The trail towards Hercules had been extended for half of mile including a pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks. It improved a beautiful scenic walk along the San Pablo Bay. Nice!

Easy and nice views

Awesome trail. I’m new to hiking and getting in shape. This trail kicked my ass. The last half mile-ish back up to the parking lot is killer and I had to stop a few times to catch my breath. It’s definitely the higher end of moderate.

Couple of steep ups and downs, lots of loose dirt as well as rutted out hard pack. Excellent views of the bay when there isn’t cloud or fog cover. Saw a coyote, cows, lizards and a couple of hawks. Definitely a nice trail for a run. Had to walk a couple of the steeper sections because I’m new to trail running and don’t have my fitness level up high enough to run this entire trail. Overall a good experience and challenge. Will be back again.

Greats views of the straight. A couple up:down hill sections but worth the effort. First part is steep but not too long.

Great labeling of the wild flowers.

Really great hike except for the section after you reach Grizzly peak boulevard. It's hard to find the next section of the trail (you need to turn left at the end of the trail and walk along Grizzly peak to find the trail entrance) and then the next section is not well maintained. Also the trail is not well marked so have a map handy. If it wasn't for that segment, I'd rate this hike a 4/5. Great views.

We did the full trail and it's definitely a solid workout (some of the steeper climbs I've done). It looks us about 2.5hrs with some water breaks. Some shaded and some direct sun. Recommend plenty of water, bug spray, and suncreen. We also brought our pup who loved the climb as well and was off leash the majority of the time. Also definitely recommend solid trail shoes or hiking boots.

We arrived around 9am and had no issues with parking right at the trail head.

Fantastic hike that will kick your butt!

I’ve walked this trail many times. There are two steep climbs

Long enough and ends in a lake where you can buy things from a shop and swim

Steep and at an incline most of the way so wear shoes with good grips as it is slippery downhill. Offers great views of bay.

Shaded beautiful trail.Worth it!!

One of my favorite hikes! Really nice views if you hit it on a non-foggy day, but the eucalyptus groves in thick fog are just as pretty. Challenging enough to feel like a workout but not too tough. Nice choice for dog walking too.

Great hike! Saw a few other people on the trail but was very lightly trafficked on a Sunday morning.

Did this hike again about 2 weeks back.. good trail about 5 Miles round trip. Going up went through the left side from the trail head to the Bollinger Creek Trail a paved trail to the top of the peak.. Took about 1 hr 30mins going up. Great views of Moraga, Orinda, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, and Mount Diablo. On the way back coming down took the Chamise trail a true narrow trail over the ridge. Took about 1 hr 30 mins to get down..nice lil hike

Don’t underestimate this trail. It is intense with steep climbs which makes for a great workout.

Such a great hike! It even rained at the top of Redwood Trail! That was amazing! Definitely a moderate hike. Lots of steep inclines and declines but the views, smell of the forest and the sound of the woods made it at worth it.

Quite a bit of shade, good for dogs

This was a nice trail it is moderate and be prepared to go off trail for Cinderella Trail. It was quite a challenge finding Cinderella trail. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my son who went with me on this hike. There are lots of bikers so don’t bring little kids under the age of 5. Overall the trail was a workout which I enjoyed.

Started at West Ridge and went on to the French trail.Kept on french trail .It had pretty steep inclines and declines.Wanted to go till Chown trail .But,took the route back to steam trail. It was about 7.5 miles hike overall. It is pretty intense and hard .

Nice views, lots of traffic

This trail was beautiful and great for a beginner!

A little too steep for me sometimes but overall really beautiful hike with amazing views, sun & shade and little food/horse traffic during the week!

Wide trail; no part was too difficult. Saw a gopher snake. Good views, and lightly traveled.

super easy if your just starting out fun path ways you can take all over the park

this trail is overall beautiful. pass by the stream and be surrounded by redwoods. be prepared for some stretches without much trees and sun exposure in a sunny day during the Meadows Canyon Trail

Pretty trail with a porting next to a stream, Curran section is shaded but Meadow trail section is exposed. Better to walk this counter clockwise to be in the shade uphill. The trail is well used and worn with a fair number of walkers, runners, dogs and bicyclists. Everyone was courteous and friendly. The trail is hard packed dirt with ruts, roots and rocks as well as plenty of burrs for doggy paws.
