Amazing hike. Very popular so get there early.
A small lake near top with some swimming in it. We hiked about 1/2 mile further past a rock cliff for more views. Wild flowers everywhere. Most difficult part was past the lake, but very doable.
Was a little hazy the day we went, most likely due to wildfires in California/Oregon?

fun hike, cool lake and lots of wildlife.
we were charged at by a moose so bring bear spray

Did this hike at the suggestion of a local we chatted with at Beehive Brewery while traveling through Big Sky. It was great! So many wild flowers! It was beautiful. The reward at the top was a splendid little lake. We continued past and enjoyed a picnic on top of a small mountain area over looking the lake. Although this is obviously a very popular hike, the trail did not seem overly crowded.

Great hike. Not too difficult, not too easy. Very steady incline all the way up, only had to stop once on the way to the top. I've read that there's some confusion as to where the turnoff to Lost Lake is, just look for a tree that's been cut and on top of the cut is a little rock cairn. Turn left there and it's about another 1/4 to 1/2 mile. I'll share a picture for reference.

Great trail conditions. Wildlife and campsite is great!

The trail was awesome!! Absolutely breathtaking once to greyling lake and lionhead lake fished both lakes. The girlfriend and I had way better luck at greyling lake for fishing. But all of it was breath taking. We loved it and are planning next trip with our two boys for a longer stay. We also had trouble finding the trail using altrails direction which took us to lower canyon road. But other then it was amazing!!! Also 5 miles carrying packs may start to feel like 9miles.but we had a blast!! Also Lion head is not 3mils more from greyling lake it's more like 5mins or a 100 yards

The trailhead was inaccessible due to road closure and we were not able to get to the trail.

Killer views throughout! Would definitely recommend hiking around the basin and up a bit further past the lakes. Totally beautiful.

Amazing hike, my favorite one I’ve done all season. BUG SPRAY IS A MUST. Forgot it and was eaten alive!

Three lakes in less than 5mi RT? Perfect! The upper hidden lake still had some snow and the hike was beautiful. A little steep on your way to the upper lake.

Absolutely gorgeous scenery! The wildflowers were breathtakingly beautiful. Enjoyed having a picnic at the lake at the top. It felt like I was in another world with the different trees and rocks. It was nice having a jacket because it gets a lot cooler at the top. For my first hike ever, it was quite a trek! I loved it!!

The trail is very steep and very eroded due to 4 wheeler use. Beautiful views. I would rate this as difficult due to large amount of boulders and the very steep incline.

Great place and few people. The first part of the hike is on a wide trail but up on top of a level area is a potentially confusing intersection with an arrow indicating the trail straight ahead but go right instead. There is a hard-to-see sign that says Hidden Lakes nailed to a tree. From here the trail heads down and then up to small Lily Lake. Look for the faint and narrow trail heading steeply uphill on the northwest corner of the camping area to reach Lower and Upper Hidden Lakes. Usually snow even in July and good fishing for Golden Trout.

Great hike. Not to difficult at all, but only went to the lake. Extremely buggy- lots of mosquitoes. Wasn’t able to hammock sit at the top- I forgot big spray. Might have helped.

4WD only, final mile to TH.
Wasted early morning start on a place I couldn’t go

Great hike!! Lots of great views! Beautiful wildflowers!

Great hike, had the lake to myself for a bit. Tough trek for this flatlander but views were worth it. Plenty of streams for the pup to drink from too.

Stayed at a house on Beehive Loop Rd so was able to cut off the first mile. If you want something more challenging continue on the path past Beehive Lake and scramble up over the ridge that offers views north and east of Gallatin Peak. Elevation got to around 10k feet. Overall it's a great hike even if you stick to the trail.

Beautiful hike and challenging, lots of wild flowers and wildlife I recommend going early I made it to the trailhead at about 9:30 am and it was pretty quiet only a few cars. But on the way down it got pretty busy. And once you get to the lake at the top keep following the trail around the cliff to get the best views! It’s a must do.

A beautiful hike with wonderful wild flowers. For some one from sea level it was quite a trek

Really enjoyed this hike. Took my eight year old boy on an overnight hike. Both of us did well. Trail was well maintained and beautiful.

Most beautiful hike I’ve ever done. Allow 3-4 hours to fully appreciate.

Beautiful hike with about 80 or so switchbacks that is moderately shaded and has plenty of nice views. A few easy water crossings and a gorgeous view of the lake and cirque once you make it to the top. Take binoculars if you want to check out any wildlife across the lake up on the mountainside. We saw a beautiful bald eagle and a large mountain goat from a distance. Only saw one other person up at the lake, but otherwise had the entire place to ourselves (Thursday 7/19/18 mid morning-early afternoon) The last couple of miles to the trailhead are a pretty rough and rocky so a 4WD vehicle with good ground clearance is recommended but it may be doable with a 2WD when conditions are really good. Also be sure to pack the bug spray, those dang horse flies bite hard! Overall, one of our all-time favorite hikes!

Fun hike if you have time and energy! Getting to the lakes wasn't too hard, there are spots that can get tricky because the trail isn't marked too well. if you want to get to the top I would rate this as Hard. if you follow the right side past the first two lakes it will bring you close to a ridge line, you will have to be smart of how to get to it because there wasn't a trail. once on the ridge you will have to do some boldering for a good portion of the ridge. If you wanted to follow the lakes up then go through the pass you can, but make sure on the first to lakes to stay on the right side, the left side of those lakes are hard and steep! Going to the top will test you, but it is worth it!

Super fun hike- I was completely alone with my dogs which is always amazing. I was able to easily make it to all the lakes, but I’m glad I had my phone gps and maps. The trail up to the upper two lakes is much narrower and not well marked. However the trail is worn and easy to follow once you are on it.

Amazing hike

Beautiful and family friendly. Steep parts followed by flat terrain so you don’t get too tired.
