encompasses 9 of Catskills high peaks over 3,500 ft. The bushwhack from Table Mountain's trail across Lone, Rocky, Balsam Cap and Friday is exhausting. Picking up the trail again just below Cornell was like striking gold. It is not an overly difficult hike; there are certainly others of this length with more elevation gain. The off trail hiking makes this trek taxing but extremely gratifying upon completion. Try it!
