It was a nice flat trail... if that’s what you’re looking for. Wonderful scenery. Enjoyed riding it.
Clean and great for dogs. I enjoyed it.
Dreher Island was my local “happy place” for the 3 years I lived there. I could access the park within a few minutes and even though we had our own lake frontage and land at home there’s just a different vibe from state parks that I just love! The gift shop is cute but the paths aren’t well lit so it gets very very dark!! However finding a picnic table by the water is an incredible place to lay and watch the stars!!
Great state park. Nature trail is easy to follow. Playground is nearby with picnic areas. There is also a nice trail that goes from one end of the middle island to the other. We have seen a lot of wildlife here... deer, snakes, birds. Kids always like going to the small island that has a short foot bridge to it. No trails on it. Kids like throwing rocks in the lake and walking the shore to see what we can find.
The main paved path is great for scooters and biking. There are basically two sides to the path. Middle is at the bridge by the main welcome center. If you take the stretch that heads towards the 2nd entrance by the newer playground it is much flatter and more shaded. It will flood if there are days of raining. The second half has some more drastic curves and ups and downs that can be a little tough for small ones on wheels. Also a little less shade. We have also walked a good bit of the non paved trails. They are well marked and mist of the time if needed you can cut through the woods to the paved path or road. There are two playgrounds and you can rent tubes for the river. Lots of geocaching in this park. Park pass is a good value if you are local and will go at least 12 times for the year. Lots of picnic areas
Easy, family friendly paved trail. Lots of traffic. There are a lot of access points and there are no markers, which can make it a little overwhelming for first timers. once you do the loop 1x you will have no issues. Cool bridges at several points. Several geocaches. They just added a paved portion on the backside of the soccer field. The trail does have a good bit of ups/downs. Not flat. Biking or scooting for young kids may not be the best. In the winter for something different we have walked the frisbee disc golf course.
4-9-2021 Really beautiful. It’s not a loop trail, it’s more like a lollipop trail with a really long “stick.” All Trails has you coming back partially on a utility road, but the white blazes do not direct you that way. Only passed 2 people even though the huge state park is full! One of the ladies I met up with was lost...she got stuck on the loop part at the furthermost part of the trail. The mini “lighthouse” at the end of the island is pretty cool. And the sign next to it directing boat traffic to Dreher Island was pretty clever.
Nice but not marked well.
This is a wonderful rails to trail ride. At the end of the trail you see the railroad which I thought was cool
This beautiful hike along the lake! Great for the whole family!
Much smaller/shorter than I remembered.
It is very easy and pretty trail.
Very nice trail to practice with camping pack on my back. Easy to follow and we saw some deer
Very easy trail. Paved and kid friendly.
Great trail, a lot of rocks and tree roots, but very doable. I would consider this more on the moderate side.
Nice nature walk- very flat but fun bridges and rivers. Would recommend mountain biking this trail rather than walking- gets a bit boring. Very family friendly and accessible.
Nice paved and unpaved paths dog park pretty
great trail to ride.
Excellent trail
Your average walk in the woods.
my favorite backpacking trail in the midlands. hiked with ryan and camped in the valley between MM 26-27
