amazing trail but full of mud !!

Do you live in Oakland and want to go for a nice walk that is uninterrupted by crossing intersections? This is the walk!

This was a great, easy trail. Nice scenery, wonderful aromas, not very crowded. Went in January on a holiday weekend. It was about 10 degrees cooler than downtown Oakland so make sure to bring an extra layer as it’s a higher elevation and very wooded. The parking lot is open again.

Gorgeous hike! Extremely muddy! All trails did not keep us on the trail so be careful!

Hiked counterclockwise in order to climb the only decent hill on the trail. For a 9 mile hike, it's a good workout. A little muddy today.

crowded but mellow. paved main loop with offshoots that get muddy. great trail for casual walking.

gorgeous trail, a little muddy with the recent rain, but nothing to get hung up on.

Beautiful views of the Bay. Pretty easy hike. Watch out for mud and some slipping. I would recommend this as a after family hike.

Beautiful loop.
Very muddy.
Nice to see water in the creek.

Well-maintained trail and good workout. We went opposite direction, so one steep uphill part. Nice mix of wooded areas with eucalyptus and open areas with pretty views of lake. First couple miles were on paved path and very crowded, then saw almost no one the rest of the way. Took us a little over 3 hours to hike it.

Did this for second time with mustafa, def wear wellies after rain

Great hike. Accidentally went off the trail several times and ended up spending almost 4 hours on it, but the views were amazing. No water or toilets on the trail so be prepared. Reeally steep slopes at the beginning but it gets easier later. Appropriate footwear is highly recommended, especially if it has rained recently. Overall, an amazing workout for the day... More than I had expected.

There was a week of rain, a day of clouds, and this trail helped me celebrate the sunshine. It was wet and there was some mud, but it wasn't impassible. Gorgeous views and very little traffic once you're off the pavement.

One of my favorite East Bay trails to date! Not too difficult, but enough of a climb to feel like you’re moving. Beautiful views in both directions. Wasn’t too crowded on a nice Saturday morning. A little muddy following some rain, but easily doable. Will come back!

The hills are green again. Great early morning hike. Views of downtown SF and the surrounding bay area.

This trail is awesome! Highly recommend!!

Enjoyed walking along the shore on a flat paved road along the water . Lots of birds watching opportunities!!

Wanted to like it more, but spent most the hike dodging cow pies and mud puddles. Nice views of Benicia here and there and a good constitutional close to home, but otherwise not worth a revisit. Is no one else terrified by the cows?

Nice loop trail with rolling ups and downs. Went after a rainy week. There were really muddy parts of the trail that added to the difficulty. Really nice views and changing landscapes through the walk.

There is more shade on the east side of the loop vs the west side, so plan accordingly for which way to do the loop (go clockwise for less shade at the start and more at the end or counterclockwise for more shade at the start and less at the end).

Enjoyable. Not super challenging. Went w Cece. Company was amazing, trail was lovely, but nothing particularly special. Occasions views were green and blue in the winter rains good. Frankly really difficult to identify where the trail was sometimes, so being a phone that will have service to track. AllTrails was helpful.

We really enjoyed the hike. Very crowded on the paved trail, but majority of traffic was gone once got on the dirt. Some nice hills for this old and out of shape hiker and great views of the reservoir and Mount Diablo. We will definitely be doing this hike again before it starts heating up. Looks like it could be a hot and dusty summer hike/run. But, was great today in spite of a little mud from recent rains.

Great views, there’s parts of the trail that’s a bit muddy after the recent rain. The deer, birds, salamanders and squirrel’s made for a great hike today.

Awesome trail with amazing views.

Very shady trek, wide trail, multitude of trees. Overall a great little escape only minutes away. A restroom along stream trail, nothing on west ridge portion.

Super easy to walk especially on a nice day!

This trail is multi-use and accessible. Is a paved pathway, it's very good for bikers, runners, hikkers, dog-walkers. It makes connections to a number of regional trails. Very easy and confortable to do.
