One of my favorite East Bay trails to date! Not too difficult, but enough of a climb to feel like you’re moving. Beautiful views in both directions. Wasn’t too crowded on a nice Saturday morning. A little muddy following some rain, but easily doable. Will come back!

Enjoyable. Not super challenging. Went w Cece. Company was amazing, trail was lovely, but nothing particularly special. Occasions views were green and blue in the winter rains good. Frankly really difficult to identify where the trail was sometimes, so being a phone that will have service to track. AllTrails was helpful.

Awesome trail with amazing views.

Very shady trek, wide trail, multitude of trees. Overall a great little escape only minutes away. A restroom along stream trail, nothing on west ridge portion.

Nice place to smoke a joint. Also there is a sweet swing about halfway up in the grove of trees on the left

Delightful winter walk with fine views (and sounds) of the falls and the countryside (and Clayton) to the north. There was some mud in mid January but nothing we couldn't navigate. The hike is a mix of fire roads and single track. There are some steep slippery parts of the actual waterfall section of the trail so we recommend a hiking pole. Nonetheless, we did 8 miles in 4.5 hours with plenty of ooh-ahh stops so thought the trail was moderate for us.
We started at the Mitchell Canyon Nature Center and went counterclockwise (see https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/diablo-waterfall-jaunt) . This entry has a fee and the hike to the falls is longer than Regency Gate (our loop was just under 8 miles), but you get better parking, bathrooms, nature center, boot cleaning station and the satisfaction of supporting your state parks.

Gorgeous trail with great wildflowers, rolling green hills and waterfalls at every step.

I completed this hike today after failing to find the turn for the loop last weekend. I don't hike staring at my phone, and following the signs on the trail, I eventually ended up on a paved road and turned around to make it an out-and-back hike on my first try. The path for the turn is very small, narrow, and rocky, and near Arroyo Trail. Navigational faux pas aside, this is a nice 2-hour outdoor workout. The inclines are steady rather than overwhelming, and the rocky path is a great contrast to a gym environment. I like the benches and views of the Bay and SF, the easy parking (I like arriving around 9am though!), and the reliable outdoor toilets near the trailhead. Good times!

A new favorite. I love the change in scenery as the hike progresses, and the view at the top is worth it. Shady enough and a good workout. Would do again.

Good mix of sun and shade, nice views, and cell reception throughout

Great views of the bridges and marina. Clean bathroom.

Nice length. Easy (at least for me) to go the wrong way and get lost. The whole loop is spotted with steep downhills and uphills—it’s almost like interval cardio training. Beautiful, beautiful views of the bay, both bridges, and the city.

Unexpectedly great views and a wonderful workout.

Nice and peaceful trial track.

Did this late in December. Not an easy hike in sneakers and lots of wet terrain. Looks easier to navigate some sections on bikes and saw a few bikers on various parts.
Even saw some runners, but not sure that is much fun given all the mud laden sections. Almost took a header navigating the steep muddy beginning! Since it was overcast, missed any true views, but overall a pleasant hike devoid of summer crowds and bugs!! Hope to find more challenging hikes in the future.

Great hike for a quick workout that doesn’t leave you exhausted. The views and mixture of shade and sun are nice as well. Trail is well marked, but very rocky and rutted in some parts.

great singletrack in some sections and trail is clearly marked. My watch marked the gain at 1550 and was 7.1 miles. didn't see many people on a weekday

Great bay views and some nice vegetation. Didn’t do the whole loop because of slippery seaweed covered concrete. Smelly at low tide.

Be advised - the parking lot is temporarily closed for renovations.

Just a little strenuous and good views. Usually not too crowded.

Did this with my boyfriend this morning who is in a wheelchair and we did about half of it then walked on the road for a bit. It gets pretty steep but nice for a little nature on a Sunday.

Cool place, interesting art. Very picturesque.

One tough hike - even though rained a ton yesterday not too much mud. Going up is tough but not many people - when get to the top use AllTrails bc there is a ton of other unmarked trails. Coming down tough on knees and a lot more people

I would rate this as an easy hike. It had nice views and was paved most of the way.

great easy hike through fern and moss filled woods

Really beautiful and a nice couple hour workout

Fabulous Thanksgiving hike today. Spectacular view at the top! Especially enjoyed it after so many days of smoke-filled air.
